My Daughters Funeral

was on this day, ten years ago. She died of cancer on Sept. 8th, shortly before her 40th birthday. I still miss her terribly, especailly this time of year. Each year, I make it a point to do something for someone in need to honor her memory. It doesn't fill the hole in my heart but it does make it a little easier to bear. To those of you with adult daughters, will you please give them a hug if they're nearby or call them and tell them how very special they are to you, as a special tribute to my beloved Lori? God Bless each of you!

I'm sorry for your loss and I'm sure that is a hole that can never be filled. I do think it is great that you do something positive that honors your daughter's life.

I think signs can appear any time, often when you least expect it. I had my first sign from my son 3 months after he died, and I continue to receive them, although not often. I have had two dreams about his precious little girl, our granndaughter in the past week. I have never dreamed about her before...she's been gone 3 years, as he has. Please accept my sympathies on the loss of your precious Isaiah. Losing a child is a terrible hurt, but a small child or a baby is really unbelievable. I'm sure your nephew is everywhere around you.

I am SO sorry! I forgot to post! She didn't make it..least not that time! She's going back in January and try again. The night before the try-outs she did karaoke at a place here in town (to practice). Practicing seemed like a good plan at the time..but she she probably put too much strain on her vocal chords. They DID tell her she really really needed to come back in Jan!! I'll keep you posted as it gets closer!!

Here’s an updated photo of how it looks now. Her lettuce is growing so fast, we can barely keep up eating it! And everything else is growing well. We may have been a bit too ambitious with how much we planted but it’s a good experiment in intensive gardening. Here is what is in the bed from left to right: - radishes, we just planted more seeds as the last ones bolted in the heat we are having - corn - drying beans - carrots - peas - bell pepper - cucumber - tomato - green onion - lettuce I’ve started writing an ebook that goes through the full construction process of the bed/planter which I hope to have for sale by next month.

Oh, mamatoad, how wonderful you are to think of others. I'm sorry to say I don't think I could be so generous. I'm so sorry for your loss. It must be unbearable.

That is a wonderful way to remember your daughter, Mamatoad, and I bet she is smiling down at you for doing so. I'm so sorry for your loss, but so glad you turned it into something positive.

OH mamatoad! I'm so sorry for your loss....that must be the most unbearable thing to have happen? Did Lori have children? I'd love to hear about her! :) She must've been the same age as I.

It is so difficult when anniversaries and birthdays come up.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
My DS would have been 42 on September 2nd. He was almost 8 years old when he was killed by a falling tree.
We never stop missing them, do we?

Mamatoad. I'm so sorry for your loss. We belong to a sad club of parents who have lost children. My son has been gone 3 yrs as of May 3rd.

My Daughter was killed 1yr & 4 months ago. Does it get easier??? NO WAY!!! A piece of me died on that day also.

My heart goes out to you. Having lost my only child, I know how much it hurts, and I'm sure the pain never goes away. It's been more than 5 years since my son's death, and I still miss him terribly.

It's wonderful that you honor her memory by doing for others. Hugs!

I'm just sorry I can't think of anything to say that could ease your burden. My heart goes out to you not just for your loss but for your compassion toward others too. I hope you're comforted with your memories of the good times you shared.

Mamatoad, I too know the pain of loosing a child. My daughter was 45. I lost a brother when he was 10. My Mom often said that there is no loss that compares to the loss of a child. The pain lingers like no other pain.
No matter the age, our children are still our 'babies'.
Yes, hug all your 'babies' every chance you get.

I remember when my sister died of cancer right before her 40th birthday my mom was just devastated. I couldnt understand why, we were all sad but it hit her the worse. Now I can understand why. I always say that has got ot be the hafdes thing to go through. It isnt the way its supposed to happen. You are supposed to go first.

My thanks to all of you who send sympathy and kind words. I know that there are many of us here at the KT who share that special heartache. I don't sit in the shadows and dwell on it, but some days, like yesterday, are hard . Thank you for helping me get through it.

My sympathy to all here who have lost those nearest and dearest to you. I'm not big on 'resolving' grief, but what Mamatoad has written shows that that there is a way 'around' it that offers some relief.
