Monday Update - Bradley...a little light! :)

Kalie just emailed me and said that Bradley is TALKING! Angie had to go back to work today, and while there, he started asking for her!

He has been just whining when he has wanted something, well with mom gone (dad is with him today), he had to do more than just whine!! =)

Dad wrote: "Little Bradley has made some amazing recoveries.He was literally trying to sit up in bed, and he would get so mad he would kick me and the nurse pretty good. When the nurse would start to speak he would recognize his voice and start to cry, then he would try to move away from him. When that didn't work he would start kicking him and try to keep him at bay with his foot.I would try to calm Bradley down and I would get a foot to the face and occasionally to the nose. All I could do was smile for he can do so much more with his body......it's amazing!I think he's just tired of being restrained (he's planing his big escape)."

Such small but HUGE steps! Especially when they were told by Dr./Surgeons after the 2nd (3 so far!) surgery that they didn't think he would still be with us!

Please continue to keep he and his family in your prayers!

Hi all, I took my grandmother to the Top of the Falls restaurant today for her birthday. So I was back at the brink again! It is a very pretty view of the falls from the restaurant. Char, I'm glad you like the poems. Shirley, One of the most beautiful things I ever experienced was driving at dawn through the Blue Ridge mountains in the Virgina/North Carolina area. I drive through there every year on my way to Key Largo, but one year we went later than normal. The Red Buds and white flowering shrubs were in bloom. It was absolutely gorgeous! Klickitat, I didn't realize it was your first veggie garden! That is exciting. The veggies taste so good. Gary made some fried eggplant from the garden yesterday. It was so yummy. Maryanne, You got some nice shots. The butterfly came out so good. And you did go on the balloon! I give you a lot of credit. You would never get me on that thing! Good Morning! I am back from the deep south and glad to see that you guys partied hearty without me! LOL Raeanne - Thanks for holding up the birthday traditions while I was gone. (If you want lessons in GIF 101, I can help. LOL) NHSuzanne - Those pictures are gorgeous! I too want to know what kind of camera you have. DH told me that while we were gone the weather turned cold up north. It is back to being hot and humid now though! BJ - So glad to hear that all went well and that you are up and around. (We never doubted for a second that you would come through with flying colors.) Jen - I agree that cleaning closets can be cathartic, but I hope you got to do some other fun things too. Dee's package sounded like fun. She is a great birthday partner! Tikanas - I hope you got to read your birthday wishes, even if you can't post. Email someone in the group and update us on your life. Inquiring minds want to know. Amy - I went to Lafayete, LA to visit my DD for a week, but thanks for missing me. I am glad to hear that you are still painting. I treasure my picture from you and look at it daily. Besh - I too love Heavenly from VS. My DD turned me onto it. I usually buy her some for her birthday and Christmas, but she said she has had to stop wearing scented lotions and sprays because of the bugs in LA. Donna - WTG with WWatchers. Your renovations sound wonderful. Any before and after pictures to show us?? Gretchen - What can I say? What a nice surprise to log on and see a post from you. I thought for a second you had moved to California, since you are now calgret, but I see you are still in Chicago. Please keep posting, we missed you. Patti - I hope you reached Dallas ok. My first Houston experience was WET! On the way to LA, it poured in Houston on my layover and my luggage got soaked. They must have left it out in the open at some point. I had to wash all my clothes when I got to DD's apartment. But my flights weren't delayed, so I got out on time and my return flight was uneventful. I met a really nice lady on my first layover and it turned out we had the same birthday. We chatted and tried not to notice the wind and rain outside! LOL Have with your DGD!!! Magic Kitty - Haven't seen a post from you lately. How are you holding up in the FL heat? DeeMarie - I hope you are having wonderful weather and enjoying every minute of your cruise. And speaking a enjoying every minute, that is exactly what I did in LA. Despite the heat and humidity, DD and I had a wonderful time. We explored the swamps, two plantations homes, went searcing for alligators, ate seafood, sampled Cajun cuisine and music and just spent some Mother/daughter time. The week went fast but I hope to be able to visit her again before they transfer out of the area. I will post a few pictures in the album when I get a chance. Now I have one more trip over Labor Day weekend and then I start back to school on 9/4. Part of me is looking forward to a paycheck, but part of me doesn't want the summer to end! Good to see alot has made it here this week. Went shopping today and didn't get as much bought as I was hoping for. DD will do some more for me next week. I owe so much to her for always being there for me. So glad your feeling better Anj and hope you continue to improve. I bet it is hard with only one auto with your busy schedule. Can hardly wait to see your blocks. Your weather sounds alot like ours. It's been in the teens but today while in town the sun came out and it hit the 20's.Woohoo Belle, seems odd anyone could have to many totes. It is nice that all of you will spend time together. Can't imagine what you've gone through. Our roads are pretty good most days. They've started using salt and that scares me for the future of our autos. May have to trade sooner than normal. Thanks for the commnt on my Holiday posts. You should spend more time there and you will become addicted real fast.lol Luvs is such a great enabler. I no longer have room for new dishes at my home! They are a great bunch but it has taken me away from my painting. I now love doing tablescapes too. I've always loved to decorate for the Holidays but now I'm into tablescapes too.lol Luvs, great to hear you had a nice luncheon with the girls. I ran into an old co-worker today and she said she would be coming to the office so we can catch up on the lastest. I'm so glad that most of my friends come and visit me there cuz I don't have alot of time to go see them like I use to. Did you start your Christmas decorating today? You are a smart woman to shop during the week. Town was so busy and it's hard running from store to store to find what gifts one wants. I forget to check on a couple of things and had to go back only to find out they didn't have it any way! I also left my purse in the resturant! Thank goodness when I returned it was still there. That was so scary. All I could do was think of all my cash, cr crds, checkbook, smart phone and tremble...Will say my prayers again tonight for the safe recovery. We are not sure when we will be moving the office with this weather. We have alot of snow and slush most days and I have no desire to try to move in that. We had a customer in and said the farmers almanac says that we will be getting warmer weather by the 10th and winter is almost over. I sure hope he's right. I haven't read the FA for several years but they use to be pretty close at predicting the weather. So are all of you cooking Christmas dinner? I will be but we haven't discussed all the details yet. Did you know that they have a turkey fryer that you can use inside your home now? DS wanted to buy one for us but since we have the outside one we didn't get it. In time I'm sure we will tho. That would be so nice to be able to cook out in the garage during bad weather. I best go over to Holidays and see what's new before heading to bed. I'm pretty tired after shopping all day and then wrapping gifts...

Thank you for the kind comments. It was a labor of love. Especially the sink (refinished two times before it was done right) The cabinet color is Ellen Kennon Mushroom except on the island we darkened the mushroom like 30% or something. I forgot the exact mix but it was whatever Ellen recommended. . The wall color is Ben Moore Roman Column trim color is Ben Moore Cloud White The cabinets are Conestoga ordered through Jim Barton at Cabinet Joint The marble is Calacutta gold polished The faucets are Rohl and I LOVE them The windows are Anderson Eagle We custom made the vent hood on site. Lots of friction with the hubby on that one. Another labor of love! The painter had the idea to add the gold accent to the vent hood. It's kind of crazy but I think it's fun and pulls everything together. The range is vintage O'Keffe and Merit and the stamped steel sink is vintage as well. Our house is a little bungalow so it's just one open room. Here are a few more angles including the living room

This is such hopeful news! I am keeping Bradley and his family in my prayers.

Sandy, we have a 10 year old boy in our Church who is diabetic and was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor. They are trying to shrink it with chemo before surgery, but he is not tolerating it very well. Yesterday they handed out wrist bracelets with his name on it to help us to remember to pray for him. They were giving them away but you could make a donation to help with the traveling and expenses. I just wondered if this is something that Bradley's family or friends could do.

Oh, Sandy, this does sound so good; I think of him so very often, and will continue with the prayers for him, and for his family.

Thanks so much for the update....I check daily. His talking and kicking are sure very encouraging signs.( Thank you, God) Keep fighting Bradley while we continue praying.

It's good that he is talking and awake...but I would see a red flag if he cried everytime that male nurse comes in.

I'm so sorry the parents don't have a job that will give them some time off for something so serious. I would be a basket case if I had to leave my little one up there.

From dad: I was praying with Angie's favorite Priest up here and in the middle of praying Bradley said "mom"! He actually opened his mouth and said mom. I said, "did you hear that" and as I was asking, "did you hear that" he said it again, "mom". I grabbed my phone and started to call Angie and he said it again.The nurse, the Priest, and myself all heard him say it so I'm not crazy, well......not about this anyways.Angie and I shared some tears before I let her go. He has showed some miracles improvements over the last couple of days, he truly is a miracle!
Other news doesn't seem as important, but it is.His cat scan looked great, so they will be installing his shunt sometime on Wednesday.I will be here for that.No way am I going to be gone for any more surgery's!He also got to ride in a stroller(hospital type stroller) and the physical therapy people made him make some decisions on where to go and what to do while they were pushing him along.Today has been AMAZING! I would be....inconsiderate to say the least if I were not say thank you to all of you wonderful people out there praying for him.YOU and GOD are truly making a miracle, so....KEEP IT UP!

They do have bracelets and T-shirts for fund raisers...besides the big chili supper and silent auction/raffle on March 5.

Patti...I understand your feeling, and agree. But, they do have 3 other young children. They have vehicle and mortgage payments plus normal bills that still have to be made also. Angie has been off since this all started over 3 weeks ago. She is only putting in the minimum hours so they can keep the medical insurance. She is waiting to use the Medical Family Leave (I believe that is what it is called) for further down the road.
