Cool!

How cool1 I seperate egg whites and yolks when I make waffles. My recipe calls for the whites to be whipped, then folded in. Makes wonderful light waffles.

My egg yolk seperator got somewhat melted out of shape and now it doesn't work as well. Will have to try that tomorrow morning.

That is wild! I have no trouble separating them the "conventional" way, but this looks like it separates them completely.

I must have missed out on something here. You don't need anything except bowls to drop the yolk and white in. You just crack the egg, point the egg up and the yolk with stay in the bottom half of the shell and the white will fall out into a bowl.

Interesting. I like to see creative ways of doing mundane tasks for entertainment purposes but I can't see myself using the method. The shell to shell method works fine for me.

I usually use two bowls for separating eggs so I don't see where there's a dirty dish saving by the ordinary method either unless you're tossing one or the other. Some use the 3 bowl method too.

I suppose you could put a bunch of eggs in the bowl and pull the yolks and leave the whites too.

I don't now how you could use one bowl unless you throw the yolk or egg white away or maybe drop what you want directly in the mixing bowl. I always save one or the other to put in something else.

Yes, it works. No, I'd never do it that way. I use either the shell to shell method, or I just strain the white off through my, as Julia Child used to say, "impeccably clean" fingers.

But, unless I'm on a road trip, I never buy bottled water, so I don't have bottles sitting around. And I would rather trust my very clean fingers than a used water bottle.

Oh, I will continue to use the shell to shell method, but I thought it was OK to see what someone came up with!!

But you don't need the second dish -- you can then drop the egg yolk directly into the mixing bowl with other ingredients, or into a container to put in the 'fridge if you only need the egg white...

Where would you get a bottle with a hole/opening that large? All of my bottles have little small openings too little to do this job and I don't think I'll be jetting off to China to get one any time soon...HAHAHA!

I've always used the method my Mom used before there were plastic soda or water bottles. You crack the egg open and whichever half contined the yolk, tip it over to let the white pour out and if needed, restrain the yolk with the other half of the shell.

I too have done the conventional way but this is fun! When separating the 2, you'd need 2 bowls or containers to put them anyway. So, why not havinng a little fun while doing it.
