Sounds like things are coming together for them. Hopefully they will have their electric soon and schools will be open again.

Here is a link to the website.

I love it!! I've been looking at the selection of political cartoons featured on MSN.ca every Saturday and I am amazed (and amused) at the creativity of these writers and artists.

So funny about the frozen peas on the floor! I also know a dog who ate tomatoes off the vine, another dog who gets some canned string beans on her dinner every night and also loves raw carrots (and her name is Sadie) and I remember a former cooking forum member whose dog played with a big stalk of romaine lettuce til it was a goner and then ate it.

I'm sure that your basic good health made you a good candidate for the treatment. I'm too old for stem cell to treat my multiple myeloma, but not having any of the underlying problems is a plus. With MM, I will require chemo in remission. It would be monthly instead of the current weekly regime of 40 mg dexamethasone plus a $4000 shot of Velcade. It's working! My IgG started at 6000 in May. This week I'm at 1920. Normal is 700 - 1600. X-rays show no changes/resolution of the bone lesions though, and the scarring causes some pain.

Here's some more good news...an antibody from a llama shows promise in preventing the virus from infecting cells. https://bigthink.com/coronavirus/coronavirus-treatment-llama?rebelltitem=4#rebelltitem4 The new antibody, which is based on antibodies produced by llamas, neutralizes a key protein on the virus, called the spike protein. The virus uses this spike protein to invade human cells. "This is one of the first antibodies known to neutralize SARS-CoV-2," Jason McLellan, associate professor of molecular biosciences at UT Austin and co-senior author, told The University of Texas at Austin News. So far, the team has shown only that the antibody works in vitro on a fake version of the coronavirus. (The technical term is pseudotyped, which means a version of the virus that can't infect people, but does display the spike proteins). The team plans to soon conduct trials on animals, and then, depending on those results, on people.

Great news susanjf for your family!

Just this afternoon, I spoke with our younger sister,Connie a resident of Sugarland, Texas (they were HIT pretty bad) and their schools aren't opening until Monday. They are not "scheduled" for restoration of electricity for another 2 weeks! She said generator rentals were as high as $1000.00 and it would only run a refrigerator and small fan!

She works in an OB/GYN office and her Doctor "expected" her to come in to work TODAY! I. along with Vicki was totally appalled at that....our sister (along with others)has/have no power, natural gas much less water...not to mention gasoline is totally unavailable!

Vicki and I were in total shock that she actually expected Connie to leave her children, home and the mess to come to work!!!! Connie, a single mom with 2 teenage daughters at home was making arrangements to accommodate her employer as she is afraid she could lose her job!!!

I think she is totally convinced to sell her house and move to Nevada!

One of my friends is a librarian here in Houston, and she was called in to work on Monday. I think that is completely APPALLING!!! On Monday we were knee deep in clean up efforts at home, but the county insists the library opens up fully staffed? Come on...that is not right. Having the libraries open on Monday was not a necessity - it was foolish in my opinion.
