Stormy has gone to the Rainbow Bridge

I've been meaning to post an update to my previous post about Stormy's sickness, but was so busy going to & from the vet & then taking care of her that I just haven't had time. Her ultrasound showed no problems. She stayed at the vet's office until Wed. receiving IV fluids her kidney values improved some, though not a lot. She was eating well while there. They sent her home on Wed. with a phosphorus blocker & instructions for giving her subcutaneous fluids. The vet said the subcutaneous might not be enough, but if they worked she might have another 6-12 months. Stormy began to decline again on Fri. & by this morning she was really sick. She hadn't eaten anything in two days. So we made the heart-wrenching decision to take her to be euthanized. She was an absolute sweetheart and we've cried a lot today & I know will cry many more tears in coming days. Rest in peace, Stormy. Mommy & Daddy have enjoyed every moment with you since you came to our home in Dec. 2000.

I am so sorry for the loss. I know Just how you are feeling., as my 25 year old Tabby crossed over on tue. Although they will be missed we know they are at peace now. mary

My condolences on TC. Sounds like he had a nice life there and was able to end it without long suffering as so many do which I hope is a comfort to you but of course doesn't make it any less sad. Seems like a lot of critters are living longer lives these days too. 15-20 years isn't that unusual anymore. He had his meal, took a short nap and then it was his time. If you gotta go, seems like a nice way. I'm sure you have a lot of great memories about him to enjoy and comfort you in your loss. Share a story or two and a picture or two when you feel up to it. I have used this poem when dealing with the death of animals - especially with the children. My DH was also somehow better after I printed this out with the picture of his Belle in the corner... Think of the pups who lived and died in hideous puppy mills. No one on earth loved or protected them. What about the many who spent unhappy lives tied in backyards? And, the ones who were abused, Who are they to wait for? We don't talk about that much up here. We share our loved ones as they arrive, happy to do so. But we all know there is nothing like having your very own person who thinks you are the most special pup in the Heavens. Last Tuesday morning a request rang out for pups not waiting for specific persons to volunteer for special assignment.. An eager, curious crowd surged excitedly forward, each pup wondering what the assignment would be. They were told by a solemn voice that unexpectedly, all at once, over 4,000 loving people had left Earth long before they were ready. All the pups, as all pups do, felt the humans' pain deep in their own hearts. Without hearing more, there was a clamoring among them - "May I have one to comfort?" "I'll take two, I have a big heart." "I have been saving kisses forever." One after another they came forward begging for assignment. One cozy-looking fluffy pup hesitantly asked, "Are there any children coming? I would be very comforting for a child 'cause I'm soft and squishy and I always wanted to be hugged." A group of Dalmatians came forward asking to meet the Firemen and be their friends. The larger working breeds offered to greet the Police Officers and make them feel at home. ! Little dogs volunteered to do what they do best, cuddle and kiss. Dogs who on Earth had never had a kind word or a pat on the head, stepped forward and said, "I will love any human who needs love." Then all the dogs, wherever on Earth they originally came from, rushed to the Rainbow Bridge and stood waiting, overflowing with love to share - each tail wagging an American Flag.

Vicsgirl, there is no shortage of cats in our home. We are crazy for cats. Twice a day, we feed half a dozen ferals (sometimes more, sometimes less) that roam our neighborhood. Over the years, we have made friends with many of them. We have invited some into our home and some have literally invited themselves into our home, LOL. We've never followed the recommendations to introduce a new one gradually, but it has never taken the rest of the gang very long to figure out how to get along with a newcomer. Now that George is gone, We are left with 5 indoor cats - Buster, Bruno, Mouse, Alfie, and Rina. But there will never be another George. Like us, each cat is one of a kind.

She was adorable. I hope you have lots of wonderful photos of her. If so, make an album. That's what I did when we lost our kitty. I'm so sorry. Go ahead and cry. You'll miss her so much.

So sorry for your loss. We just put our 21+ year old cat to sleep a week ago... she was the same grey color with the golden eyes like your Stormy. I know it hurts, but you did everything you could... she is at peace now.

RIP Stormy...I have gone through almost the same thing with my kitty, I think you did what was best. We always miss them, but they do give us lots of joy while they are here, and we don't want them to be in pain. Blessings to you.

My condolences to all of you, Kittiemom, The mommy1, and Lydia. I'd so hoped little Stormy would be able to recover. I'm so sorry for the losses all of you have had.

So sorry to hear about Stormy...She was a gorgeous furbaby....I know what you're going through, we had to let our Kaylee go on the 13th....It's really, really a hard decision but one made in love.....Take care, remember all those good times.....

Kittiemom, I'm so sorry to hear about Stormy.
And you Lydia as well. I had no idea about your kitty.

It kills us every time we have to do this (and I've done it a few). We have to remember that it's the best thing for our pet, even if not the best for us. They had a great life, and believe it or not, there's room in your heart for another fur-pet when the time is right.

I can't imagine not having a cat, and I can't see myself without one.

(((((HUGS))))) It's hard but Stormy is now playing with lots of new friends and smiling down at you. I'm sure he is romping around with my Benjamin, EKO and Dusty.

You have wonderful memories to cherish.
