It's June for pete's sake...

..and we are expecting a frost tonight. Yes, I covered all the tender plants. I still have stuff in the greenhouse that needs to be planted. I've had them outside during the day to harden them off, but have to haul everything back in at night. Who said "global warming"? Not in my neighborhood!!

Not here in Oregon, either. I wore a turtleneck, vest, jacket, gloves, and a blanket on my lap to our son's high school graduation! Finally, FINALLY, we saw sun this afternoon.

Ah yes. Taking the plants for a walk. I have a couple of raspberries in the house (they were in quarantine) and I've been taking them out for a walk for about a week, trying to get their delicate over-sized house plant leaves used to the sunshine. My grape cuttings have finally been moved outside. I've got them on a cart so I can get them out of the sun after a couple of hours, so they don't get a sunburn. But they are dealing with the air temperatures quite well. Pumpkins desperately need to be hardened off, but they hate being moved and their garden won't be ready for them for a couple more weeks, so I won't take them out for a walk until closer to time to plant them. They act like spoiled little brats, whining and drooping if they get moved. Tomatoes need to go out, but I have to re-pot them first. It's June, for Pete's sake. When is it going to stop freezing at night?

How about a little rain for pete's sake?

It was a very light rain here in Marietta but it wet the ground and that will let other water be absorbed better so now is a good time to water. Since I will be heading for Gulf Shores for a week I need to get everything watered before I go and with an acre that will take a little time. Everyone else where we'll go will be fishing but I will be playing my guitar and working on my next CD. I'd write a sad song but I've written too many of those already. Sorta wandering off topic here but can't think of anything else to say about rain except curious about what outfit was worn for the rain dance? Next time dance a little longer.

Hi - Checking in for the sake of our ears! (Just kidding DeeMarie!) QOD - I am going to a craft show in the park tomorrow with a friend of mine and then out to lunch. The doc put me on prednisone this week and my cough is slowing improving. My back also improved, and a friend of mine who is a nurse, said the steroid could be doing double duty. If so, I say thanks heavens. I got out of bed yesterday without grimacing and finally feel like my back is normal. DD is coming home next Wednesay to pack up her things and get ready for the big move. Things have been hectic as I have been trying to get her some last minute appts., gathering up things she will need and trying to organize a going away party for her for next Sunday. Keeping busy so I don't have a chance to think too much, but I am still teary. Watched a sad movie the other night and cried the whole way through. :~( Gotta go and put some dinner on the table. Plus some nasty storms are heading this way and I should get off the computer. Later, Marci

Hey, girl, as one of TWO people at our house that went through similar circumstances a few years ago - I can definitely relate!! I kept "baby" candy bars in my walker bag and consoled myself occasionally with those. Bless Twinkie's heart (my DH) - he carried the potty and emptied it, helped me in and out of bed, in and out of the shower, etc. for weeks. Just go ahead and have a pity party - you deserve it! Oh, yeah, and you, too, Ron! LOL ((Bigbaby))

We are the opposite - we are having a tropical heat wave when it should only be in the mid 70's this time of year. Last week we were in the high 90's and today was as our weather girl puts it hot and "smuggy" out.

Gees- frost in June! Where are you located - Alaska?

We've been saying the same thing - "It's only June - why are the temperatures in the mid 90's?" That's August weather.

We've got the "global warming" here in South Central Texas! Our highs have been reaching 100º and it's only June. I wonder what August will be like? I hate to see what our electric bills will be for the air conditioning!

I have a flannel shirt on this morning, and the wind is whipping. I still have some planting to do, but not in this weather. I guess I prefer it to the terrific heat some of you are getting, though.

We are in the northern Rockies --- we got snow yesterday. It was just enough to cover the ground but they got heavy snow in the mountain passes. Odd for June. Montana_Jan

Hi Montana Jan....we lived in Butte in the 80's and remember wearing parkas to watch the 4th of July parade with some snow flakes falling around us. Can't say I loved the weather, but LOVED Momtana and wish we had stayed there instead of coming back to MN. Lately, it is T shirts one day and sweatshirts the next. Certainly not boring. Dottie

Haven't been able to wear shorts yet here either! Sweatshirts and jeans and if your brave, you wear flip-flops with them!
Rain, rain and more friggen rain. I think we must be at least at 3 inches for this month! Then add cold and yep wind 30-40mph and there is NO spring or summer here yet.
I dunno who has my 80 degree days but darn it SEND THEM BACK!

We have been having the opposite weather that we usually have in June. We usually get fog in the morning, what the locals call June Gloom, then it gets up to the 70's. The last 2 summers, hardly any fog and temps in the 90's. I have been here for 22 years so I know when things are not normal and that is not normal!
