the worst part was when they talked graphically about the ingredient in the infamous chocolate pie! oh, a bloody scene having to do with the miscarriage in the bathroom........

Vannie, I saw it yesterday. The miscarriage scene was really short and I would bet she has seen more blood on TV than what this movie had. I think since she is pretty mature for her age that she would enjoy the movie. There are some swear words but I don't remember any "F" words.

According to the reviews, it shows the relationship between blacks and whites in the US in the 60's very seriously. Maybe not for kids, unless they are mature. I would take a girl but probably not a boy. Just my opinion. I haven't seen it. I'm waiting to get the book from my library. (The ads make it look like a comedy.)

nita - i was just thinking the bathroom scene might illicit questions that vannie might not want to be the one to educate her about that topic. as for the other.......the "eat my s--t" might be a bit strong for an 11 yr old. she has surely heard the word but that sentence was used repeatedly and was pretty gross even though i am an adult who is certainly not a prude!.........lol. i just thought i would lay it out there since she asked. it might not bother her at all...........

Vannie, maybe you should go to the movie and then make the decision as to weather you want to take her to see it. Then when it comes out on DVD you could rent it and watch it together.

Well, actually, I carried her up to the gym at the hospital today and she wore me out. She's really too young to be there, but they all know me, and it wasn't very crowded, and I told them I'd only let her do the recumbent bike. We walked the skywalk, and watched a helicopter land and unload a patient, so between that, and church and lunch, I guess I've entertained her for the day. LOL Thanks for the advice!
