I'm grateful for another new day.

There's a rumour afloat that I may be still alive ... and I think that there may be some truth in it.

If it turns out to the contrary ... I'll try to find a way to let you know.

That answer when some store clerks, or tellers at the bank ask how I am as a routine question, usually gets a bit of a smile.

Actually, I'm planning to leave the contact info to get here as part of the kit available to my son, who already knows about you folks but not how to get here, to notify you when I'm not mobile enough to do it on my own - including that 4-letter word - "d-e-a-d".

I'm happy to be alive ... and that my body spoils me, seldom saying, "Listen, you darned old fool - I can't DO that for you any more!".

And I'm feeling that I need to treat it with better care, as well, and taking action on it.

Like mojavean states, the grates are coated with a porcelain enamel, almost a glass like substance. It will wear, and it might be susceptible to attack by "some" of the stronger dishwashing detergents that have potassium or sodium hydroxide in them. I quote one sentence from Wikipedia under the topic 'dishwasher'-"glass dissolves slowly in alkaline aqueous solution."... you can read the article yourself. I mentioned before, it's like the porcelain coating on French cast iron ovens, such as Le Creuset and Staub. Having said that, it would probably take years to have much of an effect. Still, I would rather have the bottom of my pans wear out this coating. The grates will take a seasoning, you just wipe them with the smallest amount of oil, and turn the burner back on. Some oils smoke less than others, refined light olive oil is good, this seasoning may burn off and stick to the bottom of your expensive copper pan, especially if it's a fresh seasoning....otherwise, not a problem, and in fact it probably protects the porcelain from wear. The big thing with cast iron, even porcelain cast iron, is to keep it dry. Sometimes you'll see a light 'bloom' of rust on it, just wipe it off. But if rust gets under the porcelain, it will lift it off and chip it. To clean, I use an almost dry scrubby sponge, and leave the bowls on the cooktop. If I spill a mess of flour, or manage to make a complete mess, I do take the bowls to the sink and rinse them there.

My grates are black, and when they look a little goey I toss them in the dishwasher. And boy that does the trick they look like new again. I have heard (don't quote me) that this can cause them to rust. I wonder if this would be the case with SS grates. Mine are some black metal, not sure what they are made of. Right this very moment I'm grateful for a heating pad. I did get all the leaves raked up. There's another one, I'm grateful that my leaf vacuum that chopped up all my leaves and kept them in a bag for me till I was ready to dump them out. While I was working outside, I had my phone in my pocket, which gave me access to my work email. If I had not been able to set up an office from home, or access email via my phone, I might've been out of a job because of COVID. So add them to the list. I'm looking at a set of Bluetooth headphones, that has a microphone in them, which I use to stream video games with my child who lives in another city. We stay connected, laughing and joking, while they play a video game. How many things was that? How about that I'm watching the presidential election results unfold, rather than waiting for a newspaper to print the information? That's pretty dang cool. Because of today's show me yours I'll show you mine post, I just went online I looked at the house that we raised our small son in. Brought back some memories. Texted it to my son. It's an amazing world we live in! Who knows how far we will go!!!

The first thing in my prayers every single day: grateful for my grandson and I both being able to walk. Years ago I went through some serious back issues and wasn’t sure I would be able to walk again; however, thanks to a skilled surgeon, I can. My grandson, now almost 2, was born with a rare genetic condition which can cause total shutdown of the central nervous system. But he was able to receive a one-time treatment which may keep him healthy his whole life. He runs and plays and climbs and laughs. And gives me Mimi Hugs. Our health is priceless and I remember to be thankful for it each day.

I'm thankful that I was able to get up, get ready, and have enough money to write the checks to go pay the bills. I have a roof over my head, good food in my house, and I'm on this side of the dirt again today. Seriously, I always try to find something to be grateful for everyday.

I hope others keep on posting so I can get more ideas.

I'm grateful that God has granted me another day of life, a beautiful sunny 73 degree day, and for the loves of my life: my hubby and daughter, and my friends. I'm thankful for basically good health, and for my new computer which I am still learning.

I'm most grateful for the doctor's who are working so hard to keep my son alive...It started way back in April with another valve replacement, then to failing kidneys, continued fluid buildup, not being able to breath without a respirator, 1 infection after the other, in and out of the hospitals and now a fungal infection on his left lung....He is scheduled for surgery either tomorrow or Wed. in hopes of removing the fungus and sealing up the space so fluid can't get in......So each day I have my son is a blessing and we are most grateful.........

Me too--I'm grateful for another day, fairly good health, a car that works, laughing at my dear grandchildren's funny words, loving family.

Got my flu shot today, grateful for that too.

Joyful, you are so funny (and "lively" too!).

I'm thankful for the beautiful day we had today. Played bridge and won and am thankful for the $4.00 I can contribute to my "Humane Society can". Also thankful for the very nice elderly gentleman in the grocery store that made me smile the first time I saw him and second time I saw him he asked me what to do about not remembering things. I said you're going to have to make a list, but then you have to remember to look at the list. We had a good laugh and it just brightened my day some more.

No work today and that the Tylenol I took this morning relieved most of my back pain. We have med carts that need repair. The wheels are full of string and hair which makes them impossible to push properly. Back was killing me all weekend from pushing the stupid cart. Woke up this morning and I could barely walk. ) :

I've also had back pain, sharp and unnerving, but regular aspirin cures it. I'm sooooooo happy it takes so little to keep me going....:0)

Also my 7 yards of Sunbrella fabric arrived. I'm anxious to get started on my Roman shades. YAY! :0)

I'm grateful for every day I'm given. When I was in the nursing home, after knee replacement, I had a roommate that had the most awful tales to tell about her family's escapades. I was just so grateful for the family that I have!

I'm grateful (and thankful) for this thread this morning. Think I got up on the wrong side of the bed.... but.... the sun will come out (tomorrow?) in a little while and I WILL get up to speed soon.

I am grateful for the phone call I just received from my Cardiologist telling me that all of my heart tests I had done yesterday are fine! Also thankful for the wonderful weather we are having and the beautiful trees that are beginning to turn in my area. Life is good and I am so thankful for it.

I am thankful for my good health, my family, precious Finn, my dog and 3 cats and all my friends at church. I am also thankful that I live in a beautiful, peaceful town and that basketball season starts Nov.2.
