Rainy ,rainy day.....I guess I'll have to clean house....lol

It has been raining since sometime yesterday afternoon....

Sometime bucketloads...

Lot of thunder and lightening last night that woke me up.

Next week is our annual Fall Festival....so since I can't play outside I guess I should work on getting house ready...

What are you going to do today?

I have some house cleaning I really should do, but I want to hide out in my sewing room - I'm working on a quilt that I'm anxious to finish.

I spent about a day and a half cleaning out and reorganizinf our garage. I thought I had it all done, but there is a bottom drawer of one of our tool chests that I discovered when I opened it to put something in it that I haven't decluttered yet. I will do that sometime in the next few days.
It is 57Â°outside right now and going to be partly cloudy all day. The high temp is supposed to be 74Â°. It's a perfect day to clean the shed in the back yard. It's supposed to rain tomorrow, so I'll clean house then.

I don't do anything other than to keep a close eye on it. Drain it down when needed and straighten up any damage that occurs. Only thing I have had is when the wind blows the net around it sometimes drags a marginal plant into the bottom of the pond. Then I go "diving". Not really. If I stand down on the 2 ft shelf around the edge of the pond I can usually grab the plant by the stems and raise it up to where it belongs. It's not as heavy when it is under water. Only had to do that a couple of times. Once the net came loose around the edges and part of it sunk into the pond and the next day I had fish swimming on the top side and the underside of the net. So I had to catch the ones that were on top with a hand net and stretch the net back out and secure it around the edges again. So now I just make sure it is tucked around the edges tightly. I don't have any trees very close to the pond so don't have to worry about a lot of leaves and limbs or debrie falling into the pond.Oh, and one time before I was using a net on the pond the picnic table umbrella blew off and landed in the pond. So now I take the umbrella down when not in use and especially when it is windy or a storm is coming. Glenda

We are now having serious rain showers aka cloudbursts. I was in my greenhouse potting up those amaryllis and it was just like being inside a waterfall! Kind of fun! I closed the vents at the roof peak, and let her rip. DH was out drilling the forgotton weep holes in the framework so he is way wetter then me! I even found a gap in the rain to get back to the house (About 30'away) but It would have been easier had I worn my boots! Anyhow, all my big orders of amies are now planted except for one that came with an inch and a half long crack between the basal plate and layers of the bulb. As far as I can see, that whole section of the bulb has no way to get nutrition from the roots. I'll try to photograph it tomorrow and show you and see what you think...should I complain to Van Engelen or just plant it and see what happens. IT looks healthy so far, but I can't imagine any scenario but rot. It is one of 3 Evergreens, the ones I most want to do well.

@ Roselee, Yes, I can see the Milky Way and I have some favorite lightning bug sightings that were down right jaw dropping and other worldly.. I am remembering one because the person I saw it with , died this week. We were down on the banks of the Pedernales. we spent a sunset swimming under Ol'Glory, a immense cypress that survived the big floods of the 30's and 50"s. It must be in a sweet spot. The many roots of dead Cypress structures created glorious Rorschach structures in the glassy still waters. we cooked our meals and watched the stars come out and there were millions of them in the moonless night. then the millions of lightning bugs came out all over the undergrowth of the opposite bank down to the river. All were reflected in the glassy waters , stars, bugs, all together, just a vague dividing line between the changing dimensions. It went on for hours. WE slowly waded in till thigh deep in the stars and dove into the reflected lightning bugs and then floated on our backs looking up into the convergence of the sparkling trees and stars like fat bloated water bugs, arms outstretch still and quiet. . This supplanted the last amazing sighting of watching one of those amazing multi-level towering Texas storms sprouting a constant hair of lightning from its upper levels , snaking in the convolutions of green cloud, lighting up like glow worms and snakes in the clouds depths. Out of the lower levels, tree lightning snaked outwards for miles above our head,. and again millions of lightning bugs answering their brethren of the skies. Also an amazing sighting. They definitely rank among the memories that I treasure that have made me forget to close my gaping mouth. Amazing things can be encompassed by "Golly miss Molly" Thank you guys for making me delve into the memory banks.

Like blfenton I am doing what I would do on a sunny day. Walk my clients' dogs or my dogs, do gardening for my clients or for myself Etc on work days. On non work days I do normal household stuff. Maybe I cook a little bit more on rainy days though. I live just outside of Vancouver and it is rainy a lot. Today was sunny though and it is supposed to be sunny on Halloween as well :-)

Linda said it's suppose to get party cloudy, but right
now the sun is still shining.

I have been getting my plants re-potted and cleaned up
to bring inside to the patio. I'm cutting back on
how many get to come in this year.

The yard is getting messy with leaves, but I just bother to sweep the ones near the door for right now!

Rain, and more rain. 2.75" over night. Water is standing all over the back park area. Still coming down.
I'm driving mom to her coffee group (in Omaha today) then picking up Jayden on my way home. Jayden's mommy is going to a dr's appointment with her dad after they both get off work.

I'll probably sit in my recliner, watch some tv, and play on my laptop. I'm trying to really take it easy until I'm not so breathless. Wish we could get some of that rain.

I would love to send you some Maryann! It's raining here too. I am doing laundry for my friend, that's here visiting. She is out, doing the stuff she needs to do (visit former co workers etc.) I already did some cleaning in the kitchen, and plan to work at the garage today. Not hot in there today. LOL

Need to go and get my bike out of the shop too. Might do this around noon, to go to lunch with another friend.

Meanwhile, I should get off here.

Had a nice water class, warm as our bubble is up over the pool.

Here in SW Pa, it's sunny but cold, only going up to low 50s today.... Good day to give the kitchen a good cleaning and put up the fall/winter curtains....

took the loaner car (my van that was repaired was leaking water from the windshield) and out to "walk" wal mart and pick up some things for dinner...have to finish up laundry and should be done for awhile...the rain isn't due here till saturday...(and we have soccer with the grands, yuck)

irishd, do you put up thermal? this will be our second year with them and think it really made a difference...in fact if i could find the "right" color i'd do the bedrooms upstairs...

Let's see...predicted high for today is 93...think I'll stay in with the A/C on and get some work done!! Sure could use some of that wet stuff if you could send some to CA.

I have been busy bringing in the plants that I want to keep over the Winter. I brought the two Hibiscus in a couple days ago since the weather guy was warning us of a frost. Today I cut back the Mandavilla and brought it in. Also two large hanging begonias and one Coleus. I've never tried to keep a Coleus, but it was just too pretty to throw out. They are all in the end of the garage where I have an entrance door with windows.

Also I dumped some container plants, and took down the deck umbrella and brought it in. I'm right proud of myself!!

The weather today has been perfect with sunshine, and temps in the high 60's. S'posed to get some of that rain on Saturday, when the family will be here for my DD's birthday. I hope it will hold off though.

Enjoy the weather while we can. Winter is just aeound the bend.
