My heart goes out to you... it's been almost 6 months since I lost my Mom/my closest friend. And although I am still reeling from the pain, it is no long constant and it DOES get easier. Grief is not linear, in that it does not continue in one direction toward feeling better. It ebbs and flows, and you need to go with it in order to heal.

"Family" can sometimes be messy and complicated, which is especially revealed during stressful times.

Re-visit this thread now and again; the words expressed here can be a source of comfort to you in the months ahead.

So Sorry. The family situation made it even more worse. One day, pick up the pieces of your grief and show the world what a good person your mom raised. Thats the best tribute to her.

I'm so very sorry for your loss. May the pleasant memories you have of your mother get you through these tough times.

Please know how deeply sorry I feel for you. I can't imagine the pain you feel. I lost my mother when I was two. You have had something I have never known. A mother's love. Take comfort in your memories, they will get you through.
If I knew where you were on the west coast I'd come over to stay with you. We could have a good cry together. Please when you are ready make plans with someone that's coming to Ricky's swap and come over and talk plants. I'd love to meet you.

Junkyardgird I am sorry you have lost your Mom. Remember the good times with her, let yourself cry. Your Mom will continue to love you from above - that will never stop. I lost my Mom in June and I miss her too. But I know she is in a better place and no longer suffering. I continue to love my family that has passed on and are together again and I know they continue to love me.

It is so hard to lose your loving mother. My mom has been gone 11 years now. Treasure those loving memories and know that your mom is always with you, part of her resides in your heart forever.

Families can be a great treasure or a monumental pain. So sorry that yours is the latter. It may be helpful to make new friends both here and in your world who are supportive and positive. Remember the old adage that we can't choose family but we can choose our friends. Hugs to you in this difficult time.

I am so sorry for your loss. I dread the day my Mom dies. She is 90 and has a serious medical condition so only a matter of time. I know how you feel about remaining in touch with your family. It will be the same with me. Please remember the good times you had with her and cherish those memories.

I just let it go. Remember the good times and find friends to give you the emotional support you need.

It's sad to say, but sometimes, even though they are family, it's best to just step back. We went thru something very similar when my hubby's mom died.....her family has not spoken to any of us since. It's been over 2 years now. It's very sad, as all of the cousins were very close at one time.
Just take care of yourself as best you can...the rest will work itself out.

I add my condolences to those already posted. I'm saddened, not only by your loss, but the spitefulness of your sister. She is loosing so very much and can not see it...she's to be pitied, I think.

Your son who buys into her attitude will eventually see the light. It may take several years, but it WILL happen - slowly, perhaps, but he'll wake up. Your son who has only an email cannot blame anyone but himself that he didn't know 'sooner'. Send an email, and painful as it is, let it go. It's all you can do. I'm glad your cousins called; your aunt is grieving, too; hopefully, she'll call you soon.

Your mom knew how very much she meant to you, and you know you were so loved by her in return. I know you'll never forget this.

May memories give you comfort, friends give you support, and may God give you peace as only He can.

I am so sorry. I miss my Mom so much and she has been gone for 34 years. I had no brothers or sisters and wished so many times that I did. However, I do know that when decisions have to be made, sometimes it is easier to be an only child. Keep your chin up and do as you know your Mom would want you to.

I'm sorry for your loss. I lost my mother 2 years and still feel the empty space in my life. I understand the feeling of being an orphan even though I was over 50 when Mom passed. I'm glad to hear you are focusing on the good moments you had with your Mother, not on the actions of a few family members. Your love brought her infinite joy, I'm sure.

I'm sorry to read you are going through this now, with the added burden of a difficult family. I think you've received some good advice here but I'd like to add the suggestion of grief counseling. There are groups that are sometimes but not always associated with a church, or individual therapists. It sounds like you need some really good sympathy and advice right now! Please, if you're so upset you just can't stand it, go and stay with a friend, or ask one to come stay with you. And keep checking in with the kt, as this has got to be the kindest bunch of people I've ever had the pleasure to "meet". May God give you strength and peace.

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your mother.....I can't even begin to imagine what a hole that must leave in your life.....just remember that even though she is gone her memory and the good times you've had together lives on in you. When my husband lost his mother he said the best thing anyone said to him was "it sucks"..... our thoughts are with you.

I'm so very sorry. Just remember all the good talks you had...you know she loved you very much. And that is what counts.

Family doesn't have to be blood related. Keep the "toxic" people out of your life. Surround yourself with friends and people you actually like and who support you! There is always someone here at the KT willing to lend an ear or a shoulder to cry on, so please don't feel alone!

I know it hurts, and it's okay to feel sad, but then do something to make yourself feel better-take a walk, a hot bath, write in a journal-whatever it is that comforts you. Your mom will always be with you in your heart.

I'm sorry for all you are going through. Please know we are here for you. You have alot of reasons to go on. Some days it's all you can do to put one foot in front of the other. Grieving will take it's time but there will be light at the end of this tunnel.
