Cleaning lady came, so I needed to be out for a while.

Drive downtown to Nikki's and had my usual: fried snapper fingers, spinach, hominy.

Tomorrow is a big day. I am the coordinator of activites for our water social group. Have 28 ladies for a farwell lunch at The Village Tavern for a favorite of ours who is moving to Utah.

Another busy day, canning applesauce today and had Alyssa here. Cheryl and I also picked tomatoes. I am not finished with my apples yet! Lots more green beans waiting to be picked and canned too. My supper, was warm homemade applesauce, buttered toast and iced tea. It was very hot and humid here in central Indiana today.

It's to be hot/humid for a while now here in Ohio. Had some rain today but nothing to write home about.

Patti, I saw yesterday you posted you had to get Boost. Not sure in your area (probably is), but my husbands cancer Dr. signed us up at the Cancer Society. They GAVE him a case of boost a month (I think it was for 6 months) not sure, cause he died before the time was up :( Anyway, they also paid a percentage for meds, and gas milage for appts, or in your case, chemo. Ask him, that helps as that Boost is sooo expensive!

I had a haircut appointment this afternoon so I drove through Long john silver's and picked up a mixed platter.
I am enjoying the not cooking this week, hubby has training classes in the evening and they have food. I could get used to it.

Had a lovely day yesterday and wanted to thank you all again for your birthday wishes. Today was golf. Never before have I been in the group that finished playing last....4 hours and 48 minutes. Too long. I was losing interest at the end, but at least our team came in 4th.

I really don't feel like cooking tonight. Might offer DH breakfast for dinner but unfortunately, he's not a breakfast person. Maybe he'll have just a plain salad with some cooked chicken on top or a quesadilla.

Had put some pork in the crockpot yesterday, so used some for chop suey tonight. Took rice from the freezer and found that it is much better to use freshly made! It was sort of grainy. Edible, though!

Tried a new recipe from our Milk Calendar.

A mixture of chili powder and lime zest on some pork chops and browned them. Sliced onions in the skillet with some of the chili and lime zest, then stirred in some milk/half and half and flour and made a roux. Added some lime juice and simmered the chops in it. Served it with boiled new potatoes and carrots. Hubby loved it, so it's in the keeper binder.

Sorry about your needing to drink Boost Patti. I remember Mom had so many bottles of Ensure at her bedside table, and she couldn't drink them. They were so sweet.

Glenda, getting 28 people together for lunch isn't the easiest thing in the world. Know you have things under control, though. Enjoy it!!!

Sue, oh yum! Homemade applesauce is so delicious. Much "creamier" than store-bought.

Shirley, seems like the whole midwest is hot, hot, hot. Saw on the news that some states closed schools without air conditioning and others were handing out water and popscicles. Fargo, ND has been hotter than Ocala for 3 or 4 days now. Weird weather. If I ate one of my daughter's favorite meals from her childhood, I'd be eating fish sticks and pickled beets. LOL!

Jamie, thanks for the information. I don't take any prescriptions except an antibiotic and I filled a prescription for a pain med but haven't had to use it. It is good to "see" you here again. Hope you are doing well and have some happiness in your life. You've been through so much.

Georgysmom, I'm glad you had a good birthday, but that sure was a long golf game. Salad sounds good and fast, too.

Phyllis, what a good idea. I have roast pork and rice in the freezer. Maybe I'll make that for Harry one night. (Just wrote it on my menu list so I'll remember.)

Jasdip, that would sound good if I liked citrus in my meat but I'm just not a fan. Actually, Boost is very good (the rich chocolate, anyway). Ensure tastes like condensed milk (at least the vanilla does).

Raven, I wondered how you got out of cooking :0 I like LJS's most of the time. Every once in a while if they get too busy, it isn't good at all.

Tried a new recipe for chicken stroganoff. Hubby loved it. Also roasted some zuchinni, yellow squash, mushrooms and tomatoes! Very good dinner!

I made a new recipe for potato burger buns...not again...they were alright..but a bit heavy..
Kian made Smash Burgers on the grill..
We split, buttered and toasted the buns..added the burgers, cheese and bacon and lettuce.
Also made a skillet chocolate chip cookie and cooked up sausage patties for hubbies lunch box, breakfast sandwiches. Oh and in the middle ran and picked up Kellan....also had fries going in the fryer..

Still have to make eggs..already toasted the english muffuns.
