Remembering 9/11

To my fellow Americans - please stop a moment today and remember the events of 13 years ago. Our world stopped, many innocent lives were lost, and we were together in spirit that day and afterward. I still get chills and tear up when I remember the shock, fear, and unity.

I'm certainly not "over the top", but I do think it's important to respect and remember what happened and how it changed us. I posted earlier that Google disappointed me - simply because Google seems to be known for recognizing events through their logo. To me, they're often obscure events. Today, nothing but a small black ribbon well underneath the logo. But Google doesn't matter.

There are certainly mentions in the media today. I just hope that we, as a nation, don't let it slip into the realm of "long past", or "no longer relevant", or "not worth remembering". I don't intent to focus on it, but I do consciously remember it and am still humbled by the power of evil.

I'm holding the hands of all Americans today.

I was talking to a coworker today and remembered a show 3 years ago that talked about the survivors that were hurt badly, that have gone through many surgeries, therapy, divorces because of that awful day. We tend to remember that ones that died, or the ones that were not yet born, but we cannot forget they ones that are still trying to survive.

Edmunds sells bareroots, usually grafted on Dr. Huey rootstock. You have to get bareroots fresh, fresh, fresh, fresh. Most of the time from the big box stores, they have been sitting around for awhile and haven't been kept hydrated. Dehydration is death to bareroots. So, very green, very plump, fresh canes are critical. Next, the bareroots have to be rehydrated, so cover the roots with water and let them soak for a minimum of 24 hours, I like to let them soak for a few days (ok, sometimes it gets to weeks, but that's another story). Plant, and then you have to cover the canes until they break dormancy. You can cover with mounded soil or mulch or with a paper bag (cut out a hole from the bottom to let air in), but those canes still need to be kept moist. And water, water, water. Hope that helps.

Thank you for starting this thread. I've never felt so shaken and I was 1500 miles away here in Louisiana. My heart goes out today to everyone who was near the crashes and who knew someone personally whose life ended on this tragic day. I remember that after about 5 hours of being glued to the television, I just couldn't mentally couldn't take any more. I went to the barn and went out for a ride....life seemed so perfect and beautiful in my little corner of the world as I watched the cows and meandered around in the pastures of my neighbors. Then I realized that I was 10 miles north of one of the largest oil refineries in the world and 10 miles south of a nuclear power plant. Suddenly even my little corner of the world seemed very scary. Can you imagine people who live in countries where bombings occur on a regular basis? I was proud that my youngest played TAPS at his college this morning at a memorial service on their outdoor colonnade. I hope that future generations remember the lives lost ..... all individuals with hopes and dreams and families who loved them.... Grace

My hope is that we all take a moment to remember that day - not just on 9/11 but every day. If we all made an effort to live each day as if it were our last we would have fewer regrets in life. I know that day to day bs creeps in but how many of us can be a kinder gentler soul?

Everyone remembers, Suzieque. I remember watching TV that morning as I got ready to go to work, phoning family members. It was a day that changed the world.

Two years ago we visited the site in N.Y. It was a sad, emotional experience.

I think Google's black ribbon was somber, respectful, simple, heartfelt. Americans hurting like we all are designed it. It's ok.
