Funny you should ask. I just got back from my monthly shopping trip to town. Did I tell you I hate going to town? Anyway, my prescriptions weren't ready at WalMart so I ran over to Sally's for some pedicure supplies and found their version of the pediegg. They advertised it as the one "as seen on TV with a handle." I haven't tried it yet, but if it works a well as yours I'll be a happy camper. I also picked up some stuff to rub on to soften up the tough hide. (I didn't have this problem 'til I retired and started going barefoot all the time.) Anyone else try it?

I have a Ped Egg and I just love it. One word of caution: Don't use it too often or the tender skin on your heels will be sore and may even crack. It's tempting to use it alot and really get down to smooth skin but beware. I do mine when I change my toenail polish so about once a month. My feet have never felt smoother or softer. Enjoy!

My DH bought one- he uses it all the time and loves it! I have not tried it yet....

I loved mine, too, each time I used it. But I found that as the skin started to grow it was very rough. Of course it is, because the PedEgg is simply like a cheese grater. It is grating the skin, only on a much finer level. When it grows it's just all the ends of the grated skin growing out and it's rougher than before. However, it's great if you keep up with it so that your feet are always freshly "egged". After a short while the novelty wore off for me. I guess I should get back at it; my feet are a mess!

It works well. Suzieque, try using the sandpaper that comes with the "egg" to get off the final rough ends. It works best when your feet are very dry. I don't know why it doesn't remove fresh skin, but it does not. I think I read it was not recommended for diabetic people, though. That's good to know.

Don't use it right after your shower. Your foot should feel very dry, not soft from the shower. You do have to use the sandpaper after you are done or your foot will not be smooth. Or use a foot emory smoother.

I ordered one when they first came out...Love it!!! I HATE shoes...so my feet aren't pretty! lol I use it about every 2 weeks....after I shower I put a little bit of baby lotion on my heals and elbows...seems to help me.

I was thinking it would be great to use a "never used on feet" as a microplane for lemon rind or Parmesan cheese.

Ok, I use one of those metal-like grater-looking stick things from the dollar store that really work pretty well. To me it 'appears' to be the same thing as a PediEgg just in a different shape... Are those generally the same thing or are PediEggs way better?

I've had one about a year. I love it, but it is made to be used on dry feet as opposed to when you just get out of the shower.

I use mine out of the shower..just don't go at it!!...just a light "brush" over...my husband has the one with a longer handle and loves it.

I'm really not into gizmos advertised on television, but ... I love my Ped Egg!

It works best for me if I use it gently on dry feet at bedtime, then slather on some cocoa butter cream I got at Sally.

When I first got it, I used it a little bit every other day until my calluses were flattened and heels were smoothed. Now once a week is enough for maintenance.

The best price I've found was the local Bed Bath & Beyond with the monthly 20% off coupon - $8. (The TV two for one offer has you pay extra shipping for the second one.)

i got mine at Wal-marts in the as seen on tv section. I think the directions said, use on dry feet. And you should use the sandpaper part. I do it at bedtime then after, slather on vaseline and put on a pair of old socks and it works great.

Being diabetic, it has been suggested not to use this product on my feet, but like Carol in CA, I thought one might be a good zester for orange/lemon/lime rinds. Dottie

Dottie, that's right. If you have diabetes you should not use this or anything sharp to groom your feet.

Chisue, for one thing- it catches all the 'gratings' in the little cup. lol Otherwise, I wouldn't let anyone grate their feet in the house, ick.

We love our egg, I need to get another one, this one is about worn out although it's still works. I know they sell refills for them, so I'll be looking for them.

I asked my dermatologist about the best way to deal with calluses on your feet. She said, don't cut them or use a Pedegg. Instead, take a bath or shower, twel dry your feet, then slather on any good noisturizing creaM, put on a pair of socks and wear them overnight. Your feet will be beautifully soft in the morning.

Jannie, that is a nice thing to do for your tootsies, but won't get rid of calluses.

Flamingo, the Ped Egg does not catch all the shavings. Some spill out as you work. So work over the tub or something.

Difference between Ped Egg and pumice stone? You use a pumice stone when your feet are wet. You have to work a lot harder to get a heavy callus off than you do with the Ped Egg.

I suppose there is some risk to using the Ped Egg. But it seems not to cut tender skin, just the tough stuff.

Socks, if you hold the egg so the "grater" is always pointing up, I'd say 99% of the stuff goes into the cup. You should see some of the contortions I go thru to make that happen. lol

I did get carried away with it a few times at first and limped around with sore, raw heels for a few days. That was when the egg was brand new, though, and really sharp. Now I think I could grate for an hour and never get to that point.

I wish we had a CVS here, but I know I've seen the refills somewhere. I'll find 'em!

You are not missing much by not having a CVS. Just a standard drugstore with not much in the way of bargains.

CVS sounds a lot like Walgreens. I know in FL, there was either one or the other on every corner. Did Walgreens buy them out? Sounds familiar....

Up here in AR, we just have Walgreens and a lot of independantly owned drug stores. I like those, they carry neat stuff. lol

We have Walgreens up here in Nebraska too. But when we were in Arizona a couple of winters ago, they had CVS all over like Walgreens do up here.

Paul Begouin's secret to never having dry heels again

Get a jar pf Stridex pads ~~ yes, the kind for acne. It ias 2% Salicylic Acid in it. Rub that on your heals and then use Cocoa Butter or Vaseline and put on socks before bed. After 2 weeks you will have soft heels. Living in Hawaii and usually going barefoot I am trying this and it is helping!

I'm the first responder to this post. Just bought a "look alike" that day but had not tried it out. I tried it this weekend and I love it. I can see where you might have a problem overdoing it but I was able to take quite a bit of old dead skin off the first time and the improvement is remarkable. One more session and I think I will be at the maintenance level. This is great.

I have some lotion, not sure of the brand, The older bottle was made by Dr. Scholls (sp?) You rub in the lotion, best after a shower when skin is soft, and the dead skin rolls off in clumps. It's very gentle and really works well. It's made for removing dead skin from feet, I think s called Pediacure, but I am sure there are many brands.
