I just finished The Scarecrow by Michael Connelly and started Innocence by Karen Novak.

But I have decided that I really, really need to find a light-hearted funny book to read next!

I just finished a Fern Michaels. So for big switch I got a Dean Koontz.

About all I am reading it seems for now are cook books! Maybe when life slows down a bit :) I like hearing what everyone else is reading. I keep buying books and have high hopes of reading one of these days.

I just finished Confidence Woman by Judith Wan Gieson, and I've started Goodnight Nobody by Jennifer Weiner. It's our GRINS Bookclub selection for August. I've got so many books on my bookshelf to read, but I've really slowed down reading this summer.

I always have two or three going at once (can get confusing sometimes), but I've been tossing some that don't appeal to me from the start. Too many good books out there to be stuck with something I won't like. Just started a Jack Frost mystery, which is new to me. I kind of like it, so will continue. Of course, the No. 1 Ladies Detective books are a treat after a heavy mystery. I have a Nevada Barr that I am saving for a treat!

I'm reading "The Mists of Avalon," by Marion Zimmer Bradley. Never read it before, though it's, what, 25 years old? I started watching "Merlin" on NBC and decided I'd read it. Very good.

Just finished reading Signals; An Inspiring Story of Life after Life Interesting book, I enjoyed it.

Also just finished Stop the Thyroid Madness. Although I had read a lot at the author's website, I really wish I had purchased this book as soon as I was diagnosed with Hashimotos. Would have been so very helpful.

Maybe I'll curl up with some good novels this winter?

Are you a Jodi Picoult fan, Connie? She is my favorite author and I know any book of hers will keep me up waaay past my bedtime for a few nights :) I just finished her "Handle with Care" and of course, it did not disappoint; ahhhhhh, SO good!

Currently reading a murder mystery called Down River by John Hart. I'm enjoying it.

I manage to have about 3 books going at once. Like twinkletoes I have the Bob Newhart book, and have gotten a few chapters in, finished a couple of the Nevada Barr books, and finished the #1 Ladies Detective Agency. After seeing the last Harry Potter movie and it left me hanging, I decided to read the series. I'm on the 3rd book and am sooo glad they are light reading, I can really fly through them. Still trying to get through Christopher Reeves' book, Still Me, and one about the levy breaks along the Mississippi River in 1927, Rising Tide. I, too, have shelves of books I want to read and have decided if it doesn't catch my attention in the first 25 pages, I go on to something else, I won't waste my time.

I just finished "The Crimson Petal and the White" by Michel Faber. It was LONG, about 850 pages. I'm not sure how I feel about it. Also it bugs me when I can't figure out the title!! The author went into excruiating detail and then the novel just ends IMO?? The subject (London prostitutes) is pretty racy and the language isn't for the faint of heart! My book club picks one long novel for the summer. I feel accomplished for finishing my longest book though :)

I need to check out this #1 ladies detective agency-sounds good. I like Stephanie Plum/Evanovich series, Kinsey Millhone/Sue Grafton and Jodi Picoult.

I just finished "Cross Country" by James Patterson, and am currently reading his "Dangerous Days of Daniel X". "Cross Country" was very good (I love all of the Alex Cross novels). Still haven't decided how much I like "Daniel X".

Hmmmm I'm curious,I may check out this Number 1 Ladies Detective Agency series! It sounds like I might like it.

I tried to read the Daniel X one, but decided it was not for me. I just finished Jodi Picoult's Harvesting the Heart. I think it might be an older one. I have Scarecrow to start next.

That's the only series where I finished the last book and immediately went back to the beginning and re-read the whole series.

I just started watching the 1st season of the HBO True Blood series. I bought the Sookie Stackhouse Series, which are the books the show is based on. I bought a set of 7 books for $30.00 from Amazon. I'm on the second book and I love them.

I just finished Elizabeth Berg's new book, "Home Safe" - a good read. Right now I'm in the middle of "Irish Chain" by Earlene Fowler, one of the Benni Harper mystery series.

I am reading "Up Till Now" by William Shatner...and it is very funny! It is his autobiography.

I just read Lavender Morning by Jude Deveraux.

Now I'm reading Sweet Liar by Jude Deveraux.

I started the first book from the Outlander series and could not get into it at all. I read at least 1/2 of the book. I wanted to like it because it was recommended to me by a friend.
What am I missing? I just couldn't enjoy it at all. Please tell me what I'm missing so I can go back and finish the book.

I just finished reading The Shack

I just finished book 7 in the Sookie Stackhouse series. Like Organic Donna, I ordered them from Amazon and I just could NOT put them down! I've got books 8 & 9 ordered and book 10 pre-ordered. I can't wait. They were such a good, fast read and so different from the True Blood show on HBO. It's probably a good thing I've got a little wait for the next books to show up....I need to do a little work around the house.

I just finished reading "Clara, The early years" by Margo Kaufma. It is funny in a lot of places and I enjoyed it, but wish she had left out some of the history on Pugs. Have now started Virgin River by Robyn Carr. This one is keeping my interest!

I don't know if this counts as a real "read". But I just recently started reading a book called 'Daily Readings From Become a Better You' Its by Joel Osteen. Every reading has been just wonderful so far. Its hard for me to stop when I am supposed to.

Joann, it's funny how much you can pick up that you missed the first go round. The same with re watching movies. Someone was telling me the series by Edward Rutherford was similar and good also. One of his books was titled "England".
