Very very uncomfortable, especially on side I fell with pulled ligament.

Gone from ice to heating pad, but as doc said will take about 6 weeks.

Tried to drive to get me something to take home to eat!

Made it, just down the road, but driving was scary.

I definitely plan to file a claim against them.

As doctor said, wait until I get the medical bills, etc.

They did file an incident report and I have a copy.

Not fun!

DS has called couple times, but being as GS has chicken pox, no one from his home needs to come. Shingles fear :o(

Glenda, I hope you continue to improve, and rapidly at that! I think we retirees are very leery of falling, but those wet spots just appear sometimes! I have twice rolled out of bed onto the floor in the middle of the night, and found it very hard to get up, considering I have two knee replacements. But since I was the only one here, I just had to get up. (Very careful about the edge of the bed now.)

I'm glad you got your ac fixed so you can be comfortable, and I'm glad we are not in the path of Gustav!

I learned, today, about sliding out of bed. Ouchie!

Have to roll over, sit up and slide down the bed. Lesson learned :o(

Thank you, everyone! I might get started on them soon. I have other garden chores, to do, too. Mainly pruning and pulling out dead annuals/veggie plants, but the ground is still pretty frozen for the latter chore. It's overcast today, with some rain this morning, so maybe the ground will soften up in the next few weeks. I have amaranthus seeds I aquired in trades, but they aren't labeled what kind. One just says "Amaranthus" and the other says "Red Amaranthus" with some growing info. Just yesterday, I bought two packs of Scabiosa "Summer Berries" and "Old Spice" and "Mammoth Mix" Sweet Peas. Ezzirah, It isn't right but the stores do it and they always have to some extent in the last couple of decades, although I think it has been much worse the last 5 or 10 years than it used to be. Gardeners often are impulse buyers---getting excited and all ready to start the season too early, buying plants or seeds merely because of outrageous claims that cannot be verified and that sound too good to be true, buying herbicides, fertilizers or pesticides that promise dream results, etc. Retailers take advantage of that. As gardeners, it is our responsibility to ignore the hype and to educate ourselves before we spend money on plants, seed and products. Last year I saw 6-packs of sugar snap peas (fresh shipments, not old ones) on the shelves at some local stores in late May and early June. How many new, unsuspecting gardeners bought them and took them home only to have the heat and disease kill the cool-season plants 2 or 3 weeks after they were purchased when the warm-season was well under way? It is just as wrong for the stores to sell cool-season plants in latest spring or early summer as it is for them to sell cool-season plants a month, 2 or 3 before their correct planting time. Will it ever change? Only if educated gardeners stop buying the plants too early, having them freeze and then replacing them. (That's a win-win situation for the stores 'cause they sell twice as many plants.) Stores are going to give gardeners what they want, and if people are requesting warm-season plants in January and February, the commercial growers and the retail stores are going to do their best to fulfill those requests because they know if they don't have the plants people want when they want them, those people will take their business elsewhere. That is just how things are now, and unfortunately it puts nursery growers in an awkward position where they are growing and selling plants too early, even though they know better. Back in the olden days when I was a kid in the 1960s, you didn't even have to know what to plant when because the nurseries didn't get the plants in too early. So, if you walked into a store and saw onion plants or bundles of cabbage plants (they were young plants sold in bare root bundles that you had to take home and plant right away), etc., you knew it was time to buy them, take them home and plant them. The local stores wouldn't have tomato plants in the stores until maybe a week or 10-days before your local recommended planting times. It made it easy for inexperienced gardeners to learn the order in which plants went into the ground since it wasn't possible to buy plants too early, plant them too early and lose them to frost. Nowadays, in the stores, pretty much anything goes, and that can cost inexperienced gardeners a lot of money. Also back in the olden days of the 1960s through as late as the 1980s, most plants bought in stores were very small. My dad used to buy tomato plants in little pots that were maybe 1.5" x 1.5" in the 1960s and 1970s and when I started buying tomato plants on my own in the 1980s, they were available in either small six-packs or 2" x 2" pots. The larger plants in 3", 4" or even 5" or 6" pots slowly became available beginning in the 1990s. Now, in the 2000s, people can walk into stores and, if they are willing to spend $20.00 or more, they can buy tomato plants in 3 to 5 gallon pots in about May and those plants will be in full bloom and have half-grown fruit on them. I'm thinking that people willing to pay that much for one tomato plant will be eating some mightly expensive home-grown tomatoes! Retail has turned into a very regimented, calendar-oriented industry that puts product of all kinds in stores well before we should be buying them. Who needs to buy a bathing suit in January or kids pool toys in February? Do we really need to buy Easter candy the day after Valentine's Day? How about school supplies being in stores around the Fourth of July? Christmas decorations in September? I hate the way the stores rush the seasons in all areas, not just in gardening. Dawn

Actually, I am prepared to buy the wife a fancy, dancy sewing machine, to make me some shirts, but she is hedging due to time. I can find fabric, just not finished goods. Pants I can find.....if I want khaki, or jeans. Not much else. Of course, they keep cutting them smaller, so I keep having to increase the size, despite the fact my belt fits the exact same hole as always. The other issue, is they use nylon zippers in pants now. How stupid is that? Might be ok for a dress, but doesn't hold up at all in men's pants. Nope. I ain't getting into any more businesses, whatsoever. Too old, and more than ready to retire. If the idiots in the fashion industry can't recognize their problems, then clothes will just have to be left on the rack. Oh yeah.....used to have to take extreme measures to make garments look good in fashion......including cutting the back of women's tops, so they would hang right in the front. (grin) If you knew all the tricks and manipulations used in photographing this stuff, you would be pretty surprised. Even with beaded and sequined gowns......we used a whole lot of pinning and clipping, to "adjust" garments. The stylist was the most important person on the team. I am glad, there are no broken bones, but at your age, even without breakage, healing takes a while.

I'm sorry you're feeling so sore. Thank goodness you didn't break anything. Wish some of us could just come and take care of you! Please be extra careful about going out. Do you have any friends from church who could bring you in some meals? You are in my thoughts.

Never fear, Glenda, Moni just means "anyone over 16."

Don't sign any final settlement papers too soon, Glenda. Remember, unless the statute of limitations is quite different where you live, you should have one year to file a lawsuit, should that be necessary.

If you are going to file a suit, try to keep a daily journal of how you feel and all the things you need to do and can't, because of the pain.

I think you should consider it too.

Hopefully you will see some improvement in a week or so. It takes a while with ligaments.

I tore ligaments in my hip in High School - I felt pain in my hip for 10 years! I finally bought a new mattress and the pain disappeared - I am sure you have a good set. I bet that will help in your recovery.

One of the things that really bothered my hip injury later in life was when I was pregnant - LOL! Just think, you won't have that trouble :)

Ummmm, ya better not mention the D-word (driving) again. You think Moni's "at your age" comment hurt... just wait until you hear what some people want to do to "elderly" drivers!

Glenda - keep a daily diary of your limitations - things you have trouble with, how much sleep you are getting/not getting. Write down anything and everything that is affected in your daily life from this fall. Including you driving ability - if you have to have stuff delivered - keep all recipes and circle the delivery charges. Even your mood for the day - are you depressed after falling? Lawyers love this information if you want to make any claim.

I'm so sorry to hear about this accident. It only takes a small drop of water on some floor surfaces to slip on.

Please take care and keep as much of a record/diary as possible. I learned this when I was hit by a car years ago from a friend who was in a bus accident.

Glenda, if you haven't yet gotten the shingles vaccination, be sure to do that soon. It is recommended for anyone over 60.
Ask a friend to bring you a supply of microwave food. I did that after I had surgery on my arm. Also, if you have places that deliver, order out.

Glenda, when Wal-Mart finds out what a big audience you have on the KT, they'll be glad to pay off anything you ask for. They don't want you bad-mouthing them through cyber space!!!! No kidding, I think they'll be generous w/ you--they have really good insurance. Take care, and no, you're not old!!! Get a stack of books to read and some frozen dinners.

Glenda, I hope you have had a shingles shot. I just got a letter from my insurance company telling me everyone 60 and over should have one.
I hope you hear up quickly, I'm sure WalMart will pay all of your medical bills.

Ditto on Joan's comment about the Shingle's vaccination.
I'm surprised they have you on heat instead of ice, but regardless,
I'd ask if it is OK to take an OC anti-inflammatory - like Advil or Alleve.

You may not get much progress for a couple of weeks, so practice patience on this one. Since you are active with water aerobics, you are in a better situation for healing than someone who is sedentary.

Can someone other than DS bring you supplies?

I am taking DaPro an anti inflammatory.

WalMart called this morning, gave me the CLAIM number and 1-800 number for when I am ready to file. Said CMI is on that handles WM claims!

I know Moni wasn't calling me really OLD :o)

Glenda even at 49 I am still hobbling around after missing the last step a month ago. Hope you feel better soon. A sugestion ....Meals on Wheels or Moms Meals for a short time, my clients say they are not bad and they are well balanced though a little bland, they can be DR up a bit for extra zing. You can find what agency delivers them in your area by calling 188-677-1116 Blessings.

Glenda, that was for ANYONE over 29! :)

Sorry, didn't mean to hurt feelings. When Jerry crashed while bike riding last year, it took him over six weeks to get over the muscle soreness. He was also lucky not to have broken bones.

Like you, he is over 29.
