Do you take naps?

I do on occasion if I have evening plans to be out late. I try to take a few hours in the afternoon.

Well....I don't plan them, but if I sit down in my recliner for more than a few minutes, I fall asleep. I don't like naps because they always leave me with a head-ache and I don't feel refreshed, but I only sleep a few hours at night, I am getting old, I work really hard most all day and into the evening, so when I stop, I nap ! LOL

No.....but I used to. I used to hike uphill 7 miles, meet my GF's then run down hill 7 miles, come home, take a nap. Then shower and go to work. Back then I ran with 2 nurses that were training for a marathon. One was sponsored. :0) Waaaaaaaaaay over my head....

I'm no bee expert, but I've seen that enough times to think it must be normal. I used to have what I suspect was the same bumblebee that always took a nap on my hand railing by my door every afternoon. It would leave after a few minutes, but often napped in the same place (the only reason I have for thinking it was the same one). I've seen them nap in zucchini flowers too, then leave after awhile. Last year I saw 20 or so bumblebees napping almost all at once on my dwarf orange tree...that I'm less inclined to believe is normal. A few were flying from flower to flower (it was in full bloom), but most were asleep in flowers...that and one other time I spilled orange icing and it put the ants to sleep makes me think orange flavored /scented stuff will make them nap unnaturally.

I envy people who can nap! Every once in a while I feel like I could really use a nap, but if I try, I just can't. In general, though, the time of day when I most need a nap is just when things are getting busy here in the afternoon when kids are coming home from school. My best downtime is 3 afternoons a week after I drop off DD at gymnastics and I still have 1-2 hours before I have to make dinner (and my older kids are here but don't need me -- they're 17 and 20). Sometimes, I have to run errands or do things around the house, but when I don't, I force myself to just sit and either read or watch TV -- which seems so decadent! At those times, occasionally I will drift off for a little while.

Sue used to say that I could sleep ... any time ... and any place. Some years ago, after taking the stockbroker's course, I was working in a hotel in Alberta, night shift in the bar, and for several months drove 50 mi. to Edmonton to get involved in an investment system, during weekdays. One Saturday morning, when I was sitting on a stool at the counter in the restaurant, reading the paper ... ... I fell asleep and fell on to the floor! It took me a long time to live that one down! I can doze off at the computer ,,, but seldom get the program cancelled, after getting the shout, "Hey! Anyone still there? Looks as though things have gone to sleep! Click right away, or we .....". Sue used to say that I could sleep any time and any place. When I worked in the bar of a hotel in Alberta 30 years ago, room and restaurant included, I'd be sitting at the stool at the counter in the restaurant, reading the Edmonton paper ... ... and fell off of the stool! It took me a while to forget that one! And I'd fish the leftover crusts out of the ice cream bucket, where they collected to feed the dog, and put them under the grill. The staff used to tell me to use the fresh mid-loaf slices, and I said that when we were kids we used to fight over the crusts - they weren't garbage to us, by any means. And they said that I should put them into the toaster. I said that the grill was going anyway, and it'd take extra power to heat the toaster so it seemed to me wise to use the grill, even though I needed to turn the bread over. What did I care - it wasn't me who paid the power bill. I said that wasting it wasn't a good idea, whether it was my wallet or someone else's. One day, the owner brought me a slice, burned black to a crisp, in a soup bowl ... that I'd placed ... and forgotten. It took me a while to live that one down, as well! I often have a rather short night, as I tend to stay up late. Now ... sometimes I find my nose hitting the kitchen table ... or the computer desk (often, late at night). Have fallen off of the chair, on ocasion. I used to have a recliner, but no longer. I can take a nap on top of the bed, which sometimes stretches to a couple of hours. When I was a youth, about 2 in the afternoon, we'd get sleepy when working the tractor, and going to sleep could cause some problems, so we'd climb off, lie down on the ground for 10 min. or so, and be good to go again. ole joyfuelled

Oh yes.... I love naps. I also take one if I plan on being out later. I don't like to nap too late in the day either. I would say I nap about 2-3 times a week. Almost always on Sunday.

I am like lavon, I don't plan them they just happen when I relax in my recliner. It's not a good sleep, more like rem and I wake cold and often with a stiff neck or slight headache. The funny thing about naps, if I get sleepy I can go lay on the bed and bingo, I'm wide awake.

My body doesn't 'do' naps unless I'm sick. I may *try* to nap, but the best I can usually do is lie quietly and rest, not sleep.

I take a nap (less than an hour) almost every day. The problem is that everyone knows the approximate time for my nap, and someone will almost certainly call during that time every day.

I always feel worse after a nap unless I am sick. Once I am asleep I need a full 8+ hours. So no naps for me.

I'm taking a short one now--20 mins or so--then I will get up and make tacos for dinner.

Sometimes I do ... on purpose, but really it is rather rare. But there are days when I can barely sit down in front of the tv or pick up a book without a nap & I find that aggravating.

Yep, take one every day for about 2 hours. I couldn't function without one. It doesn't keep me from sleeping at night either...

Once in awhile on a weekend, but not usually. I would love to be able to nap for 20 minutes, but for me, it's a couple hours or nothing.

Not usually, but then I get up late in the morning, sometimes 10AM, so I'm not really tired during what's left of the day....

The only time I nap is when I am sick.....if I fall asleep during the day it is usually because I am coming down with something.
If I do take a nap, I have to get undressed, into pj's and crawl under the covers.....and sleep for at least 90 minutes.
My mom used to take quick 20 minute naps....and be good to go.
I don't fall asleep sitting in the recliner or reading during the day but have to have a book to read at bedtime to fall asleep.

I just woke up from my third nap today! I feel like I'm coming down with something. It's not unusual for me to nap on Saturday after working all week, but I don't usually need a nap on Sunday. Many times I only sleep for about 20 minutes. Tonight I napped for 90 minutes, and I'm still tired.

No. I only nap if I am really, really sick. Nights to me are for sleeping, daytime is for accomplishing things. I would feel like I was wasting my life away, sleeping. It's going fast enough as is.

I used to do it more than I do now. Actually I think since I started exercising regularly quite a few years ago I quit napping. Occasionally if I've gotten very little sleep at night I just can't function when I get home from work and I'll nap for 20 minutes so I can make it until regular bedtime.

I don't plan on a mid-day nap, but when one happens in the afternoon, I'll be up all night and then my sleep cycle gets fouled. The problem is the length of the nap. If its a 30 minute power rest, it is fine, but longer than that can upset my body's natural rythim.

When I was a child older women in the family regularly took naps and insisted that I take one also. I could never sleep, just wished they would hurry and get up so I could get up and go play. I still cannot sleep during the day unless having a migraine.

Like lindaohnow I think days are for accomplishing things.
