I like to put cheese on a microwave safe plate and nuke it till it turns hard and bubbly and it is crunchy. It is like eating a cheese chip.

When out of salsa I have just opened a can of diced tomatoes, squeezed a little lime or lemon in it and some garlic salt and had that as a substitute salsa, not bad.

Raven--I do the same thing with cheese (only it's better to do it on a piece of parchment paper--easier and less clean-up). Those cheese crisps are great for a snack, and fantastic crumbled on a salad or with tomato soup. Cheddar, Parmesan work great. Even better? Buttermilk Blue crumbles mixed with chopped walnuts--YUM!

My summer school kids kids cooking classes LOVE making those cheese things, and end up requesting them every year, so the last week, we clean out all the leftover bits of this or that kind of cheese in the fridge and snack on them.

An odd food DD and I love? Grilled cheese sandwiches made with: cinnamonn bread, sliced tart apples, extra sharp cheddar and some chopped pecans or walnuts.

Wow,,,I just learned something,,,you actually cook with tomato paste..

All these years I've never had a broken tomato so I figured I didn't need tomato paste.

Oh I've done the cheese thing also, that is so good that way.
Had one of these just yesterday, a peanut butter and Miracle Whip sandwich. Yummy! My DH just shudders. My Dad used to make these.

Lazypup, if you haven't used paste for your tomatoes, have you per chance needed to use butt paste?

Butt paste??? Never heard of it,,,i have always assumed there is supposed to be a crack in your butt...are you telling me I should paste it shut???

On the subject of tomato paste, I always feel a little annoyed when I have a recipe which calls for a couple tablespoons of tomato paste because I don't like to open a can and use just a little. Maybe everyone knows this, but I recently found it in a tube which you can keep in the ref. and just use when you need and it keeps a long time. I forget the name--starts with an A.

Socks12345, I keep looking for the tomato paste in tubes, it takes eons for our mediocre Super Value to get new products in. Even if I did buy the tubes of tomato paste.....I can just see myself squirting it in my mouth. LOL

When I was a kid I ate cream cheese and jelly (any flavor) on white bread. My friend Andrea liked potato chip sandwiches.

I kept looking for tomato paste in a tube at Publix. I was looking in the produce dept. where they have tubes of cilantro and other herbs. I finally found it in the aisle with the pasta and sauces. Probably was there all the time. Sure is handy.

I looked at the tubes of tomato paste but considering a can was 25â-50â and a tube was $3.50-$4 for comparable amounts, I figured I'd toss the rest I didn't use if I didn't use a full can and be way ahead financially. And I know I could freeze it too. But usually if I use tomato paste I use the full can anyway.

There's probably things I eat that's strange but can't think of it. I imagine I just don't see it as being strange! Although lately there's been one little treat I give myself that's rather unusual. Frosted animal cookies! I need to watch the weight a bit but still want a sweet or a dessert. Sweetness and crunch with crumbliness too. And yes they even have the sprinkles on them. A few of them and I'm quite satisfied where before I'd look for something far more. Sort of feel like a kid again too.
