I am snow white now and love it. Get so many compliments and even those that ask if I put anything on mine.

I kept mine colored for years, but, last time, my hair was colored it had an orangie cast to it.

My hair stylist told me it was time to go natural. That was 14 years ago.

Now my sister, red head, always kept hers hair red, and 6 0r 7 years ago, she decided to let hers go natural.

White does NOT become her.

I have good genetics on my side....I am 70 and haven't colored my hair due to gray, ever.
I have dark hair with lots and lots of silver highlights......my Mom have beautiful salt and pepper gray hair when she died at age 59. My sister is 83 and her hair is really pretty, too....a lot more gray than brown but becomes her face and skin coloring.
I am blessed!

I have never colored my hair, in my opinion most color jobs don't look natural to me and I want natural. I always thought I might experiment with non permanent color when my hair turned white, but alas in my family I would be 80 and not interested. I think white hair is beautiful.

I kind of welcome some gray. I used to have lighter golden blond hair but it has been getting darker every year to the point I lighten it with highlights sometimes, sometimes use a level two temporary color to lighten it a bit.(I did a permanent lightening all over once and hated the dark roots) Now I am getting some grays it is lightening my color and has more texture than my otherwise limp hair. But my younger sister, by 9 years has way more gray than me and its driving her bonkers, but like me is not into the high upkeep of coloring her hair.

So, I guess, bring on the gray.

I did it. I put a lighter than normal brown on my hair. As the color faded, it got lighter and lighter and blended fairly well. Then, when it got a few inches grown out, I cut it short. I was really surprised how gray I was. But, it's rather pretty. It does make me feel old, however.

I think I quit coloring my hair when I was in my late 20's or maybe 30's. I started to frost it till it grew out, and now I frost it a few times a year. I would never want to do all that dying again.

I think it really depends on what becomes you. I don't look good with light hair of any shade so I doubt my grey would look good either.

At almost 60 I still don't have lines. Many women in their 30s have more crows' feet than I do. Not to say I don't look old just that I don't have the lines to go with gray hair yet.

I think some young women,with the right skin tone, who grey prematurely are lovely with grey hair. Light hair just doesn't work for me yet.

I started lightening mine as my dark hair started to get some grey. Coloring to match the natural dark just washed out in a hurry, so thats when I started to gently lightening, ustil one day I realized I was a blond. Yeah I know, I'm slow. I did that until 2002 when I was in the hospital 4 months and when I got home my hair had grown quite a bit, and when my hairdresser came to my house to give me a cut, all of the colored/lightened hair was cut off, and I haven't done anything else but an occasional perm since then. I always thought I wanted to have the pretty white hair, but it is more salt & pepper. Oh, I was 66 when I went natural.

I am 57 and stopped coloring about 10 years ago, I was salt and pepper....now more salt than pepper!

My dad had dark brown hair until the day he died at age 88. My mom,who had black hair, turned gray at age 16. Unfortunately, although I have my dad's hair color, I inherited enough genes from mom to get some gray. I am 71, still color my hair brown and told my beautician that once I can no longer get my arms up over my head, that "she" will have that job. I want my brown hair until the day I die.

I've been coloring my hair since I was in high school. I wantewd a little blond. I used to pour lemon juice in my hair and sit in the sun. Then I used Nice N Easy in a Box, then Preference. For a few years, I went totally platinum blond and got professional root touch-ups-Gawd how those chemicals burned-and stunk! I quit going for hair coloring in 2001. I let my natural brown grow out. I get highlights now to blend in the grays. And professional cut/shaping every couple of months.

At 63 I still have mostly honey colored blond hair. There's a little greying at the temples and throughout the rest of my hair but at this point you don't notice it. I used to color it when I was young but stopped in the early 80's. If I don't like the looks of it later I'll color it. My problem now is thinning hair, especially on top.

I started graying early at about mid 30's. I didn't color it right away but when I did, I went brown, my natural color. then about 10 years ago, I went blond. I still use basically the same color and have thought about letting it go natural. I would be mostly white now with some gray but my hair does have a natural shine to it so it might look nice. I just can't bring myself to do it - I don't think of myself as 59 yet - .

My hairdresser says what she would do would go lighter in the coloring so that as it grows out it wouldn't have such a contrast my natural color. My hair grows really fast, even though it has thinned out the last couple of years. I have a standing appt.once a month for color and cut.

Soon to be 61 and thinking I want to go gray. I have about 2" of gray roots right now. Still trying to decide. My Cuz went gray and we all told her "go back". Her face is way to young for gray.

If I had beautiful WHITE hair, I'd stop coloring it in a minute, but my hair is mostly a dull grey, and I have a patch right in front that is still the dark, dark brown (nearly black) of my youth.

Well...maybe I wouldn't stop coloring. A neighbor's son came home from college and asked his mom, "Who's that old lady walking Mrs. So-and-so's dog?" (Mrs. So-and-so had stopped coloring her hair while he was away.) Urg.

I started coloring to a light brown when my dark brown was too much contrast for my face post-menopause. I have 'color and cut' every five to six weeks. I do hate the time it takes and my sinuses don't like the chemicals!

I don't do anything to mine, its a light blond with a bit of gray here and there,long and straight. I haven't even had it cut for a couple of years. Most of the time, its so hot I just keep it up in a clip. I think I want to get a spiral perm for the winter though. A change would be nice !

A friend of mine had dark brown hair and colored it lighter so the gray blended in, then stopped coloring and let the gray grow out without too much color difference. I think she was in her mid 60s.

I stopped at 52 - now 54 and while the sides are turning it is still dark underneath.

As I was getting my hair done for thanksgiving I decided that I could better use that $200 for other things - that I would really enjoy ( I hated the time and $$ I spent on getting it colored) My hairdresser was not happy about my decision but I am thrilled.

I did just let it grow out - and I am the first one to admit my hair is better for it. It looks and feels so much better and fuller. It is grey, not white which I think makes many women look older. I don't understand why you couldn't just let it grow out - does anyone think that everyone else can't tell you color your hair. You and get a semi permanaent color put on - it will wash out. But that way you can wait until it is at a length you can cut it to - or not..

Have not quit yet and probably won't even consider it until I'm out of the workforce. Plus DH does not care for me in "barnwood" gray as he referred to it when I was only getting highlights along with the increasing gray. I pay a small fortune to have it professionally done on a regular basis but it's one of the few things I splurge on for me and have to say one that I really enjoy. I love the look and feel of my hair after I've been at the salon.

I had an aunt who had beautiful "snow white" hair as my mother used to say. It was pretty but unfortunately she is the only one in the family who ended up like that so I don't think my chances are very good.

My mom quit coloring her hair when she became a grandmother at 70. Lately, I have been thinking about maybe to stop coloring my hair in a couple of years when I am 70. I could use the money for something else. I have been getting highlights for 15 or 16 years now. I get them every 3 months and it is a big expense.

I quit coloring my hair in my 40s. I had had an allergic reaction to a perm. The next appointment I was going to get the frosting touched up, but I did not want to chance more problems. So I had all the old frosting cut off, had a very short bob for a while, and never looked back. I was surprised that when the hairdresser blew my hair dry that I had as much natural frosting as I had been paying to have done, but it was white frosting instead of blond. Worked great with my brown hair, and people asked me who did my color. Now I have snow white hair.

I'm 49 and quit coloring 2 years ago. I am 85% gray/silver on top with black at the nape of my neck. Most people think I have my hair professionally colored. I just got tired of coloring it and said that's it no more. I am fortunate though and do have the olive complexion. It used to be naturally curly as well but the silver just doesn't curl. I also cut my own hair with a pair of clippers, love it very short.
