I had the same thing....31 years ago.

No fats,no gravey,no hamburgers/fries..none of that stuff and you'll get thru it.

Why they are making you wait the 6 wks after tho is a question for me..there won't be any need to wait the way the procedure is done now

My mother-in-law had her's out while she was pregnant, if I remember right. That was 45 yrs ago, so kinda foggy on it.

I had gallstones so bad with my first pregnancy. I thought I was dying--couldn't breathe deeply, couldn't eat and couldn't lay down to sleep. My husband was military so I went to the base hospital--they kept telling me it was heartburn. The last attack I had lasted for 31 hours and my gallbladder was on the verge of rupturing. That was in Jan. 1986, my daughter was born in April. I didn't have mine out until March 1987. It's funny, the only thing that didn't cause me problems were McDonald's cheeseburgers. I did find relief by floating in the bathtub--some how that took the pressure off my abdomen and made me feel better. I am short so I could fill the tub up and float--I think the baby also puts pressure on your gallbladder. I also felt some relief when I threw up(TMI)--sorry. Mine got better after I had my daughter for almost a year then started acting up again.
I hope you can figure something out to help--even labor wasn't as bad as the gallstone pain. Good luck and take care of yourself. Sheila

Stacie...glad they found the cause of you being sick but sorry it is gall bladder. A friend of mine also had it while pregnant and she ended up having it removed while pregnant, that was 20 years ago. They kept her in hospital for a time before hand to make sure baby was doing well etc. but they ultimately decided it was best to take the gall bladder out even though she was pregnant. Good luck with yours, I'm sure you will do fine

I have to wait 6 weeks because this baby will be a repeat c-section so will have to wait for that long before another surgery. I could have had surgery if we had caught this earlier, I am really big and entering the third trimester and there is too big of a risk of preterm labor. I had contractions for 8 weeks with Hayden so I don't want to risk surgery at this point even if they could do the surgery.

I am just glad to figure out what is going on.

I have had to take the throw up route quite a few times and I do feel so much better afterwards. But I get worried about keeping food down for the baby and also have pulled some muscles and ligaments when throwing up that they hurt for the rest of the day and sometimes longer.

I just have to be careful of what I eat. No gassy foods or fatty foods for the next 3 months. Funny thing is DH was diagnosed with gallstones 3 weeks ago but also found out he had diabetes so they won't do surgery as long as they aren't bothering him.

Boy, do I ever feel for you, girlsingardens! I thought I had it bad with difficult morning sickness for four months, but compared to your case that was nothing. They can't even do a laperoscopy(sp?) on you? I guess not because of the baby being in the way. I sure do wish I could help you because I know first-hand how utterly awful stomach problems make me feel. I hope they can find some kind of relief for you. Will they do the surgery right after delivery?

I had my gallbladder removed during my 3rd pregnancy back in late 1974. Actually I started having attacks before my second baby was born in early 1974, they said it was the baby lying on my backbone???? I was so sick I knew that couldn't be right. Anyway the sugery was done between my daughter, January 1974, and my second son, February 1975. Can't remember exactly when.

If it's of any consoluation...I suffered from Hyper-emesis Gravitia (English Translation...puked my gusts out the entire pregnancy) with all three of my pregnancies, and trust me a baby is a parasite, they will take all your nutrition first, so as long as you're trying to eat healthy and can keep a little down, your baby will be fine. So don't let that part worry you.

Pulling muscles from throwing up so hard, Boy do I feel your pain (or remember feeling that pain).

Wish I had more to say that would help. I found that in my case, if I craved a food it usually stayed down. Malt-o-meal was my friend (besides the TMI that it tasted the same going down as it did coming up, which became a judge of all the foods I ate after a while) citrus wasn't, and to avoid dehydtation, gatorade was kept close at hand. I had so many IV's it was sad. I loved the day after kids were born when I could finally wake up and not be sick! Hope you can keep the puking at bay a little bit!

I know all about the pulled muscles and such. I had broken blood vessels on my face from the violent vomitting. I only put on 18 pounds with both my pregnancies because of the gallstones with the first and then 24/7 "sickness" with the second. I was able to keep the prenatal vitamins down with my first and I think that helped her lots. Plain scrambled eggs stayed down some times. I did eat a peanut butter and grape jelly sandwich on the days that I could eat.
My husband was diagnosed with diabetes in March--he had the horrible stomach pains and fevers too. I never heard of that being a symptom of diabetes until he had it. He went from taking 6-8 shots a day to none already. He has really tried to eat right, exercise(he walks either 9 or 18 holes of golf a day), and he has lost weight too.

I had my gallbladder removed laparoscopically on July 14th.

I very rarely ate fatty foods such as fries, fried food, cheeseburgers, etc. When your gallbladder makes stones that block the ducts and you get attacks, the cure is removal.

Doing it laparoscopically is still "surgery." It is not minor surgery - it is surgery! In the large operating room at my hospital, I had my surgeon, his two assistants, one anesthesiologist, and three nurses.

I chose elective surgery to remove my gallbladder because it was not getting better, just worse, and I did not want open surgery (a large cut on your right side).

Surgery began at 10 am, lasted one hour, went home at 6 pm.

Had about three tough days afterwards, and have been fine since.

I can eat whatever I want now. I still will not eat very fatty food.
