What Three Things Are You Doing This Columbus Day?

What three things are you doing today? I think I can think of more than three but my three are...

1. Clean peppers and chop and freeze

2. Make vegetable soup

3. Clean the rest of the green beans and am now canning them.

1--switched/moved a couple of bookcases
2--making cream of celery soup (from scratch) for dinner and the freezer
3--making a spice cake with burnt butter frosting for DD's workplace tomorrow.

Luckygal, where in the world are you? Somewhere near a beach obviously--but which one. Sorry no good luck on the TS shopping, do keep trying! Jeanne, I have two baker's racks outside, one is a corner unit--but neither look nearly as cute as yours with your collections and vignettes. I need to work on mine I think. That is so neat that you do the Farmer's market too. Candy, I'm another one who does tablescapes for my "imaginary" friends. DH will only eat at the table when we have company--rest of the time he prefers to eat in front of the tv. Karen, I didn't do a table, but I did glue a little cheese tray and glass dome on a pedestal and decorate it--can I get any points for that? ;o) Kathleen, the rooster napkins like in your photo that you shared with me are some of my favs. We don't do sit down breakfast often, but I like to just sit the table and display them on the plates because they look so cute.

Worked with new dog that we found walking on a lonely rode. Was amazed that it is a pit bull Dixie mix! It is a tiny dog, so how did that happen???? Face of a bit and body do a Dixie. Also have my two Grandkids with us. One is out of school and the other ends school this week. Eileen

What Three Things Do You Think You Splurge On

1) Pet. A lot depends on what you consider a "splurge". I consider it something you do or have that you don't really need to survive. Something you could easily get along without. I don't consider vet bills a splurge, I consider them required for responsible pet ownership, however pet ownership is a splurge. 2) DSL internet. Although many would argue they couldn't live without the internet, I'd suggest they could. There's free internet available but I do enough research that I recover the cost of a lot of my internet cost so the splurge isn't that great. 3) Bottled water and tea. I have problems with this one, since technically it's a "splurge", but OTOH, I generally save way more by carrying it with me so I don't splurge on beverages when I'm out and about. So 10ÃÂ¢ a bottle for spring water often saves more than the cost. That wouldn't really be a splurge. Probably should be considered an investment yielding dividends! Given that a couple purchases, sometimes even one purchased beverage somewhere can offset a month's worth of spring water or more. On second thought, I'm striking that one. That *is* a money saver. 3) Occasional meal out. I don't do the fancy meals out. $10 is usually going to include meal (unless I make the 5 disappointments mistake! LOL) and tip since I often forgo a fountain beverage unless it's at the buffet where I get coffee, tea, milk and pop or other drinks all for one price should I so choose. Yeah, that's more of a splurge by definition than the spring water. When it comes down to it, cars, even electricity, computers, cell phones, TVs, ipods, etc, etc are all splurges for most people. Hiring people to do things is usually a splurge too.

Update from o j, Was out of time at earlier library, so ... ... secondly, came to talk to you folks ... ... shopped for milk (on sale) and yogurt ... ... bought some glucosamine sulfate - that may help my arthritis. Had a bowl of soup at local restaurant (as had had only a coffee and slice of bread since morning), then, came here to talk to you folks (again). Tomatoes, all gathered last week, were pretty well friz; have some cabbages to get in tomorrow (before snow flies), then all that's left in the garden is swiss chard, that's sending up new, fresh shoots ... and broccoli, that's recently been sending out tiny bracts. They're both tough, when it comes to frost. Three-quarters of a mile of garden seems about enough. ole joyful

My 3 things are and this is a maybe?

Finish a book (YES! I did it)
Vacumm the familyroom/kitchen and mop kitchen (this is the maybe)
Go to Yoga@5:30 this a forsure

Anything else I do is a 'That a Girl'

Working on throwing out all the junk in my youngest's closet. I asked him to clean it out on his next visit, and he told me just to throw everything out. These are boxes he packed up and stored in his closet after college. So today I threw out all sorts of class notes, outdated textbooks, notebooks. The recycle bin is full enough after this huge box of books and notes, so I will wait till after garbage day to clean out the next box.

Also plan to hit the grocery store for our DDs visit tomorrow with our two young grandsons.

And then even more laundry, and making a batch of Chex Mix for the visit too.

Check the online Columbus Day sales, good sales today folks!
Cook the chicken to make my dog's food.
Water the atrium plants and my orchids.
Hopefully get some laundry done.

About those sales got a tv for the rv, 37 inch LED LCD 1080p hdtv for $249! Brand New not a refurbished.
Happy dance!

picked up things i forgot yesterday at costco, lol...

made breakfast for dh and ds2..they had a business meeting (they work for the same company) and were saving gas by going together...

ended up going to 2 different stores for special cleaner..but best part? picked up slusshies from sonic for dessert. lol...

Got blood work done for upcoming DR visit

Went to cleaners to pick up altered skirt and drop off winter wool jacket to be cleaned.

Tackled closet and dresser and put away summer clothes and brought out winter clothes.

Took dh to work so I could take his car in for window repair.

Went back to dh's work to get the key he thought he'd put on my keychain.

I rode my bike to work, worked, and rode back home. Then I worked in the yard for a while.

Now, it's shower time. :)

Did laundry, cleaned bathrooms, mowed the lawn, cleaned out the frosted bean plants, helped a friend with an accounting problem, and watched Revenge (recorded last night). No wonder I am tired tonight.
