What's for dinner 9/20

Can you believe September is 2/3 over? Man, I sure wish it would start feeling like Fall around here. I didn't get much accomplished today (like nothing, actually). We both got haircuts and that was over 2 hours with travel time. So tonight is leftover soup, hard rolls and fudge cake again. I ate too much soup last night to want dessert, so I'm using a smaller bowl tonight.

What are y'all having?

Still too warm here for soup.
We had turkey salad from leftover turkey - made with celery and craisins with a honey mustard sauce. Steamed corn on the cob and green beans.

My sister is visiting and yesterday she cooked a small turkey. Today I made 2 turkey pies. Yummy!

Hubby is playing tonite at the bar, and he likes to eat light on nights he plays. I made grilled chicken fajitas with lots of fried onions and peppers and usual toppings. With a squeeze of fresh Lime Juice! Delicious!!

Had a very special cookout at the home of our friends who used to live in Beaufort, SC (we were friends of mine there, too) and some mutual friends who still live there and are visiting for a few days. They brought several pounds of fresh shrimp and live blue crabs. Oh my. A big pot of Frogmore Stew (aka Lowcountry shrimp boil) was cooked up (shrimp, fresh sweet corn pieces, chunks of smoked sausage, Old Bay) and another of the crabs. I still have my outdoor propane stand and huge stainless pot from my lowcountry days and it was well employeed. We also had a big crunchy salad, angel biscuits and rolls, slaw, sliced tomatoes, peach kuchen, ice cream, ginger cookies, watermelon. Everybody will be here for supper. I'll be cooking a few things today and the chicken is marinating.

patti43-What is brown sugar meat loaf? DS was saying tonight that meatloaf sounded good.Every one's menu sounds delish! Peach pie and bread pudding.MMMMM We had some hamburger patties left from a couple of days ago.DS was going to cook them on the grill but we didn't have any buns OR bread so I smashed them up to make them a little smaller and thicker and fried them in a skillet on the stove.Opened a couple of cans of green beans.All I had was one can of French style and one can of cut so I just mixed them.Then I seasoned them with salt,pepper and garlic powder.Took the lid off the garlic powder to sprinkle some in and dumped about a tablespoon into the beans! I had bought a different brand than what I usually use and this one had the flip top instead of the screw on one covering the little holes.I rinsed them off as best I could but they were still pretty garlicky.Didn't have any potatoes or rice but had a package of fettuccine noodles and a jar of Alfredo sauce so I made that as a side dish.It was pretty good and nobody complained.You can probably tell tomorrow is grocery shopping day!LOL

My DD and I had a shopping day and stopped at Ruby Tuesdays for dinner....What a disappointment! It had been some time since I had eaten there and now I know why I haven't been back...Nothing on the menu looked that good so I went with the salad bar...Getting my salad, I was behind another couple and they kept saying the dishes are dirty...Sure enough, every dish they picked up, was dirty, warm and still wet as though it had just come our of the dish washer....After the couple complained, they brought out more dishes and it was the same...They finally asked to see the manager and he came out with sparkling clean dishes...He also tried to explain how this could happen...Not my idea of a fun dinner!

Beautiful Filet Mignons, broccoli and perhaps asparagus. DH is cooking because today is my birthday!

I cooked a potato in the microwave, had green beans, and reuben meatloaf.

DH got out of class early and is picking up Pei Wei-honey seared chicken, spring rolls and shrimp fried rice for us! leftover blueberry citrus birthday cake too! i better go workout right now LOL ;-))) ~ liz

I cooked some quinoa, sliced some Grillwurst sausage into slices and browned them. Sauteed diced onion and carrots with seasonings and mixed it all together. We just discovered quinoa a few months ago and love it, especially served like this.

Hubby is right now munching on a too-well-done peanut butter cookie from last nite. I have to make a new batch and try not to burn them.

Since I had a large lunch I didn't eat anything this evening. My lunch was great northern soup beans, cornbread, hot dogs, butter pecan cake and a scoop of Blue Bell's Caramel Kettle Crunch ice cream and iced tea! I did get a bit of housework done today but not as much as I had hoped. It will be there tomorrow for me.

Mmm OH Marilyn Butter Pecan cake???? Ohhhhhh I wish you hadn't said that! I will be drooling all night over it! LOL

We have fall here! Believe me its fall! There was frost on the roof Saturday morning and cool and still cool today altho warmer with a high of 50 and wind and rain this afternoon.

I made the beef barley/vegetable soup for lunch today with the left over beef roast.And turkey breast sandwiches. Oh gosh WHY does making soup mean using the largest kettle you have and filling it full to the brim?? LOL I have a bowl in the refrigerator, a bowl in the freezer and gave a bowl to my DSis. LOL

We had taco's and chocolate pudding for supper. That is enough cooking for today.

I have waffle fries in the fryer. I cooked sausages and dogs on the stove oh and appetizers were mozz sticks...

We are having "bad" food night.. LOL

That's what you get when mommy isn't feeling even 60%..The boys are thrilled!!

I may make some cornstarch pudding if I get a burst of energy. Or maybe just have a bowl of chocolate cereal..

Oh Terri, don't cook any more tonite. Have a bowl of cereal, and put your feet up. You have to get better, you poor thing.

I did pork chops in the crockpot with tomatos and garlic-Yum! Served with mashed potatoes, asparagus and salad. I'm stuffed!

Made enough for tomorrow night too as it's usually my gym night, but not sure with DD's soccer practice, maybe I'll go in the morning instead.

Always a day late :-)

We were invited to my oldest stepdaughter's house for steak cooked on the grill. Served with oven potatoes, broccoli, and fresh green beans. It was delicious! They said they marinated the steak with Lawry's Hawaiian marinade. I'm going to look for some of that in the grocery store. I think it would be great on chicken as well.

One of my favorites! Soup, Salad and Cheesy Garlic Knots. (homemade minestrone and garlic knots) No dessert but a little peppermint patty and espresso afters.
