Try this: right-click My Computer and choose Manage. From the window which appears, click Disk Management. The right side of the window will now list the available drives on your computer. You'll see Disk0 Basic (which should be your main hard drive). If you have a zip drive installed, it's probably Disk1. Your flash drive will be listed below your hard drive and zip drive. Look for Removable and the size of your flash drive. It should say something like 256MB or 512MB. It may also describe your flash drive (model, manufacturer) to the right. Once you've found it in the list, right-click once on it and choose Change Drive Letter and Paths. NOTE: Make sure you are changing your flash drive and not another drive. If you're changing something called C: or D: or E:, STOP and reconsider. Then click the Change button and choose a new drive letter for your flash drive. Choose something like Z or Q or Y or X. If you're not sure what drive letter to use, open up My Computer and pick something NOT already listed there. Once you've changed the drive letter, save your changes and exit the window. Your drive should now be displaying under My Computer with the new drive letter.

you should be able to right click on the folder itself and select delete, you should be able to drag and drop items to and from the flash drive. The most important thing is to always remember never ever remove anything like a flash drive until you have clicked the remove safely icon down in your systray and select which item you want to disconnect from your pc and wait till it says it is safe to remove. Not doing that can really mess stuff up. I have no idea why it would change the order unless did it perhaps put them in alphabetical order? if you right click start then explore and open your explorer tree find the drive letter assigned to the flash drive then from the right pane you should be able to drag and drop anything into that drive and in the same manner remove stuff from that drive. Or go to my computer find that drive select it and view what is on it and manipulate the data. When you select a picture on the flash drive and right click on it do you not have options listed there as to how you want it to open?

mike_kaiser And genes, Thank you so very much for responding. Sorry about my delay with a response but I was waiting for my actual laptop to get back. Was on another computer yesterday while my son had my laptop for work (he dropped his) but wanted the actual laptop with the problem in case there was someting else suggested here to try. I went to the product page as you suggested, mike_kaiser, but the driver listed is exactly the same one that is listed in my Device Manager so I didn't bother with that. No exclamations on any of the things in device manager---I even clicked each one to open each one all the way to see what was inside each main title. Yes, I rebooted several times. I even raised my virtual memory because I had received a message that it was too low while I was scrolling around Ebay. I rebooted after raising the virtual memory but still the little slot won't acknowledge the SD card. The little light on the slot does flicker. I guess that means it's working? genes, No, I haven't tried another SD card. But yesterday my neighbor took my SD card and loaded the photos on her computer. She said she is coming over today with a little mini flash drive (?) that I can stick in my laptop and download the photos to this laptop that way. This means the SD card itself isn't broken, right? Hi, I also have a Janome 300E, but I got the Gigi Hoop and Customizer 10000 Plus when I purchased mine. The Customizer progran allows you to easily save your designs to the flash card. In the Easy edit mode you can click on the ATA card on the tool bar and then choose the read, wirte, erase option. You open the folder,CD, or disk where your designs are saved, put a check mark by the designs you want to transfer, then click the write button in the middle. It will automatically send the JEF designs in the EmbF5 format that your machine needs. If you did get the customizer, I know Janome occasionally has promotions that give you certain items as a package deal, it makes it easy to do. If all else fails, instead of getting frustrated with the machine, call your dealer or go by and have them show you the easiest way for you to save your designs in the EmbF5 folder. I also found Janomie technical support very helpful and prompt with their replys. You can go to Janome website or email them at JAI Software Support, The E-mail Address is: softwaresupport@janome-america.com I don't know if this helps or not, as I didn't know what software you had available to use. Do you know anyone else that has a 300E, that maybe could mentor you??? I have a friend that got her 300E before I did, but she didn't do much with computers, so she gave me the money and I got her the cards and the reader/writer. I went to her house and hooked it up and showed her how to use it. I love my machine, I got it in Jan of 2005. I have done some digitizing with the customizer program. It's fun, but boy is it time consuming. I hope you get your problems worked out, so you can really enjoy your machine. Patti
