Scrap booking question

I haven't done any scrapbooking for a few years, but I have tons of supplies that I bought back when I was scrapping. I've been looking around at scrapbook.com at some layouts because I plan to get some of mine done when the weather gets too cool to work outside.

A lot of the layouts have flowers on them. I was wondering if they are paper flowers or silk flowers or what. It's been a couple of years since I've been in a scrapbook store and I didn't look around then. I only bought the one item I went after. Are the flowers a particular kind that have to be purchased at a scrapbook store or could I use flowers from a craft store that come in a bouquet? Thanks for any help you can offer.

Linda...the flowers are sold by scrapbooking companies...I know my daughter sells them...I don't know why you couldn't use a reg. one...if you pulled out the center. Unless the hole is too big...they attach them with brads. They have all different colors of brads.

I found a book at a thrift store (it's orginal price was about 35 dollars..) It is full of page ideas. I'm sure you can get something like that or find page ideas online.

Peggy at the Message House forum is doing some beautiful fall pages she has been post pictures of.

A lot of $$ stores have products, along with some WalMarts. I don't know why you could not use flowers from a craft store--just tear them apart so they lay flat. Almost every magazine has ideas and the main thing is now you can scrapbook anyway YOU want to--just think how you want to do it before you glue. Even QVC has ideas, along with Hallmark, Target etc
I too have stuff that I need to get into books.

It really would be nice to have all those tips & techniques gathered into *one* book! I'm still picking up some good tips here and there, and honestly, mostly I find more useful ones -both basic and advanced- in books. Of course, my problem with blogs (and many on-line demos) is that I get distracted by all the other pretty stuff and end up admiring a neat design or striking use of color or sighing over an especially nice bit of stitching... and forgetting to note something like making multiples of transfer patterns by using an unthreaded needle in your sewing machine. *That* was a basic technique that I used long ago, and had completely forgotten until coming across a casual mention in a quilt-pattern book -- and just in time as I need to mark about 250 strips to quilt the sashing on my out-of-my-box quilt. So: books are my first choice because they don't need batteries or electricity or any special equipment more than a scrap of paper or fabric; and once a bookmark is slid in between the paper pages, it will never disappear into the unknown vastness of dead/disappeared websites. I picked up a 20-year old book on machine quilting at the yard sale ($1) and it was like-new -- and all the info was just as valid, applicable, and available now as it was first printed. I don't think any of us have a 20-year old computer or e-book of which the same can be said.

Flowers can be purchased in craft stores, but they can be expensive. I've taken some flower leis and used the flower from that.
