Monday Update

I just got Tanna out the door for kindergarten, Trace is in the living room playing with her little kitchen and Tayler is running around the house in her walker!

Tanna and I had a blast on Friday. She was so stinking cute. We left super early and I just kept her in her pajamas until we got there then I changed her into her clothes. She slept about half the way there and talked nonstop the other half. She had a heck of a time picking out her Halloween costume. It was between Scooby Doo and Hello Kitty. I told her we would run to a couple different stores so she would have time to think about it. At lunch she decided on Hello Kitty so we went back to the store and got her costume. I picked out Trace's costume, she's going as a pumpkin.

Trace had a blast with her dad and grandpa. I made everyone lunch that morning before we left. DH said she was asleep before they reached the mountain. They got her out of the truck when they reached the mountain and she played and played. She got back in the truck, slept until lunch, ate lunch and threw pine cones and dad and grandpa then slept all the way home! When I got her she was covered in dirt and pitch and was wound up from being asleep all day. Fun times for mom!

Tayler had fun at grandmas...they made and decorated Halloween cookies.

Tanna and I brought home pumpkins for everyone and this coming weekend we will carve them. Which at this point might be a challenge. We bought them just little ones that they are insisting on sleeping with. As soon as they fall asleep we sneak in and put the pumpkins on the floor.

Tanna and Trace helped me make soup and homemade bread yesterday.

We had a great weekend just super busy.

Oh, what fun! My three girls are all grown up but your post brings back those days. Sigh..... Are you managing the fatigue ok? That was a real problem for me and sometimes the days and even years just seemed to blend into each other. I'm glad you're having such a good time with the girls--enjoy!

I am exhausted and for the longest time I felt guilty about it. But in order for me to be a good mom I need time outs too. Being an instant mom to three little girls has been tough and the learning curve for DH and I has been huge. Thank goodness we are all learning together. We have our melt downs but they seem to be less and easier.
Right now our biggest challenges seem to be a lot smaller than they used to. The girls bio mom is no longer in the picture and that has made it so nice. We are getting ready to celebrate my grandparents 60 wedding anniversary and I'm not quite sure how we are going to handle this yet since the girls bio mom will be there and so will her mom, the girls grandmother. I don't want to miss it so for right now the plan is for me to attend and leave the girls with their dad. They live out of state so it will be the first time I will be away from the girls but I don't want to put them in a situation they aren't ready for either. We'll figure it out.

From Bradley's Carepage: From dad: I was praying with Angie's favorite Priest up here and in the middle of praying Bradley said "mom"! He actually opened his mouth and said mom. I said, "did you hear that" and as I was asking, "did you hear that" he said it again, "mom". I grabbed my phone and started to call Angie and he said it again.The nurse, the Priest, and myself all heard him say it so I'm not crazy, well......not about this anyways.Angie and I shared some tears before I let her go. He has showed some miracles improvements over the last couple of days, he truly is a miracle! Other news doesn't seem as important, but it is.His cat scan looked great, so they will be installing his shunt sometime on Wednesday.I will be here for that.No way am I going to be gone for any more surgery's!He also got to ride in a stroller(hospital type stroller) and the physical therapy people made him make some decisions on where to go and what to do while they were pushing him along.Today has been AMAZING! I would be....inconsiderate to say the least if I were not say thank you to all of you wonderful people out there praying for him.YOU and GOD are truly making a miracle, so....KEEP IT UP! Please and thank you. Sincerely, Dad P.S. I love all of you! They do have bracelets and T-shirts for fund raisers...besides the big chili supper and silent auction/raffle on March 5. Patti...I understand your feeling, and agree. But, they do have 3 other young children. They have vehicle and mortgage payments plus normal bills that still have to be made also. Angie has been off since this all started over 3 weeks ago. She is only putting in the minimum hours so they can keep the medical insurance. Oh no! That's not fun. You don't need DH to fix it, you can do it! Leaks are often just degraded O-rings, which do eventually happen as they are rubber. I bet if you call Kohler support they can walk you through taking the handle off and finding the problem. It's not hard, and there are only so many parts in there. They may even send the part free. You can get a new sprayer on Amazon for like $22 or something. Should be a snap to replace if they won't send you a new one free. I did read a lot of reports of the plastic snapping like that eventually, but I decided it was an easy enough thing to swap out if I ever needed to, and it's not unusual for something used that much to give like that. Not sure about the hose not retracting, but I'd take a peak underneath and see if the weight is in the right place. It may just need to be adjusted. Mine looks like a plastic tie off keeps it from going too low, my guess is over time that may wiggle it's way too low. Kohler support could probably help with these pretty quickly. Needed to add: if you need to lubricate anything in this process, use it sparingly. I learned the hard way that more lubricant doesn't help. We had a lever that wouldn't stay put for weeks after I went overboard with the lubricant, and I was too lazy to take it all back apart to wipe it off. What would be gained by deleting old posts? Diane's cousin and her mother KNOW where the girls are. They know the girls' names and ages. I can see being less specific in future posts -- not posting where you are going on vaction, the girls' special friends names, news of school field trips, etc. Perhaps if they knew HOW the girls are, how well they are doing, some of this possessive 'attitude' would cease -- if they can see how this benefits the GIRLS. I am impressed with Toni's post on holding out the possibility of some future contact for Megan. It could accomplish several good things -- one being to get Megan off your back until/unless she shapes up -- setting 'the rules' in stone. IF she can put the girls' welfare first, and if the girls WANT IT, she could have *supervised* contact with them from time to time. It's hardly surprising that Megan showed up at your door. You handled it, but YOU WERE NOT PREPARED for it. I don't know if the girls would benefit from counseling. I have thought all along that you could save yourself and the girls grief by seeking some help in advance of crisis. Given the lives they've led, it would be foolish to think that the girls will somehow mend on just biscuits and love. (Goes a long way, but really...) No law will change the fact that these are Megan's children. She's not mothering them. You are. They may need to know they will have the choice of seeing her one day. Maybe they just want to know her whereabouts, to be CLEAR about her role in their lives and your role. You can't 'erase' her -- that makes her a scary ghost. You don't want paranoid kids and you don't want to live behind barbed wire with a snarling guard dog. It's not easy. You knew that. Other people have experience with how to make it less hard on you and on the children -- and, yes, on Megan. There are some win/win possibilities. I am NOT saying you should ignore all danger of 'snatching'. I AM saying there are ways to defuse the situation. See what family counseling is available. Try it. You can always decide to accept or reject what you learn. There may even be a support group of parents in similar situations. (I like self-help groups!)

I am sure things will fall into place and his folks will help out. Also your husband's fire buddies/families will help out also. Have a great trip.

Sounds like you have a good plan. I hope you enjoy the visit, and please don't worry about being tired all the time. (Hmm, that doesn't sound quite right. :)) The longer you're a mom, the easier it will be to let certain things go. A messy house isn't much of a big deal anymore, is it??

maybe it will be big enough family day you can have a quiet time with your gparents and sort of skirt around the rest...i think it's a good thing dad stays home with the kids...

another thought? are your granparents able to travel? why not invite them over for a one on one with the girls sometime? i know this has been very difficult for all the elders involved...

don't you love halloween, but! since this is your "first", don't forget to check the candy the girls get, if you take them out...save the outfits for the dress-up box..and if you have access to target, ect, be sure to look for sale items the kids can wear for everyday after...(plus if you come across costumes cheap enough)

Sounds really terrific..... and busy as bees.. it seems like when the coolness of autumn rolls around,people get re-enrgized... and it makes me smile to read your posts..
