artificial insemination; details on the link

Did you notice, the baby was born at 8:08 on 8/8/08? This is an extremely good omen. Congratulations, all.

Wonder why he artificially inseminated the mother? Just curious. No opinion either way.

I am glad to see there was no weird names given. That's a good thing.

Congrats to them.

I think that because they weren't in love, or anything like that, just each wanted to have a baby??? Not sure though. I agree with no weird names...

Here is a link that might be useful: Our journey with autism

Clay Lightloafers a daddy? Oh come on!!! Well, I guess if Michael Jackson can claim to be a father... With upfront apologies to anyone easily offended, I still have to say of course there'd have to be a turkey baster involved but I'd still like to see the DNA tests on both! LOL

Some of the names these days drive me crazy. I was watching the football game tonight and some player was being interviewed about his son. He and his wife always liked the name of Ames Iowa... so he and his wife thought it would be cute to name the kid Ames. I guess there's a lot worse but...

I used to be a baby photographer, ironically right around the time Rodney Dangerfields'd movie "Easy Money" came out. The names that would come through there. At the time weather was popular. All the seasons in various forms, Autumn, Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer, and others I can't recall offhand. Then there was Storm... I said under my breath one day "I wonder when they're gonna trot 'Lightning' through here..."

When I managed the c-store/station there'd be some strange names and all-too-many hyphens. Why would people have to add a name? If you want to keep your name and not take a spouse's, that's fine. Doesn't even have to be husband's either. I know a couple guys who took their wives' names. But they just used ONE. I just want to run a garden rake down a chalkboard when I hear Darryl Anderson-Peterson and Stephanie Peterson-Anderson ARGH! They want to spend that much more time signing their names for the rest of their lives or until irreconcilable differences do part them, I guess it's their choice. But Farrah Fawcett should have been horsewhipped for making hyphens a routine part of names.

Trivia Tidbit: Most people know that John Lennons wife changed her name to Yoko Ono-Lennon, but did you know that John Lennon changed his name to John Lennon-Ono? I wonder if he had to recall all his autographs??? :D

At least Roseanne got sick of the name changes so she just went with her first name!! Although I guess she's taken back her maiden name so she's Roseanne Barr again.

So... to continue what Cynic said, let's say that Darryl Anderson-Peterson and Stephanie Peterson-Anderson have a son, and name him Thomas Anderson-Peterson. Thomas grows up and marries Cynthia Reeves-Pearce, the daughter of William Reeves-Pearce and Amanda Pearce-Reeves.

So, when Thomas Anderson-Peterson and Cynthia Reeves-Pearce get married, they want to "honor" each other by taking each other's name, so Thomas is now known as Thomas Anderson-Peterson-Reeves-Pearce and his wife's name changes to Cynthia Reeves-Pearce-Anderson-Peterson.

And then Thomas and Cynthia have children...

I hope he plans to be an active participant, ie FATHER, in this kid's life and not just a famous sperm-donor. There are enough single-parent families already. Ideally, the two parents should live together. Well, ideally really, the parents should be married and committed to each other, not just friends.

Agree on the marriage and committed thing, but ya know, in this day and age, many "married and committed" folk aren't friends. That has ruined a many childhood. I think that the world is truly changing and acceptance with sensibility will be the way to go. Part of this has been brought on by the media exposing us to so much, and the differences between us. The differences in lifestyles have always been there but just not as available to see. It would be difficult to just ignore so many parts of the world population in order to maintain one viewpoint. I guess we just have to practice what is acceptable to us, and point out to our children, that while certain things are practiced in our homes, we also have to accept that differences exist in the world, and it's OK to differ as long as we don't maliciosly hurt others. Again though, it would be nice if everyone had the notion that the textbook impression of marriage and family are critical. But that's not to be. So, I'm learning to accept that change can be good in this area as well.

I heard in an interview that Clay did, that he is committed, and is extremely happy about becoming a Dad. Since I don't know him, not sure how he will really be, as a father/dad. But he seems to be pretty responsible and understanding of the requirements. Let's all hope, for the child's sake, at least.

I too hope little Parker grows up with both his mother and father.

From what I've read, Clay and the baby's mother DO live in the same house. They are not romantically involved, but are close friends (I think she may be his manager or somehow involved in his career), and both wanted to be a parent.

From what I remember when Clay was on American Idol, he worked with disabled children (either at the rec center or a coulselor??) something along those lines. That must take a lot of patience and caring, so he's go that going for him. PLus if all else fails, he can sing the baby to sleep!

I'll bet he's a cutie, and it looks like he is very much wanted and loved. I hope little Parker learns to sing as well as his father does -- then his mother can produce all of his records!

LOL, lindsey_ca, I guess I didn't think about that, but the kids names would probably be "Cumulus" and "Des Moines"!

He'll get along with the kid fine, but let's face it, the kid will be "raised" more by a babysitter than by him, especially if he continues his career.
