Questions re: Gifts/Boxes for military

I need to ship 2 boxes this Christmas. One will go to Afghanstan, the other to a base in VA.

For the overseas box, my idea list has fruit rollups, crackers (with cheese, peanut butter, etc); gum, jerky; chips in cans (like Pringles single serv) chap stick, tooth brush, baby wipes, lotion, baby powder, hard candy, single-serv pre-sweetened k-aid, single-serv gatorade if I can find it; playing cards; frisbee; puzzle books; socks, notepaper & envelopes (tho I don't think this g'son will use the latter :-) )

I'll probably add some home-made peanut brittle as that will ship ok. I sent cookies to a son in Desert Storm w/out

any 'fanfare' but not sure they were truly edible or if he just enjoyed Mama's baking in spite of some staleness.

Other than omitting the baby wipes & powder, I could probably use the same list for the g'son will be in VA. And I'll send magazines for them to read or share.

Any other suggestions? From personal experience or from sending to friends/family? TIA
