Screwed by 'plumber' ?? Used 1/2' pipe for hose bib line

OK just my 2cents but... In Florida it would be a violation but on your part for hiring an unlicensed plumber and his for doing the work. The work itself is not "incorrect" but rather poorly done. 50' is a BIT far for 1/2 and should have been 3/4"...if I was doing it I would have run 1" unless there was ZERO chance of running more pipe for more hose bibs in the future. Shut off your house meter and take off the hose bib. Check out the hose bib to see there is nothing in it and open it fully and make sure the rubber gasket looks good. (IMO I always replace hose bibs....but thats just me) Turn back on the meter and run the water through the open pipe for 1 min. to be 100% sure there is nothing in the pipe. Although it is rare it can happen that when soldering a fitting the guy used too much solder and made the pipe fill with solder. This would restrict the flow greatly. Could happen at any join he made. BTW I know after the fact it sucks but never hire anyone who isn't licensed for what they are doing. I am a sprinkler contractor, I have done this type of work many times, I would NEVER do it for a customer. It would put my license in jeopardy. Good luck, Tom

HVAC blows warm air
Q

Everything else outside sounds like it's running... the unit doesn't shut off. When it's blowing the warm air and the fan stops, the unit makes a loud buzzing sound and you can feel it putting off hot heat. As soon as the fan starts back up the sound goes away and it pushes out cold air. I haven't taken anything apart on the outdoor unit yet. But I took the panel off the indoor unit and it looks like new on the inside. I'll look at the outdoor unit more in depth tomorrow. Are those two things something that I can replace and if so, how can I tell which part may be bad?

Air Blowing out of Skimmer / Cloudy Water

I am having the same problem with air bubbles coming and going. This started about a month ago. My filter basket was cracked and replacing that seemed to help. But as of yesterday, after disassembling everything to clean the individual filters, I also now have DE coming out my returns when the pump first starts. It seems to stop once the filter has been running. We didn't notice any torn filters when hosing them. My pressure has dropped. It used to be consistently 18 with a newly cleaned filter. Now it's at about 10. With the DE coming out, my first thought was a torn filter, but with the other issues, it must be something else. Before Leslie's tries to sell me a bunch of stuff I don't need, I am hoping for some troubleshooting advice from here first. Thanks!

Oh, honey. Can't we fix up your SS and my SD and throw them to the curb??? I feel for you, but at least your husband is on your side. I have tried everything in my case and my DH is just burying his head in the sand. W/ us, I was taken advantage of so badly by his son, who lived w/ us for a couple of years at the end of H.S. and for breaks from college. Then, these SDs started crashing in on us during college, always w/ a crowd. Now, this older SD moved in for "3-4" months. It'll be 6 mo. in the end of the month and I'm just sick of it as it's very disruptive to my 3, almost 5, and 7 y.o. boys. Anyway, your situation stinks. Your SS CHOSE to be an adult when it was convenient for him to be an adult, but when it's easier for him to play the "poor son", he reverts back to being a child. I feel for this poor baby he fathered. I actually commend him for wanting to step up and be a father, but he needs to first recognize himself AS AN ADULT! My parents have had issues w/ my brother. My dad is calm all the time, but once just lost it and asked my mother how she'd have felt if he were in his 40's and still totally relying on his parents for food, money, etc. I would simply tell him that you're proud of the hands on father he is trying to be, but that the first step is for his child to respect him. Does he want the child to see him as an overgrown teen? (I have huge issues w/ so many of today's adult men who still view themselves as 16 y.o. boys!) Of course he should be able to see his baby whenever possible, but you and his father don't need to go through that stage again. Say you'd love to extend to them a standing invitation for Sunday dinner - tell him to come over early, let you both play w/ the baby, eat, then he can GO HOME! It's time. He's made adult decisions so it's time to be an adult. And, I'm w/ you - the technicality of being in school is a joke. Come on, being in school means you are taking enough classes that you are prevented from holding down a real job! He needs to grow up! Good luck, keep posting, Dana

What great photos, Glenda! The scenery looks gorgeous, especially the hills. And Edinburgh Castle is huge! You must have had a wonderful time :-) We hope to get to Scotland one day.
May I say, as someone who married into a Scottish family, that most Scots prefer to be called "Scots" or "Scotsmen"? "Scotch" is a drink, a "Scot" is a person.

I have to mention though that the Piper is a Scotsman, not a Scotchman. LOL

lesson learned, not a Scotchman, but a Scot person. Still jet lag has me with misspellings.

Guide was wearing all wool and said hot hot hot!
Told us what everything meant with his kilt, etc.

I am sure you must have heard this song about what is beneath a kilt in your travels there. I loved Scotland when DH and I toured in a rented car many years ago.
