How are you doing? I am glad to see you are able to post!

Hi Pooh, Gee, I can't believe that I missed this thread. Thank you Minnie for letting us know about Pooh. I saw your post about your illness Pooh and I only had pneumonia once and that is when I was carrying my son. It was just awful and I never ever want that again. Every 5 years I go get a pneumonia shot now. As a matter a fact I got one about 3 weeks ago along with the flu shot. I also got the shingles shot and I got a small reaction from it but, my husband didn't, still worth getting those shots than getting the flu, pneumonia and the shingles. Glad to hear that you are on the road to recovery and please stay that way. Prayers are being sent your way. Take care now. Joyce

Oh dear, oh dear. Oh *bother*! How did I miss the DAY? Glad you had a nice celebration and wishing you more lovely days with family visiting. (Well, as much as you WANT them to visit, but that's just me.) What's the first birthday you remember? I can only go back to about age seven and a party at home with about ten classmates-- all GIRLS, of course. We played 'telephone' around the table.

Load bearing wall - how do ya know??

If your ceiling joists span exterior wall to wall, perpindicular walls are not load bearing. If the joists are spliced and land on that wall,they are still not necessarilly bearing, but you dont want to interrupt the splice.If you have access to your attic, you can see if there is any roof bracing landing on that particular wall,or any structural element indicatiating a load bearing wall.If no access, as in mariposatraicionera(phew!)'s case, you will have to cut out an inspection hole in the area of the wall enough to get a look to see if their is bracing, or any other element landing on the wall making it load bearing. Properly supported bearings start from the foundation and travel on up. On a crawl space or basement,as ron stated,It starts at the footing or pier and is supported up through the floor,then posts or a wall, on up to the roof framing that is braced off of that. All supported down below at the foundation level. This is why trusses and engineered products such as i-joists have come in to play, because they span uninterrupted, making interior walls partitions rather than load bearing.

I am sad to hear of his passing. He was such a gentle, helpful person, with a good spirit and I don't think that he had a mean bone in his body. I enjoyed his posts and a visit with him and Cindy, over ten years ago. If you read this, Cindy, I offer my deep condolences. (((((Cindy))))) Would some of you who do Facebook please tell her of the messages of good will and sorrow that have appeared here. People asked for a picture ... and there was a camera right there in the room, but we didn't think to take one! I don't think that my pic had been on the KT earlier. ole joyful

I have been doing really good lately. I'm starting to retain a little fluid but for the
most part I have been stable. The fluid gain is going very slowly.
I have been able to walk around quite a bit (for me) and I'm not confined to
my power chair like before. I've been going to church; I missed doing that.
I can go for short periods without my oxygen tube. I shouldn't but I can.
It becomes a necessity when I'm out and about and the tank goes empty.
I take extra tanks with me but when I don't have my oxygen I tire out more quickly.
Hospice got a carrier for our vehicle that Cindy can load my chair by herself.
Now when I get to the point again that I can no longer help it will be easier on Cindy.
So for now I feel great. Hope it continues for a long time.
Thanks for all the prayers and good thoughts. It's helping.

Oh my gosh that is just fantastic news! Hey every day that you can say is a good day is awesome! I hope you continue to have more and more of them. Miracles happen every day! Still praying.
