2 more X'd off the list

Flowers are done! Heather and I finished the bouquets! Worked about 3 1/2 or 4 hours to finish up. We had done most of the coresages, and boutineerss a few weeks ago. She did the last 6 or 8 herself.

She printed the programs last Friday and got them folded tonight after I left.

Connie, It is so nice to get those things crossed off.

Our DD has been married 12 years next week, and I remember all the work. We also did EVERYTHING ourselves. We did save a ton of $$$!

Remember to stop and take a breath now and then!

Sharon;Wheres a picture of your Black cat? Bobbert? You know,Snoopy was so skinny and dirty,I didn't even know she was my cat when she came back to my door after being gone for 3 weeks,I stood there looking at her, asking her who is she,and where did she come from,and she kept looking at me with a very low Meow,Then I kept asking her if she is snoopy,and her meow got louder, then I knew it WAS my cat returned home. so I opened my door and let her in and she went straight to where her food dish and water is kept. nat4b;;I am so sorry you have lost your cat,and sorry my story made you so sad.It will get better soon. KAY, Thank you for the nice comments.I lost a bunch of roses due to some critter making tunnels in my rose bed and ate all the roots off them.I lost a HUGE rose I was so proud of, it was huge, but at least,I rooted another one off it, so I still have one growing, much smaller, but, it will grow,if it aint ate up again. SARAH, the mulch is shredded cypress mulch.It was so cheap till I wanted to try some of it,I ran out and have to get some more soon, and the sale is over now. RITA, Thank you for them nice comments.I have worked very hard in the yard lately spreading that mulch and pulling weeds out first.But, my yard don't hold a candle to yours in beauty.Your gardens pictures should be in a garden magazine as your gardens are fantastic.I had to keep stopping and go rest for a little while, then go back to it again, with one daughter fussing at me, that I was over doing it and need to rest.I told her when I am finished with what I am trying to get done, then I will rest awhile. CINDYJUDY, You grow clematis by seed the same as anything else. sprinkle the seeds in some potting soil like I do, or a seed mix, then cover the seeds slightly,and keep watered.They do not sprout as fast as other seeds do, so have to be patient.I had some seed came up after 2 weeks,and some didnt come up for nearly a year. Sorry I'm just catching back up on this thread. Our inspection went great. They said our house was in exceptional condition for its age...funny, I don't think of a 20 year old home to be old, especially here in New England! The only issue was the mold in the attic, which we knew about, thank goodness. We received several quotes before the inspection for the remediation and also contacted the company who installed our roof. We are taking care of having the mold remediated, but first we are having ridge vent installed and the gable vents closed up. The fans will then be exhausted directly out the side of the house on the gable end. All told, this should cost us $3k. I'd rather have it done beforehand rather than giving a credit at closing.

My son met his dad for the first time when he was 18. He's 19 now and still getting to know him through phone calls. I guess it might be a bit easier than if he had, at one time, had any sort of relationship with him. After all, he is a virtual stranger and they are starting from square one. However, there is still the fact that his dad stayed gone for 18 years and denied being his dad, so they have to work out that for themselves. I'm here for my son when he wants to talk and he's had me call his dad to say things he isn't comfortable telling him. (like just before Christmas, his dad wanted to come meet him for lunch but my son's car had broken down and he had no way to drive 30 miles to the meeting place. He wanted me to call his dad to ask him to come all the way to our town to meet him. He was not sure if his dad would say no... and he did try to cancel the lunch altogether until I told him how much my son was looking forward to seeing him) But, I try to stay out of it and just be here for my son and take my cues from him. My daughter also met her dad after several years, she was 12 the first time they met. They talked a few times and he disappeared again until she was 17. He's tried for the last year to call her and open up a relationship but she is resistant. She decided that since he lied to her so many times since she was 12, she can't trust him and wants nothing to do with him. She even had her name legally changed when she turned 18 to get rid of his last name. Well, yesterday my phone rang. I didn't get to it in time and then her phone rang. It was him and she got really upset when she answered and heard his voice. She doesn't want to talk to him and I can understand her fear of being hurt again. I talked to her about expectations and disappointment and it kinda helped. She needs to sort out her feelings and again, I am here for her when she asks me and when I can tell she needs me. It's a touchy issue and when they are adult age, it's not the same as when they are 5 or 6 and you can encourage them to talk. When they have gotten old enough to figure out their parent made choices to leave or stay gone, that's for the other parent to work out with them. Sadly, my son's dad has tried to throw the blame at me, saying I lied to him and didn't let him see him, etc. My son is 19 and was 18 when his dad said in open court, with my son there, that he is not his father and should not have to take a DNA test since he is already 18. The court ordered the test and we got the results back in September... went to court in November but the ruling was taken under submission and we didn't get the final ruling until January of the next year. Two days after we got the ruling, his dad finally called to speak to him for the first time. The fact that he had the DNA results 4 months before calling him, did not escape my son. A small child may not put it together but at 18, it isn't hard to figure out. He only shoots himself in the foot when he tries to shift blame to me instead of apologizing for his behavior. I really feel for you SD but you have to let them work it out and just be a shoulder to cry on and/or an ear to listen. It's hard.

We’ve just returned from a trip to Nashville. We were there two years ago for a medical seminar, but spent the majority of time inside the incredible, gorgeous Gaylord Opryland Resort. This time, we rented a house through AirBnB in the Edgehill neighborhood of Nashville. Although we love Country music and very much enjoyed our tour of the Grand Ole Opry, had great meals out, and saw the beautiful surrounding towns of Franklin, etc., overall it was just so congested everywhere! The roads, the entire downtown area, seemed so crowded, just as it was when we were there last. The majority of the homes in the. Nashville area seem to be without garages, which may be fine for the area but as a result, every street ( in both business and residential areas) was lined on both sides with bumper to bumper parked cars. Thank goodness DH can parallel park or we would have been in serious trouble (LOL)! We did end up driving 3 hours to Knoxville one day, which is a lovely city. If we’d had more time we would have loved to have spent some time in Asheville. In retrospect, I’m glad we went, but any future trips to Nashville will be to the Gaylord, with hired drivers dropping us off to see anything.

(don't worry I am realistic enough to know not everything goes as planned)

Oh I can cross "get perm" off my list. I did that last Friday! LOL

Heather found out we have a snag with the reception place, they have something going on the night before the wedding, so somehow its got to have tables set up etc on Saturday now instead of Friday afternoon or night! Grrr.... Heather told Justin he can take the groomsmen down and do it, but she KNOWS there's gotta be a woman there! LOLOL

I sure wish you guys would come and help with the food! The menu was planned and RE-planned and RE-planned again. Its about as simple as we can possibly get it. It still takes time to do and both SisIL's have offered to help and a GF will too. But you know me, I can't keep my hands out of it.

Isn't nice to get a few more things crossed off the list? We just had the bridal shower last week end. I just piad for and finished up the details of the rehersal dinner. It's at a Hawaiian restaraunt and DIL wants us all to dress accordingly! I have to get the lei's still. She is having a "wine" night for all the girls and mom's to come over and eat, drink wine and wrap the table favors for the reception. I think we should wrap first and drink later, LOL, I've seen how fast the bottles empty with these girls! DH says he's not renting a suit...going to buy one this time, so we still have to shop for that. DIL is wrapping things up so nicely, very efficient! I am making the ring bearers pillow and still have to get the stuff I need for that. Other than that I'm done with my part! Of course if she needs help with anything else I'm there. Her mom made the invitations and hosted the shower with her little sister. Her grandma make the flower girl basket but we have no flower girl!
