I do not know about this particular model, but I have an Instant Pot pressure cooker that looks very similar in design and features.
I really love mine. My "go-to" things I cook at least once a week are rice, oatmeal, chicken and soup.
I also love making pot roast.
The QVC price is really good.

One of the things I read from posters on the QVC site, after asking this question of course, Is they are NOT happy that the inner pot is non-stick. One person even said they ordered a 6 qt. stainless replacement pot from Amazon. That will put the cost over $100. Hmmmm.......

I have had three pressure cookers in my adult life (my mother also cooked with one). None were non-stick. One of things that one must get accustomed to is adding liquid. Pot roast and soup and beans must have liquid. I use a rice cooker and have never tried a pressure cooker, rice doesn't take long. The pressure cooker is designed to make things cook in a short time frame. Thus cooking dried beans and pot roasts are great for a busy person. However, today's crock pots can do similar tasks, but it takes longer.

6 quarts is a decent size pot for an average family. We are only two and have gotten by with a 4-quart cooker for a long time.

Generally, there are recipes included with the instructions.

Katlan, yes, I missed the non-stick thing. I totally forgot one of the main reasons I bought the Instant Pot was because of the stainless steel pot. (no non-stick coating).
And mine was over $100.

I will still say again how much I love it....

I think 6-qt. is a great size, and I only cook for 2. Gives plenty of space, which I'm glad for when cooking down a chicken carcass for the broth. Personally, I would not want non-stick. Mine (stove-top) is stainless steel; I would not consider aluminum either.

If you have never used a pressure cooker before, you might like to get Bob Warden's book "Slow Food Fast."

By the way, by the time you finish purchasing that "special value," it will run about $80 (depending on your sales tax rate). Buying an Amazon insert might not be a good idea as it might not be compatible with this machine. If you decide you don't like it and want to return to QVC, you pay return shipping. You might be better off buying locally.

It's non-stick....don't do it for THAT reason alone....

I love really good fried chicken, Safeway makes their deli fried chicken in a pressure cooker.....for THAT reason alone I want one!

We are normally discussing pressure 'canners' on the harvest forum, not necessarily the same criteria for cooking loose foods.

I have the Fagor electric pressure cooker (multi function appliance, it browns, slow cooks, rice cooker too) that looks similar to that one and I love it. I use it a lot, really simplifies my meals. It will be three years old next month, I've had no issues at all with the non-stick interior in the cooker, it makes clean up a breeze.

I wouldn't want any of my larger canners to be non stick. And they are not, I have three vintage mirros that I can in, I use only the Fagor for cooking any more.

Nicole, a pressure fryer is a different appliance completely. You cannot fry chicken in a pressure cooker nor may you fry chicken in a pressure canner....way too dangerous unless you are using one made specifically for pressure frying. I don't know of anyone other than commercial enterprises who has one and suspect they are expensive.

It is seeming more and more to me that I should pass on this. I have a crockpot that I use for venison roast. Love how they turn out. But it takes hours and hours. It's oval shaped, the ceramic/stoneware bowl is removable for cleaning. It was only 15 bucks, but it's not insulated and the outside gets ripping hot.

I think I'll keep looking. I like the idea of a pressure cooker, to get things cooked much faster, but I want to avoid the non-stick.

In almost 60 years of married life, I could not have survived without a pressure cooker...I had a big one and now use the smaller, I guess it's 6 quart..The 1st one was aluminum (sp) and the last one is stainless...The stainless is much easier to clean and neither were non-stick.....

We've never had a pressure cooker, I'm not sure what having one would do for us.

I think qvc often features less than top quality stuff at higher than average prices.

I still have two sizes of Flex-Seal stove top pressure cookers, but I'm a bit afraid to try to use either one -- afraid the gaskets are not up to it! These were gifts to my mother from a neighbor who was one of the first salesmen for the then-new home pressure cookers. They weigh a *ton*!

I used to always make beef stew in the larger -- so quick, and the beef is totally 'relaxed' -- LOL -- just the right texture.

If I had family around I'd get one, Mom had one (The old fashioned kind)and her chicken was great I was always afraid of them A home EC teacher in high school had one blow up in her face

I don't know anything about this one, but I will say that the ones I have researched in the possibility of buying one, I definitely want one that has the brown saute option like my Aroma cooker, and the slow cooker option and steam as well so it can be multi purpose. Being able to brown and saute prior to cooking all in the same pot is extremely nice and I use that function on my Aroma cooker all the time. Not all of the new type have a lot of those options so seeing all the options on this model is a plus. But I always heavily rely on the real users reviews.
If you are getting one whether it be this one or another you should research the various options so you know which ones you definitely want and which ones you can live with out.
After using my Aroma cooker for so long now I would not consider a pressure cooker that did not have at the very least those three options and I would probably also want the soup/stew option also.
Usually I am able to find equal or better options on sites other than qvc so just do some searching.

As I recall growing up (the missus questions that statement), we also used the pressure cooker pot for making popcorn. Heavy metal transfers the heat nicely. We put the lid on only to keep the kernels from getting away. We did not seal it, just put the lid on. Of course that was with Crisco, then butter was added and salt, of course. Maybe that is why my MD is on my case so much!

I have never owned a pressure cooker, and never thought I needed one.
I worked full time for 40 years, and never thought of buying one. I did all my slow cooking soup and stew making on weekends.
Pressure cookers, IMO, break down the fiber in good grade meat.

Hope you find a 50% off sale and buy one.

I have a Cook 's Essentials 10 quart pressure cooker and I love it. It is non-stick and there are no concerns about that. I cook in it regularly and prefer the larger size.

I recommend you loom at discount stores before buying on line. Tuesday Morning regularly has various manufacturers and they are well priced.

I have never had a pressure cooker either but last night my Mom called me and said she bought one for herself, me and my Brother so I am excited to get it. The older ones always scared me too but this one looks rather safe.

Don't quite get what the problem is with the non stick though.

Dh loves pot roast and stews, etc. I think I will love it. And I am pretty sure in my research last night that it does pre brown, steam and comes with a glass lid so you can use it as a crock pot too.

I have an old one. Not sure what the name is but it's great for cooking artichokes. I cut the bottom of the artichokes off and some of the top. Rinse and add to the pressure cooker with a little bit of water (enough to steam them). When I hear the pressure going I lower the flame and cook for about 15 minute.
Delicious every time.

I have several pressure cookers including a canner and I have been thinking of buying an electric since they are pretty much start and stop...not like the stove top. I love the pressure cooker and cannot understand how any woman could go though life without one...of two or more...LOL I have heard all the horror stories of them exploding blah blah blah but I also know that the experts have taken the modern cooker and tried to force it to explode and were unable to get it to do so...I just think i would like an elec model for the ease of use...

ruthie, I think you'd like it. I was looking for a new slow cooker when I bought my multi function cooker, and I'm finding I pressure cook way more foods than I did using just my stove top cooker/canners. Punch a couple of buttons and it comes to pressure in no time at all - by the time I've put away my seasonings/spices, any knives, bowls into the dishwasher and wiped down the sink, its at pressure and cooking. It turns itself to 'hold warm' when the cooking time you have programmed has finished. You can let it decrease its pressure naturally (it's quick), or turn the dial from pressure to steam with no danger of burning yourself and releasing the pressure all at once.

The Fagor has a silicone gasket, what a dream. I wish all my older canners had that friendly silicone gasket :)

Tonight's supper:
browned turkey on sauté function. Added onions, peppers, corn, rice, water and some seasonings. Put the lid on.
Pushed soup function
Went for a walk.
Took off lid, stirred in some fresh chopped tomatoes.
Ate a delicious one-pot meal.
Wasn't a soup, more like a skillet casserole. (Put some hot sauce on mine)
