Do I have too...I don't wanna...Not happening....Capris...

Exactly, I don't wanna hide my capris in the closet...only because the calendar says it's time..no, not yet! Can anyone afford or find gas to drive to the beach just to wear them and what do you mean....it's after Labor Day and I can't wear....whatever!

when do you say...the season has ended for this or that..and pack it up or move it to the other side of "his" closet!

I used to have two sides of the closet, but the past few years we've had summer like days in December as well as winter temperatures in May, so everything is within easy reach. Heck, if I want to, I'll continue to wear my white Birkenstock sandals.

:) at Linda. I wear white, red, and an assortment of Birkenstock sandals year round (but with warm heavy socks in the winter).

Whatever I wear, is in season as far as I am concerned. ;)

This one was on the table at a book club potluck last week. Everyone raved and wanted the recipe. I'm going to cross post in new recipes. Zucchini Pickles - Heidi Swanson, 100 Cookbooks There are quite a number of ways to play around with the personality of these pickles. Sometimes I shave the zucchini paper-thin, resulting in a whispy tangle of pickled zucchini and onions. Other times I want my pickles to have a bit more bite, structure, and definition. In those instances, I slice the zucchini thicker, perhaps 1/8-inch, and let them drain as long as possible, sometimes overnight refrigerated. Also worth noting, when I make them for our personal condiment stash, I used a brown natural cane sugar. It gives the pickle liquid a brownish cast that, quite frankly, weirds people out if they don't know what is causing it. So, if I'm making the pickles to bring to a BBQ or something, I'll make them with regular organic cane sugar - one that is lighter in color.  3 medium zucchini (1 pound / 16 oz / 450 g), thinly sliced  1 medium white onion, thinly sliced  3 shallots, thinly sliced 1 1/2 tablespoons fine grain sea salt  1/4 cup (small handful) fresh dill sprigs 1 small fresh red chile pepper, very thinly sliced 1/2 tablespoon yellow mustard seeds 3/4 cup / 180 ml cider vinegar  3/4 cup / 180 ml white wine vinegar  1/3 cup / 1.75 oz / 50g natural cane sugar  Toss the zucchini, onion, shallots, and salt together in a colander and place over a bowl to catch the liquids. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least a couple hours. Toss once or twice along the way. You're aiming to get as much liquid out of the zucchini as possible.  When you're finished draining the zucchini, shake off any water. At this point you want the zucchini as dry as possible. Place in a 1 liter / 1 quart jar along with the dill, chile pepper, and mustard seeds. Alternately, you can cram them into a 3/4 liter Weck jar like I do, but it's always a bit snug in the jar. Combine the ciders and sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a simmer, stirring until the sugar dissolves, and continue to boil for a few minutes. Pour the liquid over the zucchini and seal the jar. Let cool, then refrigerate. The pickles are good for a week or so.   Makes one large jar. My old Boxer having siezures - I don't know what to do

I have an 8 year old Boxer, Millie, that had her first seizure just over a year ago. It was long and violent and tortuous to watch lasting well over 3 minutes. I immediately took her to the vet and he started her on Phenobarbital and Valium. She had several more smaller ones until the levels were where they needed to be. In the year since she's had dozens, some worse than others, and we've added Potassium Bromide to the mix. She continues to have small focal seizures lasting a few seconds almost daily. She was hospitalized last month with Pancreatitis. While there she had one larger and one smaller seizure. Since she's come home she seems to be deteriorating. She sleeps most of the days away. She has difficulty walking, stumbles or falls when she stands still for more than a few seconds, bumps into things and has fallen down the stairs. She seems to be losing control or strength in her hind legs. Last night she fell asleep at my feet and then couldn't stand or walk for a couple of minutes when she woke. This morning, on the other hand, she came as close to running as she has in a while to go outside and potty and play for a moment. It was brief. She's eating well, looks and sounds a good as ever which makes it that much harder to wonder "How much is enough for her?" I guess that's what I'm looking for, advice on "enough". She is our absolute favorite person in the world and is loved beyond measure. As terrified as I am about her leaving us, I am more afraid that she's suffering as she is. I've never had to even consider this for a pet so I'm lost to the rationale of it. How do you know when they've had enough?

I think I gave some flats too much drainage or ventilation slits....it seems like I have to water them almost every day, what can I do? This is an easy fix! I never put more than five or six drainage slits in a flat, but even so that might sometimes be too much. So to fix that I pick up the flat and dry its bottom off with a paper towel, then I take a piece of duct tape or white bandage tape and simply tape over a couple of the drainage holes. The tape does a great job of sealing the slits enough that the excess drainage is slowed down. If you've put too many slits or holes in the cover for air transpiration you could tape some over with clear packing tape, or even easier, just toss out that cover and make new one. How do I make a new cover? Take your flat and slip it into a baggie or ziploc bag. Close the baggie with a twist tie or knot. Take a paring knife and make a few slits in the bottom for drainage and make some slits in the top for air transpiration too. I also use recipes interchangeably and haven't found a recipe that doesn't work both in the bread machine and by hand, as I only use the machine for kneading and then shape and bake in the oven. Everything from Grandma's old Farmhouse White to cinnamon rolls to whole wheat and rye loaves, they all work fine both by hand and in the machine. I agree that you need some more liquid/water in that hard to handle dough. I always check the machine and add more liquid if needed, I'd rather have a bit too much than not enough, I can always knead in a bit more flour if necessary. As plllog mentioned, you can add vital wheat gluten to the rye loaves for a bit more "oomph", rye flour is lower in gluten than wheat flour is. Bread is actually very forgiving, and I mess with it at whim. I want big holes I add more water, a dense loaf needs more flour, a tender loaf wants some milk and eggs, and I go by the way the dough "feels" more than anything. The only thing I've been unsuccessful at is a 100% whole wheat loaf with my own home ground flour. The results were consistent, they were all horrible. I finally just stopped, nothing helped that stuff and although I still grind wheat for flour, I use some of my own flour and some King Arthur flour for a passable loaf. Annie

I'm like Linda. I keep both in my closet. I also wear whatever I want. I'm still wearing Capris and sandals because it's been in the 80's last week and this. I DO NOT want to give into Winter any sooner than I have to.

My wardrobe is basically the same year round...I might break out a sweatshirt if it's a bit chilly in the winter but not often.Since I moved to El Paso...I wear shorts,capris and jeans all yeaar.So funny...we go to the store and everyone has HEAVY winter coats on and there's me and Larry in jeans and a T-shirt..We aren't cold in 50 or 60 degree weaather,our bodies are still used to PA weaather! 50 or 60 isn't "cold"...

I don't know who the "they" is as in "they" say. I have on capris right now and I'm taking a friend to lunch. If it's in my closet, and it fits, it's in style. I don't have the time or inclination to pay any attention to "what's in style" That is so silly. Wear what you like and what does it matter what anybody else thinks?

I've gotten to the point....if it isn't worn out and it still fits...I wear it..It's either that or I wouldn't have anything to wear.....I'd have to go without...and I don't think this world's ready to see that...

Ditto what the people above me have said. If it's clean & fits, it goes on my body. My mother said if you put on a little lipstick, nearly anything looks and feels good. :)

I live in S.Calif,so anything goes at any time.I wear whatever the temperature of the day dictates,and if someone doesn't like it,they don't have to look.LOL,LOL.

You can put your Old Rusty Bucket in whatever makes you happy. If you go by what's "in style" you will have your belly hanging out and your britches will be slung so low your undies will show. If I were to wear fall clothes now just because the calendar says so I would burn up. Too hot here for that.

I've already put away all my shorts and capris. I love cold weather clothing-all those nice warm sweaters. Don't cry, my summer clothes will be back next spring!

I wear shorts all year round. It gets cold here in North Florida but I still wear shorts in the house. I hate wearing long pants!!!....and shoes!!!!

I think "they" are the ones that want my money in their pocket, Nope, not me, I wear what I want, when I want. Color doesn't matter, and here in the Dallas area its never to cold.

It is funny though, to watch people, when I worked at WalMart if we got a slightly chilly day, you'd see everything from shorts and tank tops to parkas!
