I'm Back!

Had a great vacation in San Francisco. Lots to see and do, we did almost everything on our list. Unfortunately it was too foggy in the bay every day to see the Golden Gate Bridge but we did see parts of it sticking up from the fog. It was still cool. I loved the zoo and the aquarium. The streets are just as hilly and steep as I expected and we walked a lot! Also used the buses and street cars so that was convenient. The weather was good in spite of the fog in the bay but I did need a jacket most of the time. Even though it was sunny the wind was chilly. I've got pics on my blog but will also be putting more on my website later.

Wow Jane, I am tired just reading about what all you did! Sounds like a wonderful time and lots of work and effort on your part. What a large group to entertain! So nice that your DH helps you with the decorating. Mine does not help with the inside at all. I carry everything up from the basement including the trees, all the boxes, ladders, etc. The only thing he does outside is put a blow mold Santa on our mailbox, although this year, he did run an extension cord from the backyard for some of the lights as they kept tripping the breaker this year! Again, getting everything down out of the rafters, off of the shelves, and put up is up to me! Sorry, I just needed to vent a little. I get a bit envious when I hear of other DH's that help with decorating. Anyway, looking forward to your pix. TFS, Candy

Lars - Growing up in a Jewish household, I was always envious of my Christian friends at Christmas. They all had these beautiful trees; full of colored lights and glittering ornaments. And of course, boxes and boxes of wrapped presents in all different happy designs and ribbons. We had a plug-in menorah and a coat closet with our wrapped presents - blue and white paper only - placed high enough that we couldn't reach them. When I met Suzi, the first thing I made clear was that Jewish or not, we were going to always have a Christmas tree. (The irony was that despite being born Jewish, she had become Catholic 33 years before we met.) So even though she's gone I'm going to carry on the tradition. Here's mine...

Maggie, lol. That sounds exactly like my yard. In fact mines is worst. I planted some winter jasmine that has the most incerdible fragrance early spring before anything else even wakes up, that it has climbed onto my windows and window sill. I had to cut it back, I was so upset. I would of let it grow as big as it wanted too if I could of. Funny how much we can squeeze in such smaller places. I can't tell you how many dianthus I bought this past spring and still don't know where to plant them.lol If there is an inch, I utilize it. More and more fragrant plants and no where to put them, but I will find a spot, even if I have to sneak one into my neighbors sunny area. Ha I'm ok. I am very happy to see you back. Have you been to the citrus forum lately? Do you have any citrus? You need some..lol

Hey what did I miss and when . I had no idea you had been away Brad , I just figured like me you were busy and not enough hours in the day to do all that needs to be done this time of year. Too bad about Spoken in Parables. I see that it has Dragon's Eye in its heritage I wonder if that is the culprit and makes it tender and few buds . I used to have Dragon's Eye and I was not particularly impressed ....turfed it some time ago .

Beautiful pictures!!!!! I've been there. I got hooked on bee & flower soap, I picked up in China town. Now I order it by the case online.....and the San Francisco sourdough bread & orange spice tea! YUM!

Looks like you had a good time as well!!! :0)

Did you eat at China Town or at Fisherman's Wharf?

Great pics as usual. Thank you so much for sharing them because I'll never get a chance to be in that part of Calif. again. And didn't even begin to see much when I was there due to my boring ex-hubby.
