Awesome! I'll bet your DH treats his Mom well, also. I once heard that you can determine how good of a husband a man will be by observing how he treats his Mom. It worked in my case. DH always treated his Mom wonderfully, and I've kept him around for 49 years now.....

Aww...that's great. I'm sure she knows how happy you made her son for so many years! I've been blessed with two great mothers-in-law and have lost both of them. RIP both you sweet, sweet ladies.

That is very cool! Your dh is very lucky too; to have two awesome women in his life! My mil & I have an ok relationship; but looking back, I wish I would've put more effort into it years ago.

Both my husbands' mothers had died when we married, so I never had to worry about a MIL.

I was thinking the same way. She knows how wonderful you treated her son for so many years and how much you loved each other....that goes a long way in a mothers heart as I am sure you know.

That is so nice, and says so much about both of you. My mother-in-law would never have stated it that way, but we never had a cross word between us either. And when she gave me her engagement and wedding rings, I thought that said a lot.

How could she not love you? You are a good person and were a wonderful wife to your late husband, her son. I'm happy for the love between both of you. I dearly loved my MIL and she loved me too.

What a lovely thing to hear! You are evidently true Mother and Daugeter to one another, not just 'cause the 'law' says so!

I really don't know WHAT my late MIL thought of me. Maybe just grateful I took her 'burden' off her hands. (Yeah, she didn't love him.) I was 'dutiful' toward her; she was manipulative, pretty much un-loveable.

I had a real tough one for a MIL but I always showed her love and respect because she was my Hubby's Mother and the grandmother of our children. I would not have wanted it any other way.. I knew in her way she loved us all.

I regret I wasn't closer to my MIL. She caused a few problems betwenn her son and me, that hurt a lot. She also seemed to like her daughter's children better than she liked our kids. Too bad, she's gone now, we both lost out.

Yes you are very lucky, I don't think my MIL or DIL's even liked me, no less be a friend.

My boyfriend's, Mother thought I was the best thing that ever happened to him and we loved each other. She had 6 kids 3 boys and 3 girls. My Dave lost an eye when he was 6 yrs old, put out with one of those toy bow and arrows, without the rubber tip on the arrow. He spent a year in the hospital. So he was her favorite. She lived in Montana, when it was time to give up her home and move to a retirement appt, she wanted me to have her china! She knew I would take care of it and use it. Of course, the girls or one of them anyway had inherited hers from a grandmother. When we were back there visiting she asked Dave to pick out anything he wanted. He's more sentimental than I am. He wanted things that had come down from his favorite aunts, etc. She told me she wanted me to have the china. It's beautiful and she bought it a piece at a time. His family said, of course, Dave got everything. The only thing I would have wanted besides some quilts was the china, but I never said that. After all there we're 3 daughters and 2 daughers-in-law, we we'ren't married but have been together 24 years. Like I said we loved and respected each other. Did I mention that she really didn't have anything?

That's wonderful that you have such a great relationship with each other. I'm sure she knows how much you loved her son.

I can't think of a sweeter thing she could've said to you. You should be proud (and thank the heavens daily) for such a kind MIL.
