Because I've already been shopping!!

This girl thing is dangerous! LOL

I had to have a follow up ultrasound today go get a 2nd look at her kidneys so I had the tech (a different person than I saw last week) check the gender, just in case!!

It looks like we've settled on her name being Cameryn Paige. Alot of people are asking if I plan to use Cami as a nickname. She wont be called that until she's old enough to choose it for herself.

I'm 19 weeks now and already as big as I was when I was about 25 weeks with Grant. Definitely much bigger this time around. She's moving around quite a bit, which I love. Thats the only thing about being pregnant that I missed after I had Grant.

LOL I remembering thinking my stomach got awfully boring after I had my first baby. I missed all that activity, too.

Yeah, I loved feeling the baby moving when I was pregnant. And I always made my husband feel my belly. I also remember, especially with my first, wondering what the baby would look like. Enjoy being pregnant, it will be over soon. And I love the name Cameryn Paige. Can Grant say the name yet?

Ms Butterfly, it appears there is a slight possiblity that you are looking to spur attention and sales for said book. That is OK around here. Self promotion is a necessary component of authorship when no one else is doing the job. But traffic is not heavy here at the Garden Writer's forum. You must first get them going. Say something sure to get the juices flowing. Example... "That Henry Mitchell may have known his plants but what a dufuss when it comes to the other inhabitants of his outdoor space." OR... "Fall gardening is a waste of time. Put the garden to sleep and get a life!" Try again. I will be watching maybe even check out your book, if you can stir things up here you may be a writer.

Before my (late) DH and I embarked on a large renovation/addition, we did the math to compare what the addition would approximately cost (x), then added that cost to the approx. value of our home (y), and priced out homes in our area for sale at approx. x+y. For us it was worth doing the addition rather than buying a different house, even though ours ended up over $200/sqf, probably closer to $300/sqf. For comparison homes in this area are about $1.5+M for new builds; homes for teardown between $400=600k in very rough approximations. Some things to factor in: the cost of a rental when you move out during construction, including the cost of switching utilities to the rental then back (it's not so much the cost as it is the hassle. For example, keeping my same email address with Comcast required almost an act of divine intervention, not to mention about 20 phone calls.) Also count on scope creep. We were victims of our own enthusiasm and I can't tell you how many times we said, "While we're at it, we might as well do...." That's how we ended up going from the kids wanting a dog and me saying "no dog until I get a mudroom", to a 1000+ sqf addition with gutted kitchen and 4 gutted bathrooms, plus a new garage and a new roof. World's most expensive dog. (But Hendrix is worth it. :) ) Finally, there are compromises you will make that no one has to make with a new build from scratch, and there will be surprises. (Like when they cut an opening for my new office window and found a vent pipe no one knew was there. Or when they broke the sewer line while digging the new foundation.) I guess this is a long way of advising you to have a good contingency budget. For us it was totally worth it and I'm so glad we did the addition. And you have something in your favor I didn't know about at the time... this forum! I often wonder whether my layout and kitchen would be different if I knew about this forum and the kitchens forum when we did our work.

LOL at you all! "Architecture is taught by the "critical method" meaning building designs are presented to a jury of professionals who criticize them without mercy..." This explains SO MUCH of the advice professional architects offer on this forum! I have a legal degree, so I totally understand how a few years of professional school can train your brain into a certain communication style. (I'm now an at-home mom and my 4-year-old mimics me "Objection! Asked and answered!") Anyway...my delicate ego didn't enjoy the critique on this group BUT I truly appreciate the direction we went. I now have a house plan I'm psyched about, and the architect and I are now coffee buddies -- our kids happen to be similar ages and our new build happens to be in her neighborhood! Now that so many of the gardenweb's brilliant minds are involved in this thread I'm especially excited to see the OP's draft!

First off, my condolences and I agree if you are not planning on selling now, give yourself the time to grieve and push this to the back burner. And if you are staying in the home, definitely keep what works for you. I'm a realtor, in Pittsburgh suburbs so your market may differ. I would talk to your contractor and obtain a bid for closing off the door. I have no idea what tiling or finishes this may impact, but this sounds like a small job. If and when you decide to sell, have the agent share the estimate with potential buyers if they push back on this. Sometimes buyers are scared off because they think something will cost a lot of money and really have no idea. I recently used this strategy for a listing that lacked a first floor powder room. Estimate was about $7000 and sharing this helped.

I'm glad you got a second opinion...I've known about a few surprises.

I, too, was bigger the second time around. My OB said it was kinda like blowing up a balloon the second time.

Awwwwww I'd love to be shopping with you Steph! I remember when Maddie was born EVERYTHING (and I DO mean EVERYTHING) looked so dog gone sweet. I oooohhh'd and ahhhhh'd over something, turned around and spied something else and did it all over again!!!

What a relief huh?? You'd have a hard time prying those girlie things out of my hands once I bought them!! I love her name. I remember missing the feeling of the baby rolling and kicking. Such a good feeling. :O)

I love the name Cameron Paige-very pretty! And yes, take it from me, the girl section is about triple what the boys are! And EVERYTHING is so dang cute! I can't resist!!

I understand about the baby girl things. I was a little dissapointed when we found out Hayden and Hudson were going to be boys, I missed all the cute girly things. But after Hayden came I found so many little manly things and lots of cute clothes anyways. It must be that time for baby shopping. I had a gift certificate for my birthday for a hundred dollars. I got Rhiannon some school clothes, a couple things for Peyton and 3 new outfits for the baby to come, I got a total of 27 cents back lol.

After having 2 boys, you can imagine how crazy I went when #3 was a girl! I'd sneak into the house with new girl clothes all the time! Now she's 13 and loves to shop. LOL

There are SO many cute outfits for girls! Seems like at least once a week a big box of girly stuff is being delivered to my niece... :-)

But -- you said they needed to get a second look at her kidneys. Is everything ok?

Thanks for asking Lindsey.

Everything is fine. For some reason at my last ultrasound they couldn't get the proper look at the kidneys so I had to go back. They are pretty particular about the level of detail they see when they read the reports and the radiologist wasn't happy with how the kidneys looked (not because something was wrong, just because the images weren't clear and/or detailed enough). They got what they needed yesterday and my doctor already contacted me to tell me everything looks great.

Girls are SOOO much fun to buy clothes for. My DD always had (and still does at 15) so many clothes. lol I love the name you picked. Glad everything is progressing along well. When exactly is your due date?

Angela, I'm due January 27th. I'm having a scheduled c-section but wont know the date until late Nov/early Dec. It should be somewhere within a few days of my due date; it just depends on when my doctor has availability.

That child will be dressed to the nines (what ever that means :)). She's gonna be so lucky to have a grandma who loves to sew and a Mom who loves to shop. :) Good choice on the name too Steph. I'm betting when she gets older her friends, maybe family too might call her Cam.

Ohhhhhhhhhhh! Sweet!
I was ooooooooohing and ahhhhhhing and then I got to those little purple shoes and I just busted out grinning! I can't wait to see Cameryn model them for us! She is going to be the little doll baby fer sure!

Thank you Steph for indulging me! Hopefully someday I will have another little grand daughter so I can buy more lil pink things!
