Talked to Harley (Bonny Granny's DH) - Update

I know there's alot of newer people here that wont remember, but there are also alot of old timers too that I thought would be happy to hear this update.

I talked to Bonny Granny's husband Harley just now. He said everyone is doing great! He just turned 88 and is "still getting around" as he said. He sounded good.

Griff is....drum roll....14 years old!!!! Can you believe it?? He said he's doing great. He's in a private school really thriving and growing. He's totally healthy and is a happy boy. His mother, Petey, is in school to get her RN degree.

His sisters, Rachel and Diamond are also doing great. Diamond is fairly local and going to college. Rachel is in West Virginia going to medical school.

He wanted me to thank everyone for still thinking about them (because I know alot of you do every now and then) and to let everyone know they're all great.

Just thought I'd let you know...

That's nice Steph that you check up on them for us. Glad to here they are all doing good, especially Griff.

What wonderful news. Thanks for keeping in touch and posting this. For those new here....Bonny Granny was a much loved frequent poster here. Her Grandson Griff was a toddler/lad with Down's syndrome and the leukemia that goes along with this. Griff was so brave during all of his treatments. Unfortunately BG caught cancer and didn't make it. I'm so glad her family is doing so well. Petey is such a skilled native art and crafts lady as well. Didn't she also build her own house? It is hard to believe that Griff is 14 already.

LOL Karyn - too funny. Well - have a festive holiday anyway - minor or not. I was talking to DH about a door into the green room from the house - I almost got strangled. (grin) Setting up the lights in there today - benches are up - it's not painted white yet - but it's heated - warm - and will have grow lights. Several 48" florescents with grow bulbs hung down - will be ordering a couple HIDs - working out the logistics on the breakers. (15 - not a 20 amp out there) Guess everyone (cuttings and pots) will be moving in there soon. It's between 65 and 70. So - guess stuff won't be "dormant" in there. I'm gonna need a different hudson sprayer for water. I should go check on the "dormant" plants - because at that temp - they won't be dormant and will need water. And since they will be warm - maybe some of these potted ones will do better rather than the moderate 65-68 here in the house. Congrats on your green house! Sounds wonderful!

Oh My: DJM you are THE most dedicated of them all "Let's just stop at the PO on our way to the hospital...." Only a true Garden Webber would utter such words. I hope all is well. A thrombosis in no laughing matter; note the attention long distance flying is getting recently. You all move your toes and legs, exercise your muscles while sitting on those long flights or you'll be at risk. Djm if the trips to the lab daily are difficult ask your doctor to make a referral to Visiting Nurse, assuming you have that, usually every county has a VNS/ Public Health Nurse service. They will come to you, grab your blood, get it to the lab, and talk with the doctor about dosages. Could be a big time/energy saver for you. Just a thought. Hope you stay well! Poochella

Well, Kathy, this time your package arrived MUCH FASTER! I have to say I was mislead by the weight of the box, thinking, there couldn't be much in there, LOL!!! Of course, the kids were trying to claim everything I pulled out of there. So here's what was in my Easter basket: Easter window decoration - yep, they took that one Easter egg candles - yeah, that one too, LOL Shamrock ornament - uh, huh, you guessed it Garden gloves - I had to draw the line there, too big for them anyway Floral blank notes cards Sharpie permanent marker - perfect for labeling my wintersowing containers! Goodmorning Everybody ! :) I heard from my swappers last night...:))) Mariann I have a couple of surprizes for you...We love putting surprizes in our boxes Regina started it.. Chell you are so creative and your writing is so much fun to read... I bet the boys loved playing pirate.. I can see their smiling faces now...What a great idea to make a hideout.. They will always remeber their hideout mom made for them... Norma I havent traded with you but I am sure you went way above in sending her nice cuttings..I seen pics of what you send...They are awesome boxes..:)) Please dont be sad..:)) Regina howdy :) I am so sorry about Mark having to have surgery and the heart condition would just send me into heaven.. Wow I am so glad to read it all went well...Shooo My heart sank for a minute...He will be all healed for college this fall..:)) You empty nester dont go through what I went through...Stay busy and call them alot... I miss my kids so much it hurts sometimes... Dogs are okay but they cant replace our true babies...I love reading about chell and her boys... It makes me smile so much... It creeped me out really bad...I couldnt see what they were yelling at.. I watched tv...Than got bored and went coleus shopping..lol The master gardener sale for the next county over is tommorow... Thanks for the update Steph. We were up in their "neck of the woods" last year and I sure thought of them. Hard to imagine Griff is 14.

I am thinking that the last time I can recall an update Griff must have been like 6. Maybe 5. I can't believe he is 14 now. Thank you for sharing that with us. Those were the days when I was one of the silent members here at the table.

Oh thank you so very, very much for keeping in touch with Harley and giving us this update. I was just thinking about them the other day, wondering how Harley and Griff were doing. I still miss Bonnie, but am thankful she lived long enough to see Griff beat his problems. It just doesn't seem possible that he is 14 already.

I miss Dottie and Marlin too. Those two could keep you in tears laughing.

Steph, thanks so much for the update. How wonderful to hear how well the family is doing. Bonny Granny is surely looking down with pride. Griff is 14! Where does the time go?

Wow, hearing about Harley and especially Griff just FEELS like a family reunion. It brings back a lot of memories.
Bonny was one in our midst that could clam a "storm" amoung us.

Thank you SO much Steph for the update! I smiled just seeing Harley's name! I never see a pack of Ramen Noodles that I don't think of Griff and wonder how he's doing! I know BonnyGranny is smiling down on that healthy 14yr. old Griff! Sounds like everyone is doing good..and I'm really happy to hear that!

I still have Bonny Granny's address in my address book and I often think of Griff and his family. It's good to know that Harley is still "going strong" and that the others are doing so well. Thank you, Steph, for the update. Bettye/AZ

Steph, thank you so much for this update...makes my heart smile. It is hard to realize sweet Griff is 14, the same age as my oldest granddaughter. I can just imagine the smile on Bonny Granny's face. :)
