Is anyone familiar with

Qualicraft Nylotex. I was gifted a lot of yarn to-day, to make things for charities. A large quantity of this was included. I have never seen it before. It is like a nylon material with all the edges turned under and the end result is about 3/8 inch wide. It says "Knit or weave: Handbags, slippers, Draperies, Placemats, Bedspreads, Plant hangers, Lawn chairs, Lamp shades." The edges are all turned in and it is about 3/8 " after that. There is a great deal of it.

Any suggestions?

I am thinking its the stuff to make covered hangers with? If so it is very hard to find. We have some covered hangers with this plasticy stuff that wears like iron!!! MUCH better than yarn covered or crocheted hangers.

doesn't sound good for scarves, hats, blankies....
what about crocheting bags... grocery bags, laundry
bags...?

I've seen a lot of comments on Spring Hill and other mail order nurseries, and I do pay attention to them. But you have to consider the price/service ratio. I've generally done very well with them. I recently had 2 problems, one was that the US Post Office smashed a shipping box. Spring Hill replaced all the damaged plants promptly and without any headaches. THe other was that a package of 3 Toad Lily bulbs arrived as mush. I called, and they said they'd replace them, but I haven't seen them as yet. Of course, it's January, so I haven't called to remind them either. I agree their individual plant prices are nothing special, but their gardens are a good value. Their plants are small, but they've always grown to my satisfaction. I've used them a lot, I like them, and I'll continue to use them. In fact, I just ordered more from them.

Is anyone familiar with or used a Guardsman furniture protection plan?

I wish I could give them 0 stars. This "company" is a pure scam. Like many others have experienced, we purchased Guardsman warranty just for them to deny a claim. Whey would I buy a warranty if my item isn't covered by such warranty? Why would vendors re-sell this scam? I am filing a complaint with Attorney General and Consumer Protection Agency. These scammers are defrauding customers of their hard earned money. Their business is built on collecting $ and denying claims. I'm so happy that Overstock / BedBathBeyond finally stopped selling this scam as of a month ago. I really hope there's a class action lawsuit against these scammers, and that AG will actually do something about this. They're running this scam right in his state, hope they're shut down with a hefty fine.

🙋‍♀️ Opera, ballet, and Broadway shows are typically at the Blumenthal which is pretty much in the center of downtown (which is actually called uptown by the chamber but I think it sounds stupid, lol.) The closest hotel to the Blumenthal is Ivey’s which used to be the Ivey’s department store-qualifies it for historic here.🤣 It’s really pretty. There is a lovely Ritz that is also super close. A smaller boutique hotel, The Dunhill, is one I like…a bit farther, but pretty much anything inside the belt is walkable to the Blumenthal. There’s an Omni near the Convention Center and Spectrum Center that is nice. The Marriott is fine. The Westin is very nice, but farther out. I have never felt unsafe walking in the city at night…there are always tons of people out, and the CPD is very present. It is very rare for there to be incidents in downtown (those happen outside the beltway.) It’s a really nice city, with lots of trendy restaurants and bars. And lots of trees downtown…very pretty. 😊

Anyone familiar with "Rubinette" apple? Having problems...

I am unfamiliar with it personally but several sources had comments similar to this: " Rubinette is unfortunately not easy to grow. Like Cox it is prone to the apple disease scab. Mild attacks do not affect the flavour but make the apples rather unsightly and this limits its commercial appeal. The trees are quite weak and slow growing which does not help (vigorous varieties can sometimes throw off disease and pest attacks more readily). The apples also tend to be very small, although the size can improve as the tree gets older - and as noted below, ruthless thinning in late spring will increase the size of the remaining fruits. These horticultural difficulties mean that Rubinette is not widely grown - it is grown commercially on a small scale in Europe and a few North American growers have also taken it up. As a result, it is difficult (but not impossible) to find Rubinette apples on sale."

Yes, nodakgal, that is exactly what it is. This must be old, old, but it looks like new. It is marked $1.69 and that would be Canadian, likely.

I never thought of braiding it. That is a good suggestion. Maybe a mat or something similar.

No, there is no way that I can see it being used as scarves.
I tried crocheting a little bit but don't think that is an answer. I like the braiding idea.

looks like it would be good for those crocheted grocery bags, green bags. i am making those for christmas gifts this yr using a pattern at lionbrand.com also bath matts, pot holders, kitchen towels, trivets...what about maqcreme (sp?) ~ liz

Tonight I found some good directions for Braided covered coathangers on the Crafty Gardener blogspot (craftygardener.blogspot.com/2008/11/braided-covered-coathangers) I still have several hangers (they have been used a ton over the years) that I made with my grandmother over 35 years ago and I want to do this craft again.
