What's for dinner 9/5/10

It's been a rainy afternoon here, but it kept the heat down. I have beef ribs in the oven. I always cook pork ribs so this is a new experience. We'll have roasted potatoes and steamed broccoli with it. And lemon cake I made yesterday. Hope your weather is nicer. What are you having?

DH and I went to our son's house to help him with some work today, so I put beef and vegetable soup in the crock pot before we left this morning. We came home and gobbled it up. To be honest, I told DH it was stew (that was too thin), because he has it in his mind that he doesn't like soup. This way everyone is happy.

It is an absolutely gorgeous day here. Plenty of sunshine and temps in the high 80's. Mike is at the grocery store to see about getting some steaks. So if he is successful we will be having steak, potatoes and onions roasted in foil and stir fried zucchini/yellow squash/onions/eggplant/bell peppers. Then there is strawberry shortcake for dessert.

OK, so the jpg identifies the drawing as #2, but that doesn't show on FB. The image that shows 1 sink with the comment "trough sink and 2 fixtures", is the leading contender. Not the red line drawing with 2 sinks. D'oh!

Potluck luncheon, today. 15 of us gals Lots of various salads, chicken fingers, smoked ham, one dessert was keylime pie. I took my Alaskan coleslaw and none to bring home :o)

I love meatloaf, mainly for a leftover meatloaf sandwich. I made one last week when my DS and BIL came and there was hardly any left, which is a good thing and a bad thing :-) Glenda, you have a whole lot more will power than I do. I love the crust AND the topping! I love limas too, Schoolhouse. Just plain old cooked, drained and buttered. Roco, planting with you GD sounds more fun than cooking. Bet you had a great time. What did you plant? Sue, got any chocolate-covered strawberries left? You have a lot of will power too--no bun!

Everything sounds so good! Firemanswife-Will your girls eat cottage cheese? I wish the twins would but they aren't much interested in it.They do like yogurt though.I make them smoothies with MOT'S For TOTS mixed fruit juice and Vanilla yogurt every day.I also bought some vanilla flavored Carnation instant breakfast to add to their milk and they like that.They don't eat much fruit and I wish they did.They did when they were eating the baby food stuff but not so much fresh or canned fruit.Sometimes I mix some baby food fruit with the smoothie and they like that.For a long time they wouldn't even eat bananas but Rowdy has discovered he loves "nananas"! He will eat at least two at a time.Jilly maybe 3 or 4 bites.Have you seen the baby bananas? I bought some out of curiosity.Taste like bananas only smaller.LOL Rowdy can eat 4 of those at a sitting so probably not too economical for us.LOL I think I'll buy some cottage cheese and see if their taste buds have changed.I love cottage cheese and pineapple. Sorry folks,didn't mean to hijack the thread. I didn't have anything thawed for supper so I threw together a casserole with some leftover taco meat,a can of ranch style beans,tortilla chips and cheese.It was pretty good!

Still nice and cool here, as it's been the whole weekend. Temps in the 60's.

Have the meat loaf recipe I posted in the daily thread yesterday in the oven. Mashed potatoes, broccoli to go with it. And my carrot cake for dessert.

Cleaning on Labor Day Weekend! LOL!

I made a veggie soup at lunch that I will add stuff to for dinner. I'm pooped.

I went for a nature walk first thing this morning and stopped at a grocery store for my dinner. I bought a rotisserie chicken, still hot from the oven. I warmed a can of Ranch Style beans and had cottage cheese and peaches.

It's 67 degrees and the sun is out. DD and the boys are here but gone right now, oh its quiet! LOL
Meatballs in gravy and mashed potatoes, corn on the cob and green beans.There is macaroni salad left from last night (why do you always make a HUGE bowl?) I think I have a loaf of each the white and wheat bread (petite loaves) I am debating mixing up some flavored butter for that yet.
Still a half pan of Apple Pie Bars for dessert, with or without ice cream.

Ate BAD for lunch: Schlotzkeys Haven't been there in at least 5 years.

I'm gonna fast rest of day, as I will have friend and her DH Labor Day for my version of country lo boil and making for dessert MOLDEN LAVA CAKE.

Made my first beer can chicken on the grill. Turned out great. Very easy. Also made veggies on the grill. This turned out good too.

I had a big meal at noon after church. It was our church's first Sunday of the month meal and there was so much food. On my plate there was a really good meat loaf, barbecued pork ribs, fried zucchini or cucumbers with a cheese coating, (couldn't tell what it was, but was good), green beans with potatoes, corn casserole, broccoli casserole,stuffing, coleslaw and a deviled egg. My dessert was a nice slice of sugar cream pie. I topped that meal off with 3 glasses of unsweetened iced tea. There was so much more I could have chosen but I was so full from all I did get that there will be no supper for me tonight. My bean salad I took was a hit and I have to take the recipe back to one lady. No raspberry pie or peach pie to bring home either.

We eat dinner really late in the evening, so for now I have nothing planned, sad isn't it ! LOL I am by myself today so I will probably have a bisson burger patty, some peas, and a salad.

Nothing.

This afternoon, we drove over to the Daniel Boone homestead, one of those historical places that is no close, you never seem to get to.
Beautiful place, many historical objects, and pictures.

Not too many people know that Daniel Boone was born in Pennsylvania.

Stopped at a little tavern out there in the country and had a delicious early supper - baked ham.

SOS was our supper. (Creamed chipped beef on toast....yummm)
