For Pete's Sake!!

I had surgery on my foot two weeks ago. They put on a cast and told me to stay off of it for two weeks! Arg! I was to have my follow-up appointment tomorrow and probably begin to put weight on it and go back to work. Just got a phone call from the doctor's office and they have to reschedule my appointment until Friday! Oh no! I've told myself that maybe I need two extra days, but I've got cabin fever so bad! I was just counting the minutes until tomorrow and now they are adding two more whole days! Poor me! Anybody want to join the pity part or ideas to help me pass the time?

Well how about just a hug... I can understand the disappointment but two days isn't that long...Ok it is too long but what cha going to do? I'm sorry that you are going to have to wait...try and stay busy.

It was a very light rain here in Marietta but it wet the ground and that will let other water be absorbed better so now is a good time to water. Since I will be heading for Gulf Shores for a week I need to get everything watered before I go and with an acre that will take a little time. Everyone else where we'll go will be fishing but I will be playing my guitar and working on my next CD. I'd write a sad song but I've written too many of those already. Sorta wandering off topic here but can't think of anything else to say about rain except curious about what outfit was worn for the rain dance? Next time dance a little longer.

Gosh Sue, I have to say that I have only experienced the delight of skunk a couple of times. I was a nature camp counselor when I was in high school (seems like a long time ago) and let me tell you...there was NO delight about it :) Pepe LePeu was not charming in the least. Guard dogs? You are cracking me up! Maybe they would give the monster opposum a run for it's money? Oh, I agree with you Sue. I like the circle of life idea much better than having to look that hopper into it's "one thousand eyes" and saying....."go ahead, make my day hopper" right before I spray it into oblivion. I know they are detrimental, but like all living creatures it's better to know that they go down for a reason. Truth be known, I like birds better then pestilence, so eat up little flying friends. Just a hour ago I was out there in the yard contemplating my strategy with these grasshoppers and one of them looked at me wrong. I tried to blast it with the hose and it laughed in my face. I started to feel weak and couldn't zap it with the spray just yet. But wait.....there is always tomorrow. These hoppers are going DOWN. lol KR

You've got two very young children and lots of history together -- What you have is so very important that you REALLY need to try to save it. But 'saving it' does NOT mean "suck it up"! You've already done plenty of that and it's not working... Right now, you're exhausted and feeling resentful; and hard as it is for you to believe, your wife is probably *also* exhausted and resentful. Caring for two little ones at home all day is truly exhausting, and the lack of sexual intimacy in a marriage with young children is legendary. It's become a running gag on TV precisely because it is so true... Get yourselves into counseling! It sounds to me like your wife may have some anxiety issues; and you and her parents have been enabling her for years. Weaning her from all of her crutches will take time, and possibly even medication -- but it can be done, and you all will be better off for it. It's not hard to see how her fears will be passed along to her children if they're allowed to continue. Of course you should be able to have the occasional night off. (As should she, and the two of you together.) And as others have already pointed out, what's with the homework duty? YOU are not the one who's going to be a teacher, and if her own work is not up to snuff, how is your fixing it helping her? Or the kids she will go on to teach? If she were trying to get into medical school, TOP grades would be necessary, but to teach? Sometimes 'good' is plenty good enough. Make some changes Struggling, and do it NOW. (Before you're so darned tired that nothing could work.) Stop just sucking it up and start talking to her. Organize your thoughts, and make a list (yes, a paper list) of the most important two or three points you need to make. Find ways to explain your points that are short, simple and kind; and don't let her get away with twisting your words into things you don't mean. Ask her to repeat back to you what you said (and meant) so you know that she understands you, and be sure to emphasize that it's because you want your marriage to last that you're saying these things.

Hiya Dances Hmmm, you sure that wasn't my brother? I can't talk to my brother who is 6 years older than me about anything, I can't ask for advice because he will take anything I say to him and turn it into an arguement. I don't even have to be talking to him and he attacks. Been this way to me all of my life. I became his worse enemy the day I was born and took his spot as the youngest. I have learned to not talk to him at all, even about good things that happen to me. LOL My sisters and I always tell my sweet sister-in-law she must have done something bad in a past life to end up marrying my brother. LOLOL She notices my brother is talking to his 20 something year old daughters the same way he talks to me and she called him on it - telling him he is treating them jus tlike he treats me and it isn't nice. Finally, she gets it. LOL She thought that Raymond was changing for the worse but I told her she is just noticing it, love made her blind and he is the same Ray he has always been. What I love most, his girls are giving it right back at him, something I never learned to do and I am tickled pink about that. They don't take any of his guff. I used to walk around him on tenderhooks but not so much anymore. I finally stood up to him and told him he was just a big AH. Sorry this person gave you a hard time Dances. I would love to know what makes them behave the way they do. Anne

Thank you both for the messages. Here is pretty much the sum of my existance as I'm not supposed to put any weight on my foot and I'm very unsteady on the crutches. (The PT told me not to even try the stairs!) The only thing you can't see is my laptop because I closed the lid to get the picture of the coffee table!

Here is my TV with The View going and my current jigsaw puzzle...

Here is my buddy who doesn't care how pitiful I get!

and, the foot and all my reading, snacking stuff.

That's too funny... er, I mean --- not "Ha Ha" funny, but... well, that's too funny!

Bless your heart! After my dad having multiple toe surgeries this year (each followed by a staph infection), he can certainly share your "cabin fever" attitude. Thankfully, he is all healed up and back out in the yard. Get well soon!

Wow-that 'thing' does look so cumbersome. How about going thru your phone book and catching up with friends you haven't spoken to in a long time? Make a list of all the places you will go to when 'free' again!

You KT'rs are the greatest! I was distracted with a little work (a coworker brought some paperwork for me to sign) and couldn't wait to get back and see what you guys had written to me! Thanks for the feedback and ideas!

OKWriter, glad your Dad is doing better. I actually don't spend much time feeling sorry for myself before I remember there are so many others who are facing much bigger challenges than I.

The bird is hopeless! He won't say anything in spite of saying "hi" to him for years now. He does whistle two different ways but got lazy after those two lessons!

You guys must be saying little prayers for me, too because I'm not minding being grounded so much this afternoon! The phone has been ringing and other things have popped up and the day is just skating on by! It's really just an attitude thing, right? I usually is!

I'm just as disappointed as bigbaby that her appt. has been pushed back 2 more days. For the last 2 weeks I've been her gopher... go fer this; go fer that. Not to mention that she has to wear that gigantic cast thing to bed, too. It's like having a third person in there!

Hahhahaha. ROFL!! We have now officially heard from the peanut gallery! Seriously though, what would I do without the help of such a wonderful husband? I have no idea. Ron has been so great--a gofer but more than that, my friend even when I'm not being so friendly! THANK YOU, HONEY!!!!! I LOVE YOU!

I don't know if you were around a couple of years ago when we were all doing the Garfield online game....it should keep you frustrated/busy for a while...when you complete this one try Garfield 2.

Hey, girl, as one of TWO people at our house that went through similar circumstances a few years ago - I can definitely relate!! I kept "baby" candy bars in my walker bag and consoled myself occasionally with those. Bless Twinkie's heart (my DH) - he carried the potty and emptied it, helped me in and out of bed, in and out of the shower, etc. for weeks.

Just go ahead and have a pity party - you deserve it! Oh, yeah, and you, too, Ron! LOL
