No steroids here. My nurse says it is a combination of too many carbs, no exercise, and my pancreas is not producing enough insulin. I have been taking massive doses of insulin. Sometimes up to 50cc. Most times my blood sugar readings have been over 500. My meter only goes up to 500 then it reads HI. A few nights ago it read over 500 so I took 50cc of insulin. Three hours later I took another reading and it was in the high 300's. So I took 30 more units of insulin (80 units total in 3 hours). The next morning my blood sugar reading was 411. I don't know why it went up during the night.

Hi (again) Amer Auto Ass'n. ("A A A" for short) It has, so far ... ... now all I have to do is avoid getting into "scrapes" (or bang-ups) ... ... and I'm good to go for the next two ears. (Dang keyboard - that was supposed to be "years"!). Hope I can keep the equipment between those "ears" - and function, as well - in half decent shape for those two years ...for in recent times increasingly it seems as though I can't remember a darn thing. ole joyfuelled

I'm doing better. Now if I could just shake this cough.
And I get tired really easy. Been sleeping a lot.
Getting pneumonia is not something I want to do again.

Pooh Bear,

You are one of our oldtimers and cherished by all of us that have learned so much from you. TxKen and you were my heroes when I first started computing and knew so little. Hung on to every word you all typed for us.

Know what you mean about the cough. Have had pneumonia, too, and it is not anything to be taken lightly. Seems like it takes forever to get your strength back and the cough stays longer than forever.

Hang in there friend and we are praying for you.

Oh Pooh so sorry to hear you're feeling under the weather....to say the least. I read somewhere that rubbing Vicks Vaporub on your feet (put on some nice snuggly socks afterwards) helps calm a cough.......give it a try....it sure can't hurt.

Gee, I can't believe that I missed this thread. Thank you Minnie for letting us know about Pooh.

I saw your post about your illness Pooh and I only had pneumonia once and that is when I was carrying my son. It was just awful and I never ever want that again.

Every 5 years I go get a pneumonia shot now. As a matter a fact I got one about 3 weeks ago along with the flu shot. I also got the shingles shot and I got a small reaction from it but, my husband didn't, still worth getting those shots than getting the flu, pneumonia and the shingles.

Glad to hear that you are on the road to recovery and please stay that way. Prayers are being sent your way. Take care now.

I'm actually doing much better now (2 weeks later).
I have had a pnuemonia shot within the past 5 years.
But having CHF weakens my lung function and lets fluid collect.
CHF = Congestive Heart Failure.
Cindy got a bad cold from me but she is doing better too.

I have an appointment with the heart doc for an ultrasound
this coming Monday on our wedding anniversary.
Probably go out to eat afterwards and to a movie.
