Car you drive = financial status

I drove my old T-Bird for about 18 years. It got hit so many times (I have to park on city streets), I finally had to break down and get another car.

I found a really nice used Lincoln.

When my boss saw it, he made some snide comment about he must be paying me too much if I can afford a nicer car than he drives.

I've had several clients mention that I must make good money if "you can afford a Lincoln". (One just today, hence this post)

This car is nine years old. Low mileage. I got a good deal on it.

It just bugs me that people feel compelled to comment on my income/wages because I bought a used car that just happens to be a Lincoln.

(Which, in all honesty, I hate!)
