If you unfriend someone will they know it? How do they find out if you do?

I think you are just deleted from their friend list. I don't think they are notified.

They'll know when they can't see your news feed anymore.

Actually when I started this I wasn't thinking of my current body. Worse than narrow shoulders is my skin. I was a perpetual sunbather all my life starting at age 16 for the prom. We even skipped classes in college to sunbath behind the dorms. As a result wrinkles and thin skin on my calves. From my knees to my ankles , there are scars from contact with brush, dogs, just bumping into stuff. I could cut myself with my fingernail and make it bleed . For you older women, at what age did you notice men not looking at you any more? I think when you reach a certain age, you become invisible. It's inevitable.

It usually shows up at the top left corner... not on your "page". It shows a 1 or 2 or 3 or however many replies you got. You click on that and takes you to your messages and you see who replied.

I agree with the others —no holds. And I push for a same-day meeting. Someone asks if I’ll take $XX for the item, and I’ll say I will if you can pick it up today. I have recently started accepting Venmo — if someone really wants the thing, they’ll pay via Venmo, then I’ll be looser on pickup time. As for flaky people, if there is no response or a no-show, I simply message them that I’m moving to the next offer, which I promptly do. I keep my prices a bit low to encourage lots of interest and quick sales. I’ll typically post on a day I know I can be available to meet/be available for pick-up. Being able to inform potential buyers there is a lot of interest tends to create a sense of urgency. Susie might prefer to wait until next Thursday to pick it up, but I’ll guarantee she’ll miraculously find a truck within an hour if she needs to.

They do not get an alert or anything....Just if they go to look for you and viola, your no longer on their list! As well they may know they have 100 friends, and now only 99,lol I purge mine from time to time!

Sometimes you get a request to change or keep your status as a friend. My cousin posted a "I'm cleaning out my friend list" and to please inform her if you want to stay or not on the list.
I only have FB because of my two daughters. My friends are actually some of theirs. (Really just a joke.) I do not have any of my friends as friends.

If you are "unfriending" someone, why would you care if they know?

But no, unless they go looking for you, they aren't going to know about it.

ellendi - that's a viral "don't unfriend me" thing that's been going around for a couple of years. That's nothing to do with keeping a friend on FB...

And, depending on your settings, if you unfriend someone they may never see any difference unless they look through their friends list. If your settings are too lax, anyone (friend or not, FB member or not) can see everything you post.

I've often heard you should NOT respond to any of the sayings,
cartoons, questions or other mass-generated things on Facebook. I never respond to anything like that. I do reply to posts and LIKE things someone has posted, but none of the other stuff. I also never LIKE a business or anything that has an icon saying LIKE US ON FACEBOOK. You lose a lot of your privacy by doing that. Not saying that you don't lose SOME anyway...

well, I want to unfriend some people because I don't want to see some of the things & pics they are posting. I still like them and don't want to offend them.

You can hide that stuff!! On the top right of that box, there is a smal arrow, click on that and a window pops down! Click on HIDE. And it hides that post--then you will see:
Change what updates you get from....... click on that and select the options u only waht to see!! I usually selct ONLY IMPORTANT. Really cuts down on stuff from that person...
