My 3 year old grandson came tosee me over the weekend.I said Tyler sweetie pie,he said Im Tyler.I said can grandma have a kiss,he said Not Yet....I waited awhile said can I have a hug now He said

no not Yet..Not sure what we were waiting for.his mom said she thinks he associates that with its time to leave.I did get one then.

I told 4 y o Jackson I was going to take one of the twins (infants) to Tyler w/ me. He said no, I couldn't. I said why not and he said "if you take him to Tyler, he won't be my baby anymore." Needless to say, I left both twins in Midlothian!!

What a beautiful rose Sara. I have always found your roses inspirational but I think any rose growers know it is a challenge. Of all the nurseries I go to, I am the only one crazy enough to buy a bunch of roses. I usually see people buy one or two but not like a cart full of them. I try to avoid their gazing eyes. I am sure they look at me and pitied me..lol Speaking of JB, I may cut all the second wave blooms before they open this year to see if that would deter them a bit. I was advised not to do that by a friend from a botanical garden but I want to experiment with it. He suggested the use of traps but I am conflicted about that.

When I was with my friend Paula and her granddaughter Amy the other day, Paula stopped by a grocery store and ran inside, leaving me and Amy in the car. Amy wriggled between the two front seats to chat with me, absent-mindedly snacking on her grandmother's Dorito chips. I think she only realized it when the bag was empty LOL. We chatted for a few more moments and Amy said, Sylvia? Don't tell Mimi I ate her chips." I agreed. "Mimi" gets back in the car and we drive away. In less than a minute Amy says, "Mimi?" "Yes sweetheart?" "Nobody ate your chips."

I think you are asking the essential question, Ida: WHY do we do this, WHY do we think we look "better"? I used to think how I looked wasn't up to some "standard" - it was really a cultural standard, pushed (and pushed and pushed) by those standing to gain from our insecurities and separating us from our $$$. I think this could go into a very deep discussion of feminist issues, but this probably isn't the place for that. Like why does our culture keep trying to make women feeling insecure, things like why a beauty standard for shoes (high heels), renders women pretty much incapable of fleeing, if needed, as well as ruining their feet - modern day foot binding - for the sake of "shapely calves!! It really makes me sad to think that from the time we are little girls, people are commenting/criticizing our appearance. And that we let some baffoon of a boy (because of his own insecurities) claim power over us by insulting us. Why should we even CARE what he thinks or says? My response (sometimes verbal, sometimes internal): tell it to someone who cares what you think. I also think about what women could do with their time, energy, money and more if the obsession over looks and behavior were eliminated. Sometimes the sheer number of threads here asking about or commenting about methods or products that women discuss which are focused on our looks kind of boggles me. I've stopped commenting on them because I can't ever contribute anything but a plea to think about why we are obsessing over these things. We can, and do have many more interesting things to focus on and share as women.

Mnt, what a fun story and what wonderful daughters you have. Your DH has a quick wit (you’ve passed on other of his quips before). Kswl, such a cool son. I love most of these comments. Even if the kids work around this later on, at least you moms have had dozens of protracted discussions averted. If a kid feels like they have never had any agency, they will be quickly snatched up by a dangerous cult (someone to tell them what to do, think) I heard that on TikTok.

Aren't kids precious? When my DGD was about 3-4, My son showed her how to make an angel in the snow. She looked at the design he made and said "Now make a dog!" That was just one of what the family calls, 'Amberisms'Dottie

It reminds me of DHs grandson when he first came to live with us 5 years ago. He loved fresh corn on the cob and DH can't stand it, so one Saturday when DGS and I were home alone, I fixed some just for us.

DGS says, "So, Grandpa doesn't like corn, huh?" I told him no, he hates it. DGS just looked at me with a stunned look and asked, "Where did you find that guy, anyway? In the woods?" He couldn't understand why I laughed til I nearly peed my pants.

My father tells everyone who will listen that his grandson (when he was 4) told him: Grandpa, one day I pooped so big my butt cracked!

I was there when DS said it, my dad was laughing so hard he was crying and sliding out of the chair. DS just stood looking at him with a serious expression.

My 4 year old DGS, Tate, met a new friend on the first day of Safety Town this summer. Came home and told mom and dad, my new friends name is Olive, he's a boy. They asked, "Are you sure it's not Oliver?" Nope, it's Olive like the food!
Well, turns out it was Oliver, not like the food.

I posted this in the "50 Odd Things" thread too. But I'll share it here as well. Last night I came across a sheet of paper with a little squiggly line on it that brought back a cute memory (IMO). Several years ago I was knitting a pair of slippers for my 4-year old grandson. I had him stand on a sheet of paper and I traced the outline of his foot in order to determine size. I went back to my knitting and my grandson came over to the little table next to my chair, pulled his shorts down, skooched up and put his little peni$ on the paper and drew it's outline and asked, "Grandma, can you make a slipper for this?"

Nobody looking at it would ever guess what that outline was for, but I just can't seem to throw that paper away. It makes me laugh every time I see it.

Save that story, Donna, for the eventual bridal shower for his beloved some day. It will be the highlight of the day!

Kathy, the boys in our old neighborhood told the story of "the boy named Betty." He was on their Little League team and could out hit and out run and out catch anyone on the team. The parents were wondering about this kid and looked forward to their first game to check out a boy who not only was so talented, but was also named "Betty." They were tickled to find out that the "boy named Betty" was actually a girl, but she was so talented an athlete, and so agressively good, that the boys just assumed she was "a boy named Betty."

Had DGD (who just turned 8) add dishwashing liquid to my grocery list. She wrote DW Lickwood...........ROFKMBO

If it had been her older DSM she would have spent 10 minutes looking it up to make sure it was spelled correctly! This one could give a good rip! LOL

I love all these cute kid stories.

Last summer we were invited for supper at DH's cousins house. When we arrived the men were outside so I headed inside. I was met at the door by their little redheaded 5 year old daughter Sadie and her hefty little Terrier. As I stepped inside I said, "Sadie, who's that little fat girl?" She said, "Oh that's just my Mommy." LOL After her Mommy and I got through laughing and wiping tears I told Sadie that I was referring to her dog! LOL
