Going to the Phillies Game tonight.....

I sure hope they win. I was so nervous at the end of last night's game, I really thought they were going to lose. My DH and I are so excited to be going to the game tonight. We have season tickets all year and are very big fans. I can't wait to get there tonight.

football makes me CRINGE when they do so much harm to their bodies-- My DH was a football star back in high school----the scout from Penn State offered him a full scholarship but he had to turn it down because of a pre-existing heart problem-- The DR told him if he played college football he would be dead at 40. With today's rules he could have been just a "kicker" but the rules were different back then--- His brother gave me this information and said what a sad day it was when the scout gave the family this news. Obviously the clothespin comment was mis-posted (shame on me! LOL). Yes, Plow In, mold counts only because it's nasty and took 2 days of treating. OF COURSE you get to try another cabinet! My results: Tonight's cabinet was the top shelf over the stove, with the DUSTY shoebox of small "treasures" and odd-shaped lightbulbs. These bizarre items were flung without blinking an eye: 1 marker (dried out) 8 turkey skewers** see below 1 rusty-icky bottle opener 1 refrigerator diagram 3 wire easter egg dipper-holders 3 parts of turkey basters (why did I have 2, and where is the missing part??) 2 plastic relish forks 1 bent knife (might be a grapefruit knife, but I hate grapefruit) 1 metal something (actually looked like part of a desk drawer?) 1 small glass carafe for heating syrup for pancakes on the stove (LIKE I WOULD EVER DO THAT! LOL) 3 cork pullers (how many cork pullers does a house with no wine bottles need?) 2 wisks (one rusty, one too heavy to be useful) 1 vinyl patch kit 1 handle to something **Please note that I did ask DH what those metal pokey things were, and he THINKS they're turkey skewers. Keeping in mind that we have NEVER USED THEM, he was a little snippy when he asked if I was just going to give them away to the garage sale. Ummm... YES!! Gee whiz, I'm sorry I even let him see them. Maybe one day he'll get rid of the hoarding mentality? It's really kind of funny because he makes fun of OTHER people with the hoarding mentality, but doesn't see it in himself. I need to go tie up the trash bag before he decides to go through it and make sure I didn't throw out "good" stuff that we might need some day. Lily....it's my mother's side. Both my mother and her mother were avid A's fans, but they moved to KC before I got a chance to see the A's in Shibe Park. So, I grew up a Phillies fan, although I still treasure grandmom's autographed baseball - signed by all the 1931 A's, including Connie Mack. It's locked up in a secure place, unlike mother's signed Richie Ashburn ball from the 50's and my ball tossed to me from Jim Thome, one of the balls used in the last game played at the Vet. I have my old seats from the Vet in our sunroom, so - I am a baseball fan and love my Phillies.

It's been 34 both Friday night and last night here in Minneapolis. Admittedly here in the South Side, I live in a heat island, but I have tomatoes and peppers both set out, already established and blooming and a very nice peach set on my peach bushes. Nothing took any damage Friday night and I am expecting the same from last night. Friday night it was windy which helps. From here on it warms up here and you all get what we just had. Time to seed beans and squashes is just around the corner. Next week I will be thinning the peaches! First real crop on these two types of seedlings. We shall see how that all comes out later this summer. I think if I were to do it all over again, I would just go with Contender, but these were intriguing. Normally I would not have a vegetable fruit set this early to worry about. It looks to me though like I will be seeing fruits on my sweet banana peppers and maybe on my tomatoes very soon. The two Bush Champions have been in the ground close to a month at this point (a real gamble that it looks like I will be getting away with this time - I couldn't resist).

You are so lucky! It's a great series. Seems like every game the Rays have played have been cliff-hangers.

Have a great time and bundle up--the pictures in the St.Pete Times today showed people in heavy coats.

Have a WONDERFUL time! The World Series, Wahoo! We went to the '86 WS and had the time of our lives. We were also season ticket holders so that year we had game 3 of the play-offs and games 1 & 7 of the series. We had a BALL!

You're lucky you're going tonight. My 2 sons went last night and because of the long rain delay and late start they didn't get back home until 3 a.m. But the game was so exciting and they had a great time that they didn't complain - well they did mention how cold it was but if they had listened to me they would have been warmly dressed.

YAY!!!!! The game was awesome the weather was great and we had a wonderful time. Very fun! We went early and walked over to Chickie and Pete's and had something to eat and drink, had some fun with Eagle and Phillies fans and then walked back over to the ballpark. I wish we were going to the game tonight, I think tonight is the night!!

If they win tonight, those at the ballpark will be lucky to get home before dawn if it's anything like 1980.
That night, it seemed like the entire city was up and out in the streets cheering and dancing after the game. Streets were impassible, from the ballpark up to City hall, where thousands were gathered.

But gosh...it was fun.
