Delete it in Edit Profile.

I tried to but it didn't work. What's the option?

Did you refresh the page after you deleted it?

It shouldn't be there if you deleted it in Edit Profile.

I edited my profile and removed the town where I live completely even though it's been there since I came on FB three or four years ago. I refreshed, made a comment and it's still there.

The only thing I can think of is that you might not have clicked on "Save Changes" after you deleted it...but it should give you a notice that you haven't saved it before you leave the page.

Try it another way:

From your Profile page, click on Info, which is on the left-hand side of the page.

Scroll down to Contact Information and click on Edit. See if the city is there. If it is, delete it from there and see if that works.

oldgardner..You have been very kind and I appreciate it, but I still have it appearing after doing all you suggested. I don't know how it appeared in the first place.

Maybe someone else can figure it out for you, hope so.

Hmmm... Maybe you have your city listed as your network...Try looking and changing that (under acct settings) or maybe you have your city listed with your address under contact info. and that's popping up. I'm not really sure what you are looking at since I haven't seen the lives "near" description. Sounds odd and like it's something new. Is it your actual city popping up or just a location near you?

Have you recently downloaded a game or some other thing from facebook...like a find who is looking at your page program or view your top five friends? Sometimes those programs add things and you may have to go and delete the program or game for it to disappear. Good luck; let us know if you figure it out.

Did you really save at the part of the info that asks about your town. There are other places you have to save too. Please make sure you are specific. In fact, those on your page should get a notice saying you changed your info.
So, save and log out and log back in.

I have done it all so I'm using my past experience with problems like that.
I will tell you this should not happen. FB has been criticized for privacy issues.

I just went to edit my profile (which is in the upper left hand corner next to your profile picture and under your name. The first item is current city-the next hometown. clicked on the x next to the one with a city and saved changes and it was gone

My actual towns pops up, not the city I live near. I have tried everything everyone suggested, and it's still there. I deleted the name of the town altogether and saved the change and it won't go. I haven't a clue why it's there in the first place since it just showed up after four years.

I did it. I clicked beside my comment block and got rid of both places. Thanks everyone.
