Time Traveler's Wife.......

Several peeps here mentioned that they were going to see the movie, but I haven't read any reviews. I loved the book and was wondering if the movie was any good.

I would love to hear what you thought about the movie.

Hi maryann....My DH and I saw this last week, and we LOVED it. My sister read the book and said the story was great. I did not read the book, so I had nothing to compare it to, but we thought it was a very good movie.

OK, I'm back shortly. Mark, Paph schoseri is one I couldn't get for blood nor money, unless I paid a lot of money, when I was collecting species. I maybe saw it available twice, for wads of cash. This guy is little, but way stupid cheap, and I figured why not. I don't think it's a jacked-up hard to bloom thing (and I've dealt with those). Too much on-topic. Joaquin is a fantastic kitten-child and makes me very happy. The bitey thing is going away as he grows up. He retains his spotted gorgeousness. He's ever so smart (I refrained from swearing here so as not to get tossed off the forum, but really...). And not to be too off-topic on-topic (that kid of mine), what are we reading lately? I could start a new thread, but I don't wanna. I'm reading 'Tieta' by Jorge Almado, and not being thrilled by it-a bit ponderous and too many interruptions by the author to drop in his comments...I don't know. I'm liking the story but not the telling, and it may just be the translation. I had a lovely break in the tale with the 'Brokeback Mountain' short story (borrowed for a friend from a friend, and of course I read it first). A dandy story. You should probably all know that I get drunk and loaded (some of you may know what the loaded part is about, aside from the drunk) before these little sillinesses get written out. Chemicals happen. It's not always a bad thing. In fact, sometimes it's pretty good. At any rate... I'm off. Love you kids. -O-

Oh, yeah, the e-readers are great for travel (though last year I brought Team of Rivals and another big book on Lincoln as Commander in Chief on drive to Gettysburg). Just hard to read some things on them - Autobiography of Mark Twain was one but I struggled through it since it was so huge I didn't want 10-lb book on my lap. The Quantum Universe e-book just never made it too far though I checked it out twice, so I just picked it up in hardcover Friday (along with The Ghost Map that I saw another GWer recommend). Finishing Fast Food Nation now.

Abundant blessings, thank you for the other recommendations. I will definitely read Destined to Witness. Deedee- I crave simple, feel good stories so thanks! Carriem, Will look for art of racing, I have read the Outlander and Clan books....but I think I'm too old for bodice rippers (or is it pelts?) anymore. I've become a cynical, jaded romantic. I really liked Major Pettigrew's Last Stand- that's my kind of romance these days. Oakly, I like Jeffery Archer too but haven't read any in a long time. I did listen to some of his recent works last year though and liked the one about the newspaper publishers. Hhireno, It has only been a few years since I read for the first time(listened actually) To a Tree Grows In Brooklyn. It was good but also sad though I'm finally glad I know it now as it's classic. I don't do sad books often..it's just too hard. Will put your others on my list. Iread, I have heard about the Piano Tuner, thanks for the reminder. I have read Shadow of the Wind but am the only person on the planet who didn't like it. Will look for the others! Thanks! Yogacat, I have read Suite-FranÃÂ§aise when it was hot a year or so ago. It was interesting and of course, sad.

I rented it last night. I liked it but it is a bit hard to keep up with. I will watch it again, just to figure it out. Kinda like the lake house, I just can't keep that one straight in my head.

I'm looking forward to seeing it and it's good to see these reviews. I was thinking of seeing it this weekend.

Please - no more spoilers about the ending! Does knowing that it doesn't last ("I love you see you later") give much away? I'm a little less enthused now because it seems I know the way it turns out.

I love you see you later,has nothing to do with the ending. You will see what I mean when u see the movie.

I loved it, but I tend to like that type of movie, I also loved (older movie)Hallmark's "Love Letters" and "The Lakehouse" which didn't get good reviews here. I think it's the type of movie that I would enjoy watching a number of times to pick up little bits I missed the first time.

Haven't seen it yet. I loved the book but DH refuses to accompany me. It got bad revIerws in all three of our local papers. Maybe this weekend I'll have time and will go bY myself.

I loved The Lake House and Somewhere in Time.

I said last post, saw it as before it was released...not impressed. I saw flaws in the whole time travel thing, and that bugged me! Not the time travel part, but it seemed he at first could only travel in his own time then he travelled out of his time, he could control where he travelled, he couldn't control it...I just didn't get it. And was it about him not her, or so it seemed to me. Okay I guess I just really didn't get it. Tent it when it comes out on DVD.

A friend at work wants to go see this tonight after she gets off work. Not sure I'll be going. Got invited to see Julie/Julia too earlier in the evening...both in Lexington...so we'll see. I guess if I'm still there I can see the other movie too.

I'm really struggling with the book. I'm about half way through it and find it to be a little on the boring side. Almost like when you are waiting in the doctor's office and reading something that you really don't have any interest in reading but, there's nothing else to read. I'm going to finish it though because I've had at least 3 people tell me it gets better. I probably won't see the movie. We'll see.
