Pics! Some good news and some bad news.
Comments (14)Thanks for the compliments on the annual pot! I worked for a private gardener one summer many years ago and my job was to do the annual pots and take care of them all summer. They ordered truck loads of gorgeous and rare annuals for their customers. I WISH I had access to something more interesting, but I make due (sp?) with what the local nurseries sell.... geraniums, million bells, licorice, potato vines, petunias, etc... I have 2 of these pots in my back done the same way and every year all I do is change the color of the million bells and geranium. It always comes out nice, but I think I'm getting bored with the same design every year. Oops, sorry to go on... thanks!...See MoreGood timing for some early risers
Comments (17)Mbug, you are way ahead of many of us with the yard work! The newly applied mulch showcases your hostas beautifully. It is so nice to see them at this stage and the colours are so vivid. So fresh, so spring-like! Love it! So motivating! Blue Cadet is drool-worthy. Perfection of a mature hosta at this stage...can't wait to see it fully open. Seeing your MD, I am excited about what I can expect from my Mourning Dove...having only acquired it last year. The muted colour it is showing at unfurling is so soothing. You said you moved it... to less sun or...? Jon, you must be so excited! You did so much planting last year - must be gratifying to see those l a r g e shoots showing! So lovely. (I thought if I posted a photo of my teeny pips right after your photos, peeps would peer and say...so, where are the hostas?...lol) "Spring has sprung / The grass is riz / I wonder where dem birdies is!" from where do I remember that ditty???...See MoreSome good news to share
Comments (51)Thank you all for your good wishes - I am thankful for my return to good health, and for your concern. I appreciate your prayers ... and pray as much as pleases you, Anne - for whomever. The treatments were radiation weekdays from Jan. 6 till Feb. 24, and they said that I'd probably feel a bit worse for a couple of weeks, which I did, but began to improve and have been my old self for several moths. ... no, that's "months", please! Have not had any ongoing treatment, except that they recommended calcium and Vitamin D, which I've been doing. I'm to return in late Feb. ... will be 6-month intervals for a few years, it appears. Sorry about the rather abrupt message last night - the library was about to close. ole joyfuelled...See MoreBest time to bring home new puppy?
Comments (17)Saltidawg, I am sorry you feel that way. I have a breed that was on the verge of extinction. I have flown over to Europe multiple times and brought pups back with me on the plane. Lovingly tucked into the seat beside me. How do you think most of the purebreeds got here to the USA to begin with? As there are only a handful that are native to the USA they have to get here somehow. I have buyers fly and drive to my home from states away in order to pick up their pups. A fabulous breed that was about to go by the wayside while people spend three times as much for a designer hybrid with no history , no health tests, no working or conformation tests. I consult with the president of the breed club in the native country on a regular basis to determine best breeding pairs, how to promote the best practices with regards to achieving genetic diversity. I participate in activities that my breed was bred for in order to make sure that my dogs are mentally and physically stimulated and are still up to performing the tasks they are intended for. I am also a breeder who will always take back any dog from my breeding. And am involved with breed rescue when needed. Personally I’m pretty thrilled that you and I have nothing to discuss. Unless your breed is a native to your country, you are relying on someone before you to have somehow gotten your breed into your hands. Or did they teleport? The ends justify the means?...See Moreshare_oh
