Socks, I've had only Gevalia coffeemakers for about 20 years now. I've never been happier. I like their coffee, but it is a bit expensive. Call me bad, but when I need/want a new coffeemaker I respond to one of their many emails or flyers or ads in the newspaper and rejoin the club. I get the free promotional item and stay with the club long enough to stockpile a bit of their really smooth coffee, then cancel. The last pot we got was just perfect for us. It brews directly into the two commuter cups that came with it. I found some nice tall mugs at the grocery store that fit under it perfectly, too, and we use that thing every day.

Last time we got a "regular" coffeemaker, they had run out of the one they were promoting and sent us a de Longhi, which was also a very good pot. FYI, I think someone else makes the pots for Gevalia and they just put the Gevalia name on them.

And I've never had a problem with them removing me from their shipping list when I decided to quit.

I got one several years ago we used it for a long time...(12 to 15 years)

The coffee pot was a carafe....The glass on the inside broke last year...So I've been seriously thinking about taking them up on the offer again.

I have one. It only gets used when we have company. I don't (can't) drink coffee anymore, for years already. Jerry drinks only one cup some mornings. He used a Melitta filter directly on his cup. Less clean up, and no counter space sacrificed.

I've always wondered too - I hate to get stuck in something that I can't get out of.

I've joined about 3 times in 20 years for their good offers. I have one of their carafes at the cabin. I use a Bunn here at home. But if it dies, I may just get another one of those for here at home. I too cancel after ording a couple of months. It is a little expensive, and I prefer Hazelnut coffee.

i joined for about 6 months and then canceled
the coffeemaker was nothing special... i still have it in the storage shed i think.
the coffee i had to buy worked out to be over $10/13oz bag
and that was back when coffee was about $2/lb.
and i think i *had* to buy 2 a month
(how much it is now? i don't even buy coffee anymore)
seemed like a waste of money to me so i canceled

We have joined a couple of times. DH loves their coffee but not the price. I don't drink coffee. Their tea is very good. The pots are fine and all you have to do to cancel is call them.

I got one years and years ago. The coffeemaker was a little four cup, plastic, cheapie. Nothing to brag about. The coffee was OK. There is better out there. The coffee was pricey, but they wanted to lock you into a *subscription* and that would not work for my needs. I drink hot coffee seasonally. I canceled right away and did not have a problem.

I use a microwave percolator coffee pot. It does not take up counter space and make good coffee. I don't see them sold anymore and worry about mine breaking and not being able to replace it.

Got a Gevalia about 5 or so years ago and it works great. As soon as I got it I cancelled the membership. It was very easy to do and they haven't bothered me at all.

Was given one for Christmas and I love it! No coffee, just the coffee maker.

My cousin's GF got one of their coffeemakers at a garage sale. Was a very nice unit with a thermal carafe. 10 cup I think, probably no larger, could have been 8 but that would be the smallest it is. But I've wanted a thermal carafe unit. I currently use a vacuum bottle to keep it hot and not have to leave it on the maker. Never had their coffee. Was going to sign up for it to get one of the makers but all they offered when I checked was the 2 cup maker and that's no good for me. I too go in streaks. Lots of coffee in the winter, not much in the summer, except if I have a real nice breakfast.

I bought myself a percolator but haven't tried it yet. Procrastination. Then at a garage sale I found a Pyrex glass percolator for $2 so I grabbed that. I had a glass percolator for quite a while and it was fantastic. Don't see them anywhere. I checked on ebay to find a Pyrex percolator about a year ago and saw 3 of them starting at about $75. I'm debating about putting it onto ebay and see what I get!

I bought one at the thrift store for a couple of bucks. It was the 10-12 cup thermal. It seemed to work just fine. Since it is just me in the morning drinking coffee I bought a 4 cup and gave that one away.

For the price of a couple of orders of their coffee you can buy a very good coffee maker.

The trick to their marketing scheme is the fact that any coffee, even crappy coffee, will always taste better in a brand new coffee maker rather than an old stained one that has soaked up oils that have gone rancid.

People place their first order and receive a new coffee maker. People think the coffee tastes GREAT! Order more coffee.

If you are not happy with the taste of your current coffee, try a new coffee maker and see if that makes a difference. I bet it will.

I joined Gevalia twice, got two free coffeemakers, had no problems cancelling. Their coffee is good but expensive. I'm thinking of joining for a third time.

Dilly, just as you said, we do have a coffeemaker which we have used for probably 6-7 years. It works fine, and DH never complains about the coffee, but it's getting kind of crusty and icky looking. I do run vinegar through it from time to time.

Maybe I'll just get one at BBB and forget the Gevalia.

I've never joined because I've always found their coffee to smell cloying and/or rancid. Maybe I'm spoiled in NorCal, with custom coffee roasters on every street corner, but I've never liked the aroma of their ground coffee. Just my 2 cents.

Just cleaning a coffeemaker makes a world of difference on taste. Run some vinegar through it. Let it sit in it a while to get the buildup and finish running it. Run a few clear water runs and it'll be like new. That is if there isn't another problem. I did have one where the hose inside started to break down. Whew, was that awful tasting! No sense repairing it

I too had joined them for about 1 yr. I joined several type of memberships at the same time. I didn't like the other flavors so I cancelled all except for 1, the regular membership. Currently, I only like their French Roast and that's the one I've been ordering.

I like their coffee maker too. Probably, it's because it was free =o)

What I like about Gevalia is that you can go online and register for an account/membership. Then, you can set how many packages, what kind and how often would you like for the delivery. You can also suspend the delivery if you travel, etc.
