Greeter at WalMart is the nicest.

A while back I left my purse in the buggy, and realized it when I tried to get in my car.

Went back in and he saw the "look" on my face and asked if I left my purse.

He took me straight to it, made me check my purse to see if everything was still there.

Everytime now when he sees me leaving, he always walks up to my buggy and tells me not to foget my purse :o)

We used to have a greeter that always looked like she was in a bad mood. Never smiled, just sat on her stool with that look on her face.

I'm also especially fond of male marmalaids. I've owned 3 in my lifetime. Psycho - Well, the name explains it. He was far from mild-manered, but I loved him. K.C. Farnsworth - He was a lazy spoiled brat, but fairly mild manered. He was my baby when I was growing up. I got him the day that Psycho died. I was 10 and wanted to "replace" the kitty that had just died. Well, we had K.C. until I was in my first semester of college. We had to put him down. He had seizures for about 5 years and they just kept getting worse and worse and he was getting weaker and weaker. :-( Then, a few months after I moved out on my own, my mom called one night and said, "Your daddy wanted me to call you and tell you that you need to come and get this kitten that Mrs. Cooper (old neighbor lady) found in her yard." And the rest is history. The Dude is now around 11 years old, and totally an old grump. He's lived with my parents for about the past 8.5 years, as Keith is allergic to cats. So, he's a block away and lives with his "uncles" Stanley (HUGE black and white fatty), Henry (HUGE gray tabby fatty) and The Beast (young, annoying brat) LOL The Dude hates them all, except Stanley. Stanley is "special" and so The Dude tolerates him.

Wow what amazing pictures----It always amazes me when I look at all the windows and try to imagine just how many lives are tied up to those buildings--- I think I've already told you about the book "Time and Again" by Jack finney. I think raee put her finger on what I found "off" about it. It would pair up very well with a warm wood stained finish, its the white and the dark brown tile that is just a bit jarring to me. Having said that, romy718's photo of the white cabinets/dark backsplash does look lovely, so who can say? Choosing a backsplash is hard, I didn't realize it until we had to pick ours. We brought home several samples of tile, all which looked like they would be perfect for us in the showroom. Until we got them home, under our lighting conditions that is. Then, we found a lot of them were not even close to working for us. Finally, finally, after many trips back and forth, we found the right one. Take your time, no rush to get the backsplash done. Bring home samples, see how they look in your kitchen, with your lighting. But, when you do finally decide, get what you love and don't worry so much about what others think.

I will try to answer questions. I don't know our GC's rationale and that's a good point that I should just ask him to explain his thinking. I doubt he is thinking resale as we have very clear with him that we intend to live in this house for the long term. (And the neighborhood defintiely does not call for huge "professional" gas ranges.) The capture point is a good one. The counter is that it's a small old kitchen. A big hood would dominate unreasonably, IMO. And I'm tall enough to bump my head on it too. So I think the slide out is a decent compromise. We have a gas furnace that is located in the attic. I doubt it has it's own mua, though the attic is also leaky. We have a gas tankless water heater located on the exterior of the house. And we do have a wood burning fireplace--currently never used, but with very long range tentative plans to convert it to gas and use it. The kitchen will have multiple operable windows (one of my main goals for this remodel is windows I can open in the kitchen). Thanks everyone!

He doesn't understand what I say most of the time :o) so you can't carry on much of a conversation with him. He's from India.

He always has a smile!

Guess it's my southern accent, lol.

I have a Walmart greeter who's probably 75 - he's sweet on me, too. Every time he sees me he walks up and says 'it's nice to see your pretty face again', then when I leave he says 'come back when you can stay longer'!!! I'm sure he does the same for all the gals, but it makes me smile.

What's not to like??? It's nice when they remember you and have something nice to say.

Our Walmart has also done away with greeters. Too bad, it was nice.

We have two greeters, that work different days.

The lady, white hair, looks to be close to my age, always sits on her stool. Very friendly, and I generally stop and say something to her either going in or out

They don't do returns anymore, by looking at them and putting the pink stamp on them.

They are just friendly greeters.

Glenda- if you haven't done it already, you need to go to the store, ask for the manager, and give that employee the recognition he deserves. I doubt those folks get much positive feedback, and you taking the time to recognize what he did for you would mean a lot when it comes to performance review time for him.
