I would just do your job and tune out all those folks who aren't 'doing the job' - apparently the boss and decision-maker seems to think they are - he allows them to continue receiving a paycheck. Ear plugs are a wondrous invention!

dh has a co-worker who doesn't fulfill her sales quota at all. the problem is she was hired by the current owner's dad, and it was a biggie being she's a woman (almost unheard of in the industry) this has been going on for the 10 years dh has been there...too bad both co's can't or won't take action...

How about headphones? I see those on people in the office next to me. It sends a sign of, I'm concentrating, please don't interrupt me. Which is ok if you're only working by yourself, not interacting with customers. And you could listen to books, happy music, self-motivating mantras... something which could help? Dunno! I do feel for you, if that counts. My work is opposite. If I don't do my work, it doesn't get done. Only me! Go on vacation, and I come back to a mound of work that takes me twice as long and twice as hard to get done :( It's hard to do. Good luck finding your inner peace.

I've been in your shoes and know how frustrating it is. I didn't say anything to my boss or HR, just continued to do the job I was hired for. Are they fullfilling their duties or are you having to pitch in?

What I'm not understanding is if this has an bearing on YOU doing YOUR job? But...really...I wouldn't let it bother me unless I owned the business. Just do your job. And collect YOUR payheck.....

Excel at what you do and try to work you way out of the department by virtue of your incredible talents and work dedication. That ... or quit. :-)

I think that we have all been where you are or have family members that have been there~~GRRR it is maddening. I do not think you can complain, unless being asked for your input. Which that is not going to happen eh?

Yes, head phones and tuning out is the way to go~~for me I believe in Karma, what goes around comes around. They will get theirs someday, you may not see it or hear it, but someday it is all gonna hit the fan for them!

Take pride in what you do and just keep on going~~

If you get a written evaluation (once a year maybe) or even a verbal evaluation, you might want to consider submitting a written comment about completing more than your share of what happens in the office (without naming names).

Knowing that you are doing the right thing is good, try not to let this be a continuing source of aggravation.

I used to job share with someone who did not pull her weight. She did nothing for the "greater good" for our little 2-person department, just did only things which related specifically to her part of the work. Out of materials? Left for me to reorder or go get them. Boss wants a report? Left for me to do. Inventory time? My job. I still feel so irked when I think of it. (Of course, I should have spoken to her. Sometimes I wondered if she thought I was paid more, which I wasn't.)

Hang in there, Dawn, and do your job to the best of your ability, and you can be proud of yourself.

To me, there's a difference between someone clearly not doing their job, and someone who appears to not be doing their job.

I know someone who goofs off a lot at work, but also puts in overtime and works from home to make up for it. It's just how he functions. Other people are just faster or more efficient and end up with extra time, while others are great multi-taskers, so while it seems like they are just making phone calls, they might still be working.

It's not uncommon for me to be running data for a report, and surf the internet at the same time while i'm waiting for it to finish, so anyone going by my desk would assume I am just fooling around. My job also means a few weeks of inactivity where I have to kill time playing online, but it's balanced with crazy workloads where I don't even have time to go to the bathroom.

Our company does 365 reviews where we are asked to give feedback on our peers so if you have something like that, it might be a good opportunity.

We each have our own work. I know from department mtgs & such that I do more than the others on my team and "the boss" has said the others will soon be responsible to report all the same info I currently do.

This guy is an arrogant son of a gun, that in itself is annoying. Karma is so true and I know that, still frustrating seeing this laziness day in and day out. The "rules" are not the same for us either. Nothing I can do about that.

I used to have a different boss, life was fantastic! She treated everyone with respect and as a professional adult. Now under this boss, micro-managed to death, strict rules, treated like kids. Not fun. Headphones on the list to buy this weekend! Maybe I will reorg my work station so I don't face it too. Hate to have my back to the aisle, but might be necessary..... thanks again
