I'm so happy that you're happy, Rosemary. I have to admit I just loved your pink house, but then, I didn't have to pay the upkeep on it. You're new home is really comfortable looking. I would absolutely just live on that sun porch.

I can't get over the perfect condition the house is in. The tiles look pristine, no black mold or anything. I can relate to the coloured fixtures....the bathtub here is the soft green, and the apt that we had before had the harvest gold.

I really love the sunroom - what a great space.

No flooding here! Yes, the lake is part of our property. Our neighbors have paddle boats and canoes and little john boats. The water is part of Lake Whitehurst, which supplies the city's fresh water system.

It does NOT flood, because there's a spillway about a mile up the canal.

I have always dreamt of living on the water, and now I do. today is a happy, happy day!

Wow that's a nice place, love the vintage look of the inside...our house was built in 1959 so it looks about the same only smaller. Your kitchen is almost exactly like mine...only bigger...HA! I love the coziness of the older homes and I wouldn't change a thing! I know many people are tearing out those older kitchens and bathrooms but I wouldn't! It destroys the charm if you ask me! My favorite part is the pond though! ENVY!!!!!!!!!!

Actually you should send pictures of everything - it's as nice as any of the 'preserved' mid-century homes that are showcased occasionally on the main site. (I am not affiliated with that site.)

The pink house was beautiful but I understand why you wanted out. I hope the new owners know that those shelves are secured to the wall!

How did I miss seeing a HOUSE post for so long? Me, the Realtor's daughter!

Your Big Pink was beautiful, and so is this Ranch. Wow, perfect condition, both of them! (Something to do with spit 'n polish of Norfolk? Hmmm? Big sales of toothbrushes for tile cleaning? lol)

One of the things we love about our creek is the *distance* it puts between us and the house next to us. Maybe you will get some interesting new wildlife coming out of the water, too. We've had a snapping turtle in our driveway, deer, *toads*, the big heron that returns to nest every spring. Last week as I was making dinner there were mobs of dragonflies feasting on something that was just hatching and flying up out of the yews in our front yard. You are going to LOVE it!

(I was worried about flooding too when I saw how high your canal is and noticed the ranch floorplate is raised. Glad that won't be a problem. You just have a nice daylight basement!)

Love your house. It reminds me of the 1950's ranch we rented for a couple of years. It had a pink bathroom too and the same or similar tile. It was well built. We lived there when my two boys were born.

I saw the article in the Tulsa newspaper about the Sears homes a week or two ago. Will have to keep an eye out for them.

I didn't go back and reread all the posts When do you move in???

We took early possession (because we had to be out of our house) and we moved in on Thursday (the 11th of August).

We were living in a 1925 Colonial Revival with more than 2,500 square feet and that did not include the full basement (which was a nice space) and a full attic (with its permanent staircase off the upstairs hallway).

In other words, it was a massive house, and we had it stuffed to the gills.

Moving into our 2,100 square foot brick ranch required some downsizing - which made me happy, happy, happy. We gave away several pieces of furniture, which also made me happy, happy, happy. And I made at least 10 trips to Goodwill with my car stuffed with boxes and bags of donations.

My husband owns 90% of the stuff and furniture in our house, and it's just way too much. When I met him, I was a starving writer and I owned two bookcases, one bed (no dresser), one couch and a computer. (I lived a simple life.)

So this was an opportunity to shed some of this stuff. I'm so tired of stuff. I really hate stuff.

Our new house is on a crawl space (no basement) and the only storage is a small attic area over the garage (only accessible via a rickety pull-down staircase), and a shed in the back.

The new fence went in today! Teddy is a free dog again! She cried like a baby when she was tethered in the back yard. Such a wuss. I told her repeatedly that some dogs live their LIFE on a tether, but she only cried all the more.

The yard was fenced on both sides, but we needed to add a piece of connecting fence from the house to the sides. This is the privacy fence, and it was the small piece of fence. We needed about 60' of fence on the other side.

What an absolute charmer of a house! Congratulations...it's in pristine condition and absolutely beautiful.

I can see a boat in your future and if you and your DH are up for it, make it a pair of...kayaks! DH and I just purchased ours and I can't tell you how wonderful they are. We're "up there" in age and kayaking is a truly enjoyable and relaxing time.
